"Tim has taken a classic plot - the apparent destruction of a borrowed item - and made the moment of truth both harrowing and hysterical. It will get roars."David Regal

"When it comes to great situational comedy magic, Tim Ellis's iDrop is about as surefire as it gets."Charlie Frye

How do you vanish a spectator's phone? Tim Ellis' has the PERFECT solution to the problem that has plagued many parlor magicians. A utility prop that provides many comedic opportunities in using a borrowed phone, and a routine that includes a place for the phone to appear (in a nest of boxes, in a gift box, in a bottle, in a sealed can) are all feasible.

But how do you VANISH the phone? THAT is the hard part.

iDrop solves this problem in an hilarious way that is SURE to elicit a memorable response on stage. The effect is simple: you place a spectator's phone in a protective, see-through mesh bag. While she holds the bag, the cell phone FALLS through an apparent hole in the bag, and smashes to pieces when it hits the ground. Of course, her actual phone is safe and hidden in a secret compartment in the bag. When you ditch this prop, you can use the opportunity to load the phone wherever and however you like.

iDrop comes with both the ingeniously gaffed bag that switches any borrowed phone for a decoy, and the break-away decoy phone itself. This phone mimics the size, weight and shape of all modern phones, including the iPhone. When it hits the ground, it breaks into what looks like many pieces. Actually, it's just three pieces that are easily reassembled during reset.

This can be used as a gag--which is hilarious for social media or to prank your friends. But its true value is on stage, where you can momentarily convince an audience that a phone has been utterly destroyed right in front of their eyes...only to make it appear in the most unexpected place, fully restored.

FAQs
Does iDrop work with any phone?
Yes. You are supplied with a gimmicked black colored phone but in the instructions, Tim gives you direction on what to do if the phone looks slightly different.

How long does the gimmicked phone last for?
A long time. And what's more, the more beat up it gets, the more fun the effect is to perform.

Is there any risk of the real phone getting damaged?
So long as you follow the instructions, no. There is a special safety mechanism in place that keeps their phone safe and sound.

What's included in the package?
You get: A specially gimmicked security deposit bag, a gimmicked phone, plus an extra "part" that is optional to use.

“From the devious mind of Australian magician Tim Ellis comes iDrop, an effect that will definitely have your spectator’s mouth drops both when they see the effect of gravity on their phone and when they magically get it back intact!"Boris Wild

"One of the funniest tricks in magic for the last century was the Watch Smash. Now, it’s the iDrop. OF COURSE! Why didn’t I think of this? Tim, I hate you and love you for this at the same time!”Jeff Hobson

“Another finely crafted comedy routine from the mind of Tim Ellis. Other than running over a spectator’s phone with a steamroller, what could be more fun?”David Kaplan

"This is a great premise for a phone to impossible location. I can see this easily fitting into anyone’s show."Mike Hammer

“Tim has created a trick that is destined to become a classic. You know with a cashless society now this will replace “signed bill” to impossible location.”Paul Romhany

"I’ve got a feeling everyone’s going to be doing this!"Dom Chambers

This is simple, and fun! For the price, the quality is amazing!

I especially appreciate the video to learn it. It’s not too long. So many videos really stretch it out these days. This video is concise, fun and gets it all across in a minimum of time. I was doing the part if the trick that comes in the box in minutes.

The complete routine does require considerable arts and crafts time, but is totally worth it imo.

Love this! The method is super simple. You'll be able to perform a variation of this trick right out of the box. High quality and the value here is over the top. The props are extremely convincing. For what you receive I would have expected to pay twice if not more for what I received. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Oh sweet! I got this at Blackpool. At first, I thought it was too simple but then I saw the reactions this got. It's SO fun to perform. Bag is really well made too.

  • Shawn asks: Does this work with all kinds of phones? iPhone and Android? And also if their phone has a case on it?

    • 1. Kenneth answers: There appears to be an option to add an extra, Android phone to the order, when selecting options.

  • Francesco asks: Can it be used also with more recent phones which m don’t have wide borders on the top and bottom of the display?

    • 1. James answers: Given that the "phone" is seen from a distance inside of a mesh bag, yes, it will work with virtually any modern smart phone.

  • Ed asks: Would this work on any Apple phone?

    • 1. James answers: Given that the "phone" is seen from a distance inside of a mesh bag, yes, it will work with virtually any modern smart phone.

  • seth asks: It’s not actually their phone though right? If they had say a bright pink phone and a black phone falls out it’s going to be pretty obvious in a second or two....?

