Two fully-examinable, 24-inch cords pass through each other like smoke, linking and unlinking in increasingly impossible ways, without the benefit of gimmicks, boxes, or difficult sleight-of-hand.

Next, a finger ring is borrowed, then threaded onto one cord, whereupon it travels instantly and impossibly to the other. And that`s just the beginning! 18 tricks and techniques are taught on this detailed DVD featuring Duraty's legendary strings-and-ring routine! Every phase is eye popping, every method ingenious, and the routine can be performed close-up or on stage! Comes with the perfect cords and rings so you can start learning this astonishing miracle right away!

Running time: 59 minutes

Enclavor & Liberator is a DVD (lasting about an hour) plus the ideal, ungimmicked props you need to perform the effects.

This is an absolute gem. At the time of writing, this item was out of stock. I hope that it becomes available again in some format.

What I received from Vanishing Inc. is a DVD lasting just under an hour and some simple props. On the DVD the French magican Duraty demonstrates and teaches eighteen effects from his legendary strings-and rings routine. This is classic magic at its best.

You are provided with a pair of thick shoe laces that are perfect for the routines. I received one neon pink and one neon yellow one. You also get two rings that are just the right size for the effects taught. The quality of these is not as good as that of the shoe laces. The join in the rings is very visible and they appear to be made of steel covered with shiny gold lacquer. It would be well worth investing in a better qaulity pair of rings, but at least you receive everything you need to get started.

On the DVD, Duraty comes across as the elder stateman of that elegant, swerve style of magic that has inexplicably been largely forgotten today. He is a delightful performer and teacher. The effects require some sleight of hand (and therefore careful practice in front of a mirror) but nothing is very difficult. The effects are all very visual and baffling. You wouldn’t perform all of the effects in one set. That would be too much of a good thing. However, this DVD provides you with plenty of variations so that you can custom a routine to your own needs at any particular time.

Because the required props take up almost no pocket space, this would be a great every day carry. (I suppose that you could find a way to use the shoe laces from your shoes plus a finger ring to make the props true EDCs.) The effects can be performed close up or in a parlour setting. With some of them, it hepls to have spectator’s come up on the platform making for very good audience interaction.

If you work with close-up linking rings, you might consider working some of these shoe lace effects into your routine with the help of this master magician. Also, I can see the potential of combining these effects with any magic involving string, shoe laces and small rings (e.g. finger rings - although the the rings supplied for these effects are somewhere in between the diameter of finger rings and close-up linking rings and do seem to be the ideal size.) If you perform the self-tying shoe lace effect, Enclavor & Liberator might help you to know where to go next. Another direction to go in might be Polo mint tricks including Minto-O by Liam Jumpertz.

Highly recommended.

This is fun stuff.Maybe it's just me but I'm surprised I have not seen these ideas before. Like the Paul Curry, Aldo Colombini Missing Link on steroids.
