We Have A Winner!

The photo is still Eugene.

We Have A Frankfurter!

Hey Guys,

Oops. Our bad.

It turns out that we were mistaken when awarding Jamie Badman the prize for the Clontest. The picture is not of Charlie Miller and we apologize to the readers of The Clog for insinuating such a fallacy. Our “reliable source” for the information came from a comment post belonging to a gentleman by the name of Jamie Badman. Yup, we promise to engage in better research from now on. Our bad.

So the real winner is… drum roll please… um no, you just did a rim shot, we’re looking for a drum roll… ah, okay that was more like a Neil Peart drum solo. You know what, nevermind. The winner is:

Ryan Pilling!

Oh lordy lordy, Ryan was the only person who knew that the photo was indeed of Guy Camirand. Congratulations, Ryan! We will get your prizes out to you by the end of the week.

For Jamie’s eyes only:

[Please package up all the prizes and send them off to Ryan Pilling. He's expecting them by the end of the week, so you'll have to Fed-Ex those badboys. Our bad.]

We Have A Wiener!

Hey Guys,

I’m sorry to inform you all that we will not be having a two month anniversary party to celebrate the lack of a winner from the latest Clontest. That’s because we finally have a victor:

Jamie Badman!

Yup, it turns out that Jamie was the only one who knew that the man in the photo is Charlie Miller (of Miller beer fame) and he is holding a playing card. Congratulations Jamie! We will be in touch with you to send out your prize.
Thank you to everyone who participated. You are all winners in my heart! (my sappy quota in now filled for the month of July)

Piece of Cake

Clontest

Hey Gang,

It’s time to break out the bubbly and the champagne. As it is now June 30th, we are celebrating our one month anniversary of not revealing the winner of the last Clontest!

Whoo Hoo!

You may remember that we displayed a photo of a magician and then posed the question to you fine readers: Who is this guy?

Well, as soon as we find out ourselves, we’ll let you all know. We found the photo online and just assumed it was a magician. We’ve been tirelessly conducting research ever since. Many of you have expressed the notion that it is Eugene Burger, but there is a mighty discrepancy involved that you may not have noticed: Eugene Burger HAS A BEARD! So we’re pretty sure it’s not him. Or Daniel Garcia.

We hope to get to the bottom of this shortly. In the meantime, have some cake.

We’ll see you all back here on July 30th for anniversary #2!

Muwahahaha

iTricks

Hey Guys,

Tyler – 2

Andi – 1

Head on over to iTricks to hear the newest Magic Week In Review podcast. It’s my second time as the special guest on their great program, and it now puts me over the top in the race to beat Andi Gladwin in every possible scenario imaginable (although he’s still winning in the pole vault).

If you guys can think of any other competition you’d like to see us throw down (a.k.a. me win at), let us know!

Clontest

It is time once again to drop a new Clontest on your collective tooshies. We have been lucky so far with all the Clontests we’ve ran in the fact that they all share a running theme:

No one has won.

We’re not sure if it’s because your IQs are too low, or if our IQs are too busy being pussies about giving stuff away, but this Clontest will change all of that. Up for grabs this time is a copy of Dominatricks, Movers & Shakers and some of Rich Aviles’ actual body hair. The Clontest itself is simple. Take a look at this photo:

Clontest

All you have to do is tell us who this man is, and what is he holding in his left hand. For any answers to be considered eligible, they must be posted as a comment to this post. The first person to post the correct answer will win the prize package. What are you waiting for? Start posting!

The Clontest will end May 30, 2008 at 12:00pm GMT if no correct answers have been posted.

Hints: Even if you don’t recognize who the man is, we guarantee that you all know him and what he is holding. His name is instantly recognizable although some of you might not know what he really looks like. Figuring out the answer to one of the questions will help deduce the other one.

We’re throwing you an easy one here, so make us proud!

* Many of you already own Dominatricks and Movers & Shakers, so if you’re among this group and you win, we’ll make sure to throw some other cool stuff your way.

Rich's big day

It’s Rich here.

I recently found out that my girlfriend has been reading my posts on The Clog here without my knowledge. This kind of embarrasses me and is a bit of a disappointment since she now knows the method for my fire wallet; a trick that has kept her guessing for years now. But with this new information as to her internet browsing habits, I figured I would take the opportunity to surprise her with something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now, but never knew how. My heart is racing, but here it goes:

Shaniqua, will you marry me?

Update: this was an April Fool’s Day prank that Tyler and Andi played on Rich! He didn’t really propose to Shaniqua, but after reading this post maybe he will!

And then there were four

Rich Aviles

With me busy working on taking over the world, Luke busy advising Criss Angel (on his dress sense) and Tyler busy doing, um, something weird, the Clog has been a little quiet recently. So, it seemed obvious that we needed to add somebody else to the crew. We needed someone who was great at magic, had lots of interesting things to say, and most importantly had a lot of spare time on his hands. And after hunting for about a minute, we found someone. Ladies and gentleman, I introduce to you … Rich Aviles.

Rich has been a part of my publications right from the start. For example, he printed the original softback edition of Dominatricks at his old workplace and then carried them half way across America for me. But instead of me telling you lots of things about him, you can already get to know him by reading his first post on The Clog. You will also shortly be able to read his articles, “6 Reasons to Perform Magic in an Igloo” and “Never Eat Goats Cheese While Doing an Elmsley Count.”

So, please welcome our latest Clogger. Rich Aviles!

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays!

Clog readers everywhere Luke Dancy has appeared out of nowhere! It’s been a crazy few months with my new job so I haven’t had a chance to post in quite some time but here I am. I would like to take a moment to wish all of our readers warm wishes and a very happy holiday.

Yes Christmas and New Years are right around the corner but there’s another big event coming up as well that should be exciting as hell. It sounds like Andi will have THE Jack Parker book up for sale in the near future so keep your eyes peeled for that. I’ve seen a few pictures of the finished product and let me tell you this book is a thing of beauty and goes right along with the quality of magic that you will find on the pages inside.

I should be around more after the new year so in the meantime have a great time with your family (or your pasteboards!) over the holidays and I’ll see you next year.

Clog on!

I met Andrew Mayne and Justin Robert Young at MAGIC Live in Las Vegas this past August and they asked if I’d be part of their iTricks show one week. They’ve got such a great thing going on with iTricks that I couldn’t resist. This weekend, our schedules worked out right and we recorded the show.

You can listen to the 20 minute podcast at the following address:

Justin and Andrew are doing a great thing with this site and I’m pleased that I’ve been able to support them in my own, small way.

P.S – I should mention that I come across as a dumbass in the first minute of the show. I made a joke that didn’t come across as one at all, making it seem like I truly thought the fall was called winter in the UK. I just meant that it was always cold in the UK!
