Despite requiring just a few steps to solve, the “Picklock Puzzle Box” challenges you to simultaneously use the rational and irrational parts of your brain to find the solution.

Upon first glance, the task becomes quite obvious. To open the box, you must unlock the lock holding it closed. When you look closer though, you’ll see that the key to this lock has been locked around the lock itself. It sits there teasing you with how it’s both so close, yet also so far away.

Inspired by the art of lock picking, the solution to the “Picklock Puzzle Box” is more crafty than simply using a key. Don’t worry though, even if you’ve never picked a lock in your life, you can still open this box.

In fact, before solving the puzzle on his YouTube channel, magician, puzzler, and star of TruTV’s “Big Trick Energy” Chris Ramsay admitted he never picked a lock in his life. Yet, with a bit of creative thinking and patience, he was eventually able to solve the puzzle.

While he labeled the “Picklock Puzzle Box” as a “Level 7” or “Expert” puzzle, we think it’s well within the range of any intermediate puzzler.

Handmade with laser-cut wood in Germany, the “Picklock Puzzle Box” also looks gorgeous on any shelf.

The box per se is well manufactured and looks good. However, you don't get with it the solution how to open it. Here you are on your own, and although you can search the solution in the internet, I personally think if you buy a puzzle the solution should be provided with it. Last not least in my opinion it is not a real puzzle. To open the box you have to know a little something, but this is rather dumb and stupid, like if you have to have a second key with you. Resumee: Nice box, can be used as such, but uninspiring puzzle.
