EffectYou ask your spectator to think of any playing card, this done they are given a piece of paper and a pen and are asked to write down the card they are only thinking of. The paper is crumpled into a small ball and placed in their pocket. You now run through a regular deck and remove one card only. Without ANY questions the card is placed face down onto the spectators hand. For the first time they reveal the card out loud.THEY turn over the card it is exactly the card they are thinking of. ANY PEN, ANY PAPER, ANY DECK, NO QUESTIONS, NO SWITCHES OF ANY KIND. Can be repeated instantly.
This is a wonderful effect! I had one of these years ago and used it every day! I struggled to source the proper materials to fix the gimmick though when I had eventually worn it out. They had slightly changed the material used for the gimmick over the years and while it is now more sturdy than they used to be, it’s not quite as effective. I bought this replacement in hopes that they somehow still had the vintage material, but was a bit disappointed to see that they too had updated the material. (I realize how annoyingly rambling this sounds, trying to describe this issue without exposure, but bear with me) this is absolutely not a deal breaker, the method is super clever and even with the updated gimmick, it will still work, just have to focus a bit more on presentation and audience management. All in all, I love this effect and can’t wait to add it back into my show.
