Inevitable Choice - magic
Inevitable Choice Inevitable Choice Inevitable Choice Inevitable Choice Inevitable Choice Inevitable Choice

Seemingly rob a spectator of their free will. Despite them making every decision, their final choice is ultimately inevitable.

“Inevitable Choice” from Christian Grace allows a spectator to impossibly find their own card in a true “needle in the haystack” type moment that is surprisingly easy to perform.

Your participant is invited to choose a playing card from a pack they can clearly see has all different cards. It is then lost in the deck and the cards are shuffled. As you deal cards to the table, the spectator is invited to call “stop” whenever they’d like. This is repeated multiple times until you go through the whole deck of cards. Each time, they truly call stop whenever they want and you very cleanly put the card they stop on to the side.

You then work through the smaller packet in the same fashion until just a few cards are left. The spectator makes a choice from the remaining cards and, impossibly, it is their card. You don’t need to do any sneaky switches or steals. And they make all the choices.

“Inevitable Choice” is extremely easy to perform thanks to a special deck that allows you to perform this miracle without any complicated sleight of hand required. It’s nearly self-working, with only a tiny bit of on-the-fly mental work needed in some situations. Much of which is made easier by the way the routine has been meticulously structured and a secret system built into the deck. Even better, this deck can be used for most of your favorite card tricks. So, you won't have to worry about having to carry around extra decks of cards.

This deck is just one part of the puzzle though. The reason "Inevitable Choice" is truly a powerhouse effect is because Christian has truly thought out every detail. In the comprehensive instruction video, he walks you through all the important subtleties you need to undetectably guide your spectators despite the fact they make every choice themselves. No stone was left unturned. Magicians that appreciate audience-tested material, where every nuance is carefully crafted, will smile from ear to ear when they see the level of thought that went into this effect—especially the very subtle (but brilliant) design features that help bring it all together.

Countless magicians were both fooled AND entertained by this when it was first released at Magifest.

This is a perfect effect for beginners, while also providing the ample presentation possibilities a professional magician desires. As “Inevitable Choice” resets quickly, you can add it to your close-up magic or table-hopping magic sets right away. If you’re performing virtual magic shows, “Inevitable Choice” also works perfectly online.

Please Note: The "Inevitable Choice" deck is a red Bicycle deck of cards printed with Mandolin backs.

This is a great effect, as the spectator makes all the selections. It's subtle; the magician can simply polish his or her presentation. The video provided a comprehensive explanation.

The video is extremely well engineered - great sound quality and clear and properly lit camerawork showing all essential elements of the technique. Christian Grace's presentation was not simply scripted or being read from a teleprompter, yet it never felt as if anything was forgotten or left out. He employed an effective and engaging blend of technical or handling instruction with performance tips that emphasize the power of keeping in mind the spectator's sense of amazement that will prepare even those new to magic to perform it with confidence and ease and the delight that comes with creating the moment of reveal!

Excellent!

Almost my favourite current effect - a very simple but hugely convincing spectator impossible card location. Full of Christian Grace subtleties, it relies on some 'jazzing', which is so natural it even convinces me that I can jazz!

Christian Grace does an excellent job of explaining the trick and does it in a reasonable length of time. The trick is very clever and he inspires a confidence in the performance - very well thought out. No difficult moves or sleights. The cards employ some very special features which ad to the deceptiveness and ease of performance.

Was a bit "underwhelmed" at first...BUT (and that's a big but) as Christian states in the tutorial, if you remember your first response to the "inevitable choice" when performing for spectators, you will discover that their join becomes yours. I have become a supporter.

Ok, LOVE it. I had an idea how this would work but the explanation and handling is really brilliant! Have to say after I ordered it, I read a few more reviews and thought "oh, I could have fashioned my own deck to accomplish this". Not really true. You won't know the patter, which is extremely important. His run-through is really great. He guides you through so may scenarios that are invaluable to achieving the outcome. Well worth it!!! Nice job!

Another piece of absolute gold from Christian. A great quality product and, as ever with Christian, the tutorial video is incredibly well produced. Every possible scenario is covered with detailed explanations. Some thought and consideration is certainly needed as far as presentation is concerned but the end result is certainly worth it.

Well thought out and mavrvelous deck of cards with which to perform this trick.

This is a perfect combination of gimmick and psychology, both in such an amount that you are badly fooled because it can't be done this way and it can't be done that way. The deck has those tiny little extras that on the one hand "sell" this and on the other hand make your performance easy. The short video tells you all about the importance of the words you use and is a great crash course in one of the classic techniques. A beginner with confidence (!) can do this. Highly recommended because it works, is easy to do, has an excellent instruction video and high attention to detail.

Christian Grace is one of the best at creating new magic! His effects are contemporary, masterfully devised and so far, easy to perform. This trick, Inevitable Choice is one that allows you to focus very little on the mechanics and a lot on your performance skills and personality!

Inevitable CHOICE is an outstanding routine. There is a lot to learn here AND there are potential improvements that await the magician. Problems include how to reset for walk around.

Christian Grace graces us with yet another fun and well thought-out effect. This has the polish and seal of approval of Vanishing Inc as well, which you know goes a long way to ensure the quality of the product. While not perhaps as unexpected as some of his previous releases, Inevitable Choice is a fine bit of magic.

  • Matthew asks: No answer to my question, so I'll re-phrase: how does this differ from Drop Card by Chris Rawlins (and is he credited)?
