This is a wonderful effect to walk around with. It is compact and the video is easily digestible. It definitely takes practice to get the ring on the pin but once you figure this out, you have a miracle.

This is certainly one I’m going to invest the time in to make the effect first class.

Personally I think it’s great value for money - when you look at the materials, and the support, it’s brilliant.

Kim Anderson is a very good teacher and very considerate to teach all type of handling for all range magician from beginner to pro. He even taught you how to perform shrapnel seated using two normal safety pin.

Typical stellar job from Kim here. He has obvious worked this for some time in the real world and has thought of everything from start to cleanup. With 3 regular pins and 2 gimmicks (even though you only need one of each) and even a practice ring, you can start performing immediately after receiving this. The instruction is incredibly thorough -- just under 2 hours where many would give you 20-30 minutes. And that includes multiple live performances.

It may not be new but it is very well done -- even the way the pin is gimmicked has been thought out and done slightly differently than most other versions. If you like what you see in the trailer, get it. Highly recommended.

About 2 hours of tutorial, 2 gimmicks, 3 extra regular safety pins, a good quality gold ring, a magnet, and a carry tin that looks like a regular mint tin!

Kim has done a great job with his take on this effect. Because of the uniqueness of the props I’m of the opinion that you’ll need to bring some storytelling to the effect to justify why you’re carrying around a small tin with a safety pin and ring inside but that’s one of the things I like about it. You can really make a unique presentation around it.

I really want to give this 1 star, but not because it isn't great, but because I don't want any more magicians doing this trick, I just want it for me and the others that already have it. But in all seriousness, this is a killer effect. Kim takes an old prop and breathes new life into it. I have purchased so much magic that after I mess with it for a bit goes straight into the magic drawer to never be see again. But Shrapnel is going straight to my pocket and straight into my EDC. The gimmick is well crafted, and the instructional video is phenomenal at just under 2 hours long. Everything about this effect is practical. It's also fairly easy to learn with the exception of just a couple knacky moves.

You receive everything you need, which comes in a nice presentation box. Comes with a video production off nearly two Hours off video play time, this video definitely needs a lot off editing. The video starts with a painful standing demonstration, This is followed by the teaching off the stand up version, followed by the teaching off the sitting down version, no live performance, or person to person, for the sitting down version, which i found disappointing, all the moves are taught, including a completely different routine near the end, included in this video are lots off tips within the methods taught, Nearly 15mins off a live performance video,
Been good if the live performances were filmed were you could see the moves that are taught at normall speed, especially dumping and retrieving from the back pocket, none off these moves were filmed in the live performances, as a lot off this was mostly the reaction off the spectators, or negative bad angle viewing,
i even started to feel sea sick with the camera moving around so much.
Other than that, Shrapnell takes up hardly any pocket space, its even smaller than a deck off cards, And it comes with several layers off methods that you can perform, what's great is use the methods that suit you best. You don't have to borrow a ring, you can use the ring thats provided.
Shrapnel is a good fun one to perform.
Shame about the bad video productions.

So, I really like the effect. Kim Andersen throws some humor and jokes in the tutorial, but I find it myself that he isn’t the best mentor. He does struggle sometimes finding the goed words, but what you get is a lot. He goes over all the sleights that you need to know, for example the shuttle pass. I personally do not perform it often. I struggle a bit with catching the ring into the safety pin, so sometimes I really need to dig in to get it! You are going to need to have some practice, you get everything you need and a ring that you can use for other tricks! So I give this 4 stars! Just one star off because I didn’t find it the best tutorial video, you do get the content table though and I for me until now it’s a bit risky to do it cause I fail a couple of times. And it’s not that I am a bad magician, I do think I need to practice more, I am also a card magician and this is the first product/trick that I am learning that aren’t playing cards!
But I don’t think it is a bad investment, I really do see it as a EDC and I would recommend it to people who do street magic and walk around!

  • 1. Steve answers: If it is like the linking safety pins that I bought back in the 80s, it is nearly self-working. I recall a couple of bold moves but nothing too difficult. Were I to pull out my linking pins, I'd practice for a week to restore my magical handling (confidence).

  • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: The size isn't mentioned in the instructions. However, the creator says that you will not need to wear it when performing because it's a practice ring. You can use any ring.

  • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It's impossible to answer how easy it is, as it depends on your skill level. I would say it isn't difficult as the gimmicked pins do most of the work.
