Let’s see it’s 3:30 am and I’m having trouble sleeping so I know what I need … a good dose of the Clog! Okay, so the holidays are right around the corner and I thought that before everyone heads out of town I would go ahead and wish you guys safe travels and a Merry Christmas. As we all know presents are soon to come so I wanted to find out what some of our readers are hoping to find sitting under the tree.

A couple of the items I’ve had my eye on include the new Eric Mead magic book Tangled Web and the new Bill Goodwin/Paul Harris release called Linking Laces.
As a gift to our readers, the person who posts the most interesting or amusing gift they are hoping to receive for Christmas will receive a complimentary Tricycle cardbox and booklet from me. Feel free to post magic and non-magic related items, anything goes! Let the fun begin …
HoHoHo
Clog on!

RE: Linking laces
Am I missing something at all? I’ve watched the demo video a few times, and all I can think is “meh. That’s kinda cute, I guess.”
It feels like the method is PAINFULLY obvious. I have yet to see the actual product itself, but the effect itself didn’t fool me one bit.
Maybe my brain is defective. My buddy Sean thinks it’s the greatest trick since sliced bread, and he definitely has waaaaaaaaaay more magic experience then me.
I dunno. It just doesn’t do it for me much.
Hey Guys,
Merry Christmas to everyone!
I just took a look at the Linking Laces demo and I don’t think it looks bad at all. The first phase looks pretty much identical to Harry Lorayne’s “The Best Gosh Darn Impromptu Linking Card Effect You’ll Ever See”, but with laces (although Lorayne’s was based on an old link with rubber bands). It looks like a great application of the principal.
The effect kinda played soft on the demo, but I have no doubt that it could play large in the right hands with the right crowd. And heck, you can never have too many impromptu goodies in your bag of tricks.
I’ve already gotten my grubby hands on Mead’s Tangled Web and I think it’s fantastic! I haven’t digested the full contents yet, but I’m thoroughly enjoying what I have read so far. The production values are, of course, the usual Hermetic Press top notch quality we’re used to. I hope you find it under your tree Luke.
And for my wish list, allow me to quote a shirt from http://www.tshirthell.com :
“All I want is peace in the middle east, and a blowjob.”
Happy Holidays gang!

Hi Cary,
I quite liked the thinking behind the Linking Laces effect. The fact that the first phase is impromptu and sets up for the second phase (which is much stronger) is great. That said, I can understand where you’re coming from and agree that the first phase could probably be a little stronger, but I’d really have to try it before commenting on whether audiences think the method is obvious.
Happy Holidays everyone. I’m hoping to receive a Gyrating Melinda Doll for Christmas. I think Tenyo makes them.

Dear Mr. Santa Claus (aka Luke Dancy aka Best Magician Ever),
My name is Cody Fisher. I am 15 years old from Easton, PA. I love magic and I also love tacos…and Big Macs. I happen to have Attention Dephisate Disorder, which I probably mispelled, so if I happen to get off topic, I sincerely offer my sincerest most sincer apologies. Anyway, pudding tastes good. On another note, I should warn you, I only have the most high quality, best magic items ever on my Christmas list. Stuff that should be in the repertoire of all close up workers. I don’t have them yet so that makes me worthless, so I beg you for mercy. By the way, I am allergic to papayas. What was I talking about again? Let me scroll up and check. Oh yeah! My christmas list! Well here goes:
1. Misprint by Luke Dancy (cool)
2. Division by Luke Dancy (super cool)
3. Queens City Transpo by Luke Dancy (too cool for school)
4. Painter’s Nightmare by Luke Dancy (mucho cool)
5. Self Tying Shoelaces by Jay Noblezada (he must be a genius)
…and last but not least…
6. Tricycle Card Box by Luke Dancy and that other guy.
That is my humble Christmas list. As you can see I’ve filtered out all the crap and left myself with a list of cool stuff. I am proud of my success in magic. It is miniscule compared to the work of the great Luke Dancy but who’s work isn’t? Anyway, I am most proud of the fact that I never suck up to anyone, ever…ever. Who’s giving this thing away again? My toenails smell like a toaster.
The End
Sincerely,
Cody Fisher
P.S. –Does anyone know how I can contact Luke Dancy?
Hi all,
To all have a great christmas, let it be inspiring to us on how to create a certain atmosphere.
What I would like for christmas?
I love a insta-ball suitcase. Only specially adapted for me, so no ball appears but some girlfriend would be nice. Only I wonder why that airy sound was on the first demo
. If only blowup things can come out, maybe a blow-up girl would do the trick too! At least she will not be using my credit card.
The last time I had a girlfriend my creditcard got stolen. I didn’t report it and got a new one, since the burglers expenses where cheaper then my girlfriends’.
Happy hollidays
Full admission to S.C.A.M. 07. I can’t think of anything more exciting except maybe a trip to the Magic Castle or coffee with Paul Harris.
Andi:
I will be the first to admit that my opinion is based solely on the demo video & method that I only assume is being used. As always, I will reserve judgment until I try it with somebody. And I’m not going to do THAT until I see the actual DVD/booklet/whatever it is. =)
I can see how it would be a strong opener. And like Tyler said, you can NEVER have too many impromptu effects in your repetoire.
(Ghost Bills, anyone?)
My Christmas wish is that my local shop would carry IT. The guy there says they stock it, but I can never find it!
Yeah I wouldn’t mind the new Eric Mead book, my mother in law wanted to get me something so I suggested it and told her it would probably be about £25.
“Twenty five pounds…for a book, who wrote it”?
“Eric Mead”
…”Eric Mead…you can get a good book by Eric Van Lustbader for £4.99, what about him”?
I await my present.
So, what did you get?
My holiday wish is for Kathy Ireland to magically go back in time about 15 years and to wake me from a very bad dream, soothing me by presenting me with my very own copy of Tricycle (from the future, of course), created by the then unknown, but soon to be reckoned with, genuis that is Lke Dancy. Then, while I carefully read the instructions, she would sooth me with gentle caresses on my forehead and say, over and over, “Wow! That was, like… magic!”
What did I get…socks. Happy new year to you all.
Okay…
So, who won??
Merry Christmas, sorry its a little late
