Ben Earl caused a SENSATION last year when we released his Less is More hardbacked book, as well as his deck-switching treatise. People know him for beautiful and intricate sleight-of-hand. Today we present a new side of Benjamin Earl, with this wonderful method to locate a freely selected card from a completely shuffled deck.
In a completely free manner a pack of cards is shuffled and a card is remembered. The pack is then given any number of shuffles and cuts, and yet the performer is able to instantly find the selected card.

This is very deceptive. It definitely can be a magician fooler, or an even more elusive way to work something into your favor as a utility. The procedural nature of this makes it seem so free to the spectator and trying to backtrack this is almost impossible. Im so glad I stumbled upon this and convinced myself to check this out. Unbelievable and I’ll be using it right away.
Brilliant in its simplicity under the guise of impossible complexity. One of my favorite card tricks…perhaps my favorite. Get it and use it!
This is definitely being put into my bag of impromptu tricks. Brings to the table a much more intriguing aspect of 'pick a card' card tricks. The instructions are easy to follow and even though it is just one method, the reveal of the selected card is really limited to your imagination.
Simple, impressive, and a real jaw-dropper!
I feel like this is more of a tool or method for integrating into your own routines. It can serve as a stand alone routine by itself. I'd rank it up there with Chad Long's Shuffling Lesson, but I like Chad's better. Just depends if you want to force 1 vs 4 cards. I will say, it's very hard to reverse engineer or backtrack through Red Herring, which given the name should be expected. I've used it as a force combined with DFB app where I force the card using Red Herring, they name a number, and we open the notes on my phone to show the card they selected is at that number on the list. It's been really strong for me combining the methods. The card selection part feels so free, that they normal explanation they try to come up with is the app somehow senses the card, or hears the card said out loud, and corrects it. So I started performing it without the card ever being said out loud before the reveal and it hits way harder. So it's 100% worth getting to use a utility move. Anything from Ben Earl is wonderful!

Have been doing this for several years now and absolutely love it. It may be on the Past Midnight project - I can’t remember. Bought the download and am very glad. And I enjoy the way Robert gets flustered. Laymen don’t stand a chance and cannot believe you can find the selected card. The reactions are excellent. The cost is cheap and the pain to glory ratio makes this one of the best FASDIU effects out there. You won’t be disappointed! Get it!

I liked it. I'm not much for card tricks but this does have an air of openness that entertains. This would also work well at a table with 2 or even 3 spectators involved in the process. It's also a nice force.

This trick from Ben is so simple to perform and yet is very deceptive that every step of the way you audience will believe that they are controlling every moment through out the routine because it all happens in their hands and is self working and this routine will even fool a lot of magician's with the simple method.
Absolutely amazing. This is a very simple trick that will generate huge reactions. I was amazed that there is no real sleight of hand here. The principal here (as with all magic we see nowadays, right!?) is not a new one but this application is utter perfection. This is a barn burner of a trick that does not require some crazy, knacky move or a deck memorization. The price tag on this effect is bonkers. Again, absolutely amazing.
I will tell you something: if you perform this effect with the proper dose of showmanship, your are going to rock! Or, you can use the method to find the selection and then whatever you want to do with that advantage. Whether way you choose, this is a great effect!
I’ve been using this a lot. It kills. The method is straightforward meaning there is plenty of scope to play with presentation and make this a very entertaining piece. Not that it’s something I sought out in purchasing this trick but this has also become a go to “magician fooler” for me.
I got this a few years ago and it is my go to effect for when someone says "Show me a trick". Why? Because it requires no effort. You don't need a full deck, no sleights, doesn't matter if the cards are busted and borrowed. You get in and out super clean and no one has any clue how it was done. Like a lot of tricks, once you learn this method you can apply it to other areas of your card work. It just seems super fair to the spectator and it 100% isn't.
Something so simple yet so fooling. You can pretty much perform this straight after watching in its most simplistic form, but take the theory and then combine iit th clever reveals and you have a miracle. It’s feels so fair and yet it’s not

What a great trick! The trick could be performed with no moves whatsoever. The secret setup can be done right in front of your spectator without arousing any suspicion. Mr. Earl also gives some very good advice about how to subtly influence your spectator to increase the feeling of fairness.All in all this a self-working card location of the highest caliber with some good tips on giving direction to a volunteer sprinkled on top. Highly recommended!

I think it’s a nice quick effect and very easy to do
This trick, like Ramjollock, is really brilliant. The effect on spectators will be all out of proportion to the work involved. It's easy to understand why Mr. Earl's helper (and I SWEAR I've seen him somewhere else, besides these two tricks...) stomps out of the room at the end, saying "I hate you!" in a loud, clear voice. There is simply no way to reconstruct what has happened. I think if you were to do this trick at the start of a set, your spectators would get the message pretty clearly--you know what you're doing, you're not using a "trick deck," and they might as well just sit back and enjoy it, because there's no way they can keep up with you.

The thinking behind this is great and can be applied to other effects. I showed a couple of people and they were speechless.

Man this is so simple yet so good! The explanation is detailed enough to follow as well. I personally love self-working effects a bunch and this is one of those MUST get "semi-automatic" tricks for your repertoire.

This is a really good, easy trick. It feels extremely fair for the spectator, but in the end you will always know the card that they are thinking of of without any hard moves.

Simple straight-forward trick. As another reviewer said, it only takes 2 seconds to set up and it's done right in the open. Super simple, but cleverly deceptive.
I knew how this trick was done when watching the trailer but I received it as part of a promotion so I'm gonna review it. It's a really clever and interesting variation of an old principle, much better and much nicer than the one I first learned. It's super simple, can be done by beginners and starters. The 'setup' takes two seconds, no sleight involved. Can be done with any deck, even borrowed. The ending can be changed to suit your imagination. And I know from performing it that it really gets awesome reactions. Video is super clear, short, straight to the points.If you like what you see, you're looking for something easy but impressive you can do anytime with any deck, then just grab it!
I fooled my friends hard with this one. You only need a normal deck of cards with a few nuances then your ready to go. Highly recommended!
I usually don't buy single CARD TRICK video downloads. But the trailer hits me. YES! It is a magician fooler and also a damn good card trick for layman, without any preparation and also with an incomplete deck. So, buy this. The guy in the performance is also GREAT. I love his reaction and this is authentic.
Despite a decent selection of shuffled deck material - mainly lifted from John Bannon books - this is a fine addition. It shows how you can pile on levels of impossibility to a method to disguise a method that might (to a magician) look obvious. Like the Gambling Method and the Answer, this is another elegant impossibility.
It just seems so fair. Of course, it’s not. I’ll be performing this at family gatherings at Christmas. It’s really good.
