"This can be done sitting, standing, leaning, with eyes open or closed, drunk or sober, in plain sight yet completely out of sight." Jon Racherbaumer

Gregory Wilson's deck-switching device is so simple in concept and execution that you can tell your audience in advance you're going to switch the deck and they WILL NOT SEE IT. It makes the classics instantly accessible: perfect poker deals, color-changing decks, story packs, new deck order finale and mental miracles. It's an out in the open deck switch, that looks great. If you've seen The Cooler, it's like that - but without the discrepancy.

Best of all, we arm you with a precision crafted gimmick and full streaming instructions that explains TEN original routines, handlings and applications by Gregory Wilson, David Gripenwaldt, Michael Weber, John Kennedy, Justin Miller and Raj Madhok.

"Unlike other deck switches using a gimmick, this is one you can and will do." Roberto Giobbi (Author of The Art of Switching Decks)

Cold Facts:

  • TEN original routines, handlings & applications, taught in over 3 hours of detailed instructions by Gregory Wilson
  • Instant reset
  • Easy to perform
  • Mostly angle-proof
  • Great for close-up or stand-up
  • No moving parts to wear out or break down
  • Pre-constructed in red Bicycle, but can be easily altered for any brand

Cold Case is hailed as the next evolution from respected deck switch pros all over the world.

"The problem with most deck switches is the discrepancy. But, with Greg's gimmick, you can do it under test conditions while hidden in plain sight." Rick Lax

Cold Case is so devious it should be criminal. Make the switch!

Greg Wilson never disappoints. In addition to a high quality gimmick, you get an exhaustive list of ideas and examples of how to make the switch. It really comes down to the psychology and timing rather than the specific switch you use. I'm grateful Greg acknowledges this and gives multiple scenarios to choose from.

Good quality gimmick and incredible value in the routines taught in the video lectures! This is such an imperceptible and practical way to do a deck switch.

This is a very well-built product, and with care should last quite long. For those of us not skilled at various deck switches, this allows for bold and blatant moves to be done literally right under their noses! Lengthy and in depth instructions give many examples and ideas. I appreciate him troubleshooting when problems arise and ways to avoid and deal with them. Another great tool camouflaged in plain sight.

Well made gimmick (and easily made "like new"), great video teachings. What is great about this is how organic it is in ANY situation where you need a deck switch as it is simply a gimmick disguised as a card box. While it comes as red bikes... you can easily change it to whatever card box you desire. Simple, perfect method.

Cold Case is one of the best magic purchases I have ever made. It takes muscle memory, but it is worth it. Greg Wilson is a great teacher.

This is amazing!!!! anyone that does any work with cards should have this. Not only do you get the gimmick but you get 3 HOURS of instructions and routines. The first hour is just different switches that you can do. Gregory Wilson does an amazing job teaching, going over the does and don'ts. I personally love to use this with Joshua Jays Phantom deck and Prism deck. Greg actually uses the phantom deck for a routine in the video.

If there are two skills essential to mem deck work, they are false shuffles and deck switches. Of the many gimmicks to accomplish the latter, my favorite has been and still is the device known for reasons I’ve never been able to fathom, Vodka — sadly, no longer available. Cold Case runs a close second. There’s added value in the over three hour(!) video by Gregory Wilson that accompanies the device. It’s full of nuggets applicable not only to Cold Case in particular, but to deck switches in general and well worth the attention of the serious student. And Wilson proves yet again that he is one of the best video instructors in magic.

If you can’t get your hands on a Vodka gimmick, Cold Case can be used under all same conditions as Vodka and has the added benefit for close up of being slightly more realistic looking.

This is a fantastic gimmick for deck switching - if you are right handed! As a lefty, despite Vanishing saying there's no problem, I have found it harder to do the moves cleanly. That said, fellow lefties will know that we spend our lives "adjusting" to the right dominant world and with a bit of work you can get it smooth - you just have to practice more to get the muscle memory required. It would have been nice to have the option of a left handed version though (hint, hint!). It can't be hard to tool it the other way around. Complaint over! This is as good a utility as you can find and helps get around the problem of getting rid of (or getting out) a gaffed deck to do the next effect without creating suspicion.

Got this for exactly what its advertised as. And being that its not made of paper made my decision even easier. Problem is that mine came with a bit of an offset print. So I don't use it as much as I would've loved to.

  • chris asks: When I receive the cold case gimmick will a blank deck be included in the purshase

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: This is the card case - you do not get a blank deck.
    • 2. Kim answers: Yes, no decks come with this, it is a special case that will allow you to switch decks
  • Michael A asks: I'm left handed...can i still use this?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It should work well, regardless of your dominant hand.
  • Matthew asks: Is this suitable for a beginner? What skill level is required to pull off a deck switch using the device/methods taught?

    • 1. James answers: With enough practice and rehearsal, you can learn it.

  • Kyenn asks: How durable is the gimmick and what are the angles

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: The angles are really good. Probably a little more than 180 degrees. The gimmick is made of metal and will not break.
  • Kevin asks: Does this require a deck of 52 cards to be switched to another deck of 52? Would less cards for each deck (like 20) work with the switch?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You can use less cards but the switch becomes a little bit difficult.
  • Peter asks: I’m left-handed and it does not work well at all. It’s a real struggle. I wish I’d know this at the point of purchased. Please could you let me know how I can go about returning it.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You can learn about setting up a return here at our FAQ page: https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/faqs/can-i-return-a-magic-trick/
  • Peter asks: Terrible for left-handlers. Will there be a left-handed version? So I purchased mine well in advance of Christmas as a present my wife could give me on the day, only to discover it’s really awkward for left-handlers, (irrespective of what some here might say). I was busy over Christmas and new year. Finally get a chance to give it one more go before deciding to return it - only to discover time has passed and there’s a two month stop on returns! So I’m left with a useless piece of metal. Moral of the story; don’t purchase and then put aside in advance of Christmas! It will now stay wrapped up (in pristine condition), in the hope that a left-handed version is made and Vanishing Inc are generous enough to swap it out for me. I do think the advertising could have been clearer. Even if some can master it, I think the very least would have been a caveat along the lines of “more suitable for right-handlers”.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: We've not heard many issues between left-handed and right-handed users. The switch will take a bit of practice in either direction. That said, we want to ensure you're taken care of here. Please contact customer support, and we'll be sure to get you squared away!
