Best. Deck Switch. Ever.

"The Cooler" will change the way you do card magic.

Christian Engblom's "The Cooler" is about to change the way you do card magic. The testimonials speak for themselves: David Blaine, Paul Wilson, Rene Levand, Dani DaOrtiz, and on and on and on. They use it, love it, and swear by it.

The perfect deck switcher is the holy grail for card workers. It allows you to get into and out of memorized deck, gaffed work, stack work, or to change the back design. It is the "missing link" between otherwise incompatible card routines.

But deck switches are normally difficult. Many involve lapping or being seated. Others require a jacket with secret pockets sewn in. Some even involve bizarre contraptions that come from your sleeve. Because of this, most magicians just opt not to switch decks. A pity, really.

The Cooler fixes this. It happens in plain sight, it is totally self-contained in the card box, and can be done standing, without a jacket or sleeves. You can customize this durable, precision-made plastic gimmick to any box of cards, and you can execute the switch in the hands or on the table. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

"The most beautiful deck switch I have ever seen."

  • David Blaine

"Where can I get one?"

  • Rene Lavand

"If this damn thing were any Cooler, it would be frozen!"

  • Max Maven

"The best deck switch I have NEVER seen!"

  • Wayne Dobson

This is not a trick or a fleeting trend. "The Cooler" is a tool, and we believe it will become an industry standard for years to come. A dozen top card men have been privy to prototypes of Christian's remarkable invention for the last five years. Finally, they are available for wide release. The gimmick works with any Poker-sized deck (add your own box design/color to it) Complete with Online instruction by Christian Engblom and Dani DaOrtiz Takes practice, but not incredibly difficult to do

It seems like we've all been through Cold Case before we got here. Let it be clear that Greg Wilson's gimmick is very good and works great for table shows. Nothing to object but Cooler outplayed in-game. With this you can make the changes sitting, standing and even on the street. The gimmick itself is solid and reliable and with a little crafting will fool everyone. It performs a deck change cleanly in front of the spectators' eyes. A quick tip: it works better with new decks than overused decks. The curvature of the shuffled deck gets that it does not fit well into the gimmick, leaving some cards out and leaving two or three wedged inside at the time of unloading. The explanatory video is very good - with a moment of humor included thanks to the Master Dani Daortiz - although the recording must be old and the quality of the video is quite low. In short, an almost vital tool that should be part of every magician's repertoire. Great to use in combination with Jermay's Marksman Deck or any gaff deck.

I was torn between this and Cold Case. I went this way cause I though the on-the-table approach had less heat than in-the-hands. After seeing the product tutorial, I was really expecting to love this. I started playing with it and was getting really frustrated by the fact that a whole deck wouldn't fit in the gimmick. It would always leave about 10 cards dribbling about, and I had to be extra fussy to keep everything together. I was about to leave a 4 star review because of that additional handling frustration, and I was going to abandon it and order Cold Case to try instead. BUT! In examining the gimmick and trying to figure out why the cards didn't all fit, I realized my gimmick has two center pieces. Maybe this was a manufacturing mistake or maybe they are giving you two pieces to have an extra as a backup in case the little prongs break on one of them. I'm almost positive that this extra piece wasn't discussed in the video, but now that I carefully took them out and put just a single back in, a whole deck fits great! Hopefully this info doesn't border on exposure, but I thought I'd leave this here in case anyone else picks this up and has the same issue of the deck not fitting all the way. Changed my review to a five! The handling works perfectly now, and bonus points for supplying an extra piece of the gimmick :)