    • 1. James answers: Don't borrow a bright pink phone from the audience.
    • 2. Gary answers: LOL!!!
    • 3. David answers: How Do You Know What Color Phone They Have ? Lol Most People Have Cases On There Phone! And If You Ask For A Black Phone People Are Going To Know Something’s Up !Lol There’s To Many Different Phones And Colors To Do This Trick In Todays World !
    • 4. Jan Britten answers: Simple: Say, “I want to do an experiment, but I’ll need your help” Then, simply ask EVERYONE at your table (or at a party or bar scenario) to pull out and show their “iPhones”. (This way, any Android owners probably won’t take theirs out.) When all the iPhones are held up, now you’ll be able to spot the one that most resembles your Trick one right away. Now you can. “Randomly choose one” (the one that looks closest to your gimmicked one), by asking permission to “borrow” the phone. Then proceed with your magical performance!

  • Jeff asks: Don't most people use iPhone cases ? So, it sounds like you need an excuse to take their phone out of their case. Also, with the new iPhone12 coming out. Is the new model squared off phone going to be an issue ?

    • 1. James answers: One of the strategies that Tim suggests to have the phone taken out of the case, so that the case will not be scratched (said in a joking manner). Given that the "phone" is seen from a distance inside of a mesh bag, yes, it will work with virtually any modern smart phone. The audience is not going to see tiny differences in the phone obscured by mesh.
    • 2. Fred answers: Get two thin matching bags and have the fake phone in it then in the bag have them put their phone in the other bag do the switch while the will not see the pieces they can feel it broken through the bag..no as good as the original..but in a pinch..

  • Jamie asks: Is the vanish itself included in the package?

    • 1. James answers: Yes, Tim explains the vanish and the nest of boxes (which you will have to make yourself, if you choose to use them).
    • 2. Gary answers: He explains how to make the boxes?

  • Gonzalo asks: Now, Apple offers you the option of buying a iPhone in other colors (red, yellow...) and also, some new phones don’t have a button. It works also with them?

    • 1. James answers: The simple answer is to ask the audience members to hold up their phones. When you spot one that is usable, as for that one. Regarding tiny differences—the audience is not going to see tiny differences on the phone obscured by mesh.

  • Gonzalo asks: In the trailer it appears a phone with a beach lockscreen, what happens if the spectator have another lockscreen?

  • Gary asks: Three pieces or many pieces when it hits the ground? Also if the bag holds the persons phone do they not still feel the weight of the bag as it still holds their phone?

    • 1. Dottore answers: Two unless you alter it. In the moment, a layman, on stage, will only be focusing on the falling phone that breaks when it hits the ground.
    • 2. Gary answers: BUT! I have seen two trailers one in six pieces and one with three pieces? Isn't it time trailers were truthful?

  • Robert asks: It appears that iDrop with Android phone is out of stock. Any estimate when this option will once again be available? Thanks.

    • 1. Dottore answers: None at the time.

  • Vince asks: The boxes are not included?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No, but there are instructions on how to make them. It is a short and easy DIY project.
  • Paul asks: I am seeing this as a utility item. Could it be used for other things such as a watch, pair of spectacles etc?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Theoretically, yes.
  • Will asks: Is there plans to update the iPhone model to a recent model design. I’m finding it more difficult to use this older model gimmick. It’s passable at a distance but not even the slightest to the person on stage.

    • 1. Ben answers: Buy an already broken second hand handset of the model you want to use?
    • 2. Blase answers: No plans at the moment. Sorry!

  • William asks: How far from the audience do you need to be to effectively do this trick? Could it be used in a parlor situation or is it just for stage? Strangely, your page for this trick at the upper left states that it is Close Up Magic, but many of the answers to the questions speak of enough distance. Also, if some distance is needed, what happens to the person called up "on stage" to assist? Are they fooled?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: This is great for parlor!
  • Will asks: Has the phone gimmick been updated for this yet. Is it a newer style iPhone of still the one from 5+ years ago with the button at the bottom… would love an option to get an updated version of the gimmick

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: The gimmick has not been updated but since it shatters into pieces, it's hard to know what phone model it really is. However, you can also purchase a dummy phone on the internet should you want to use a model that is more updated or in a different color.
  • Max asks: I broke the swap phone (like it is in many pieces, not just 2), and I was wondering if you guys offer replacements.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: We do not offer replacements of the phone at the moment
