You show your audience a large white card with a single big black dot on one side. You turn the card over and find four dots on the other side...Turn over the card again and there are now THREE dots!! Turn it over again and find SIX dots! You explain that by covering some dots with your fingers and not covering others it creates an illusion based on the patterns of dots we see on dice and dominoes.
Your audience THINKS they understand the trick until, all of a sudden 6 dots appear on one side, then three on the back and then, when you turn the card over one last time, like magic, EIGHT dots appear!!

Context: I've used the Tenyo "What's Next" (parlor size) for decades and recently temporarily "lost" a dot. That prompted me to buy this ("Crazy Dots" stage size), larger version to have as a back up. Now for the review. In the past, spots on "What's Next" caused a shadow sometimes and resulted in audience (adult after the show) telling me the "the correct secret" because of the shadow. Dots on "Crazy Dots" (the product being reviewed here) don't cause a shadow, a plus, but as a result are slightly more difficult in making the magic happen. The larger size of this card (stage size) also makes it harder for me to execute the magic unnoticeably. My biggest adjustment with "Crazy Dots" has been that the layout of the dots is different than the layout on "What's Next." This means somewhat changing the patter I have used for years (I'll accidentally say the wrong thing as the old patter is so automatic) or changing the handling of the card, which is even more awkward for me. However, the trick itself is fantastic, gets great audience reaction if presented entertainingly, and well worth the price.
I used this for my Halloween show and it got great reactions. The kicker ending is great and the size and quality were perfect for a large show. At first I received a scratched copy but the great service at Vanishing immediately resolved the issue and sent me a new one.
This is a classic, it's a great way to cold open your show or to open from an intermission (I believe Greg Freeing uses this right after his intermission.). I have been practicing it quite a bit to change up the performance, though you can't go wrong with the usual performance. If you are considering getting this effect I say do it. It's not very expensive, doesn't require lots of practice to perform, and is an all around fantastic effect!
Better than I expected. This is one of those tricks that are so old they’re new again. Very well made, this will last forever. Perfect size for stage.
I was a bit wary as this effect has been used in my show with actually great results, including, yes, including adults. Long story short, I find this one better! The dots look more real, the mechanics are a little more practice but worth it. The durability is a stand out though!
Although I’ve been doing magic for 50 years, I have never performed this effect. I’ve seen it done by many performers, including, yes, D.C. but never considered it before now. This is a beautifully made and extremely deceptive version. Hard to see the gaffs even when you’re the one doing the trick. Crazy Dots gets my highest recommendation!
The construction of this is way better than I expected based off the price. The gimmicks are nearly imperceptible, even up close. The card itself is super strong and will last many performances. I’m very happy with this purchase.
I never had this as a kid so there is no nostalgia here for me. However, this is a very strong piece of magic, don't underestimate it. Everyone I've shown this to has been pretty floored by it. The prop is built very well and will last a lifetime. You will be up and performing this within an hour.
When I first open it I thought “dots” weren’t included. Their flat design is great along with the sturdy card design makes this a dream to perform.
I love this trick! I did it a lot on the street and got great reactions. Some little kids 2-4 did not get the trick but still great.
I was 17 when I 1st had this summer class effect it must have for any stage effect ,it easy funny to do! Any one who see you with this stand alone effect will say wow and it a lot of fun for kids party too!
