Project Polaroid - magic
Project Polaroid Project Polaroid Project Polaroid Project Polaroid Project Polaroid Project Polaroid

For centuries, camera technology undergoes back-to-back dramatic transformations, all to fulfill one human obsession: to immortalize their best moments.

That brings us to printed photos. Though substantial, they are a relic of the past. Once taken, nothing inside is changeable, or photoshopped. But did you know that you can actually manipulate printed photos in real life?

Project Polaroid isn't just any magic trick; it's more than that. It's a door to infinite possibilities. Imagine: being able to vanish the Statue of Liberty like the legendary David Copperfield or even materialize your portrait out of thin air.

You will receive:

  • Two pre-made gimmicks - Vanishing Statue of Liberty and Red Mercury Card Trick. Each gimmick was HAND ASSEMBLED by our FOUNDER and co-creator of Project Polaroid himself, Finix Chan.
  • Four extra gimmicks - Princess Card Trick, Magician's Force, Crane Origami, and Ghost Lady. Assembly required.
  • 30 x regular photos - 5 photos per plot; 3 photos (after the magic happens) and 2 photos (before the magic happens).
  • One refill supplies pack.
  • 2 hour detailed online instructions.

Q: What's the difficulty level of Project Polaroid?
A: Extremely Easy! The gimmick is self-contained. With a single flick, the magic happens!

Q: Can I customize my own photos?
A: It's possible. Once you have learned the concept, you may build your own Polaroid routine. (Note that this will require some technical know-how and arts and crafts on your part - including printing double-sided photos.)

Q: Are its gimmicks well thought out?
A: Over 100 prototypes have been built by Finix. Moreover, with contributions from Jasoon Khor (an expert in the printing industry), we couldn't be more satisfied with the final result.

Q: How's the quality of the gimmicks? Are they durable?
A: Every paper-based product is prone to wear and tear upon long-time usage. We do include supplies and extra gimmicks so you can repair or build a new one. Please fully watch the online instruction before handling your gimmicks.

Q: Do I need to prepare anything in advance to perform this?
A: Not necessarily. You will receive two pre-made gimmicks HAND-ASSEMBLED by Finix Chan, co-creator himself! What you need to do instead, is to customize the pre-made gimmick to fit your preferences.

Q: Any possibility for add-on effects for Project Polaroid?
A: Yes! The main reason why we named this effect "Project" is because of its expandability. Infinite possibilities! Our founder, Finix, will continue to refine the gimmicks and develop more routines and effects with this concept. When we are ready, we will roll out add-ons from time to time.

Q: Are TV rights included?
A: Sorry, commercial rights are reserved for Project Polaroid, including but not limited to TV and web shows. Please contact Skymember Presents for commercial inquiries.

"Project Polaroid is perfect for anyone looking for a visual in your face type of change that is easy to perform and customizable. I love it!!" João Miranda

"The effect is AMAZING, and the method is BRILLIANT!!" Les French Twins

This passes my "three easies" test. It's easy to make, easy to use, and easy to make look good! I'm impressed. Really good magic! I'll be performing this a lot at my gigs.

I was fortunate enough to get this early and my goodness is it good. I got the opportunity to experiment with it a couple hours after receiving the gimmick. It is fairly durable, very visual, and the gimmick itself, although not able to hand out for immediate inspection, is fairly hidden. Even in daylight it was difficult to catch any discreptency. With that being said I find this hyper visual effect to be totally worth the purchase price. There will be very minimal arts and crafts to make your own but it does come with some of them preconstructed. I hope you all are able to get your hands on this!

The trailer suggests that the spectator can have the change made in his hands. That is the only reason that I bought this effect. I expected a new method, not the old standby method used by eight million others. In the waste basket !

This effect looks great on video, if only all your audiences were on video it would be killer. Unfortunately, the action is not at all convincing to the naked eye. The gimmicks are fragile and cannot bear even cursory examination. I can only assume the people who seemed "amazed" in the demo video were nearsighted or paid. Very disappointed.

Are you kidding me? The only thing I can understand in the instructions is "If this happens... if this happens... if this happens". Guess what? It ALL happens. Other than that, I have no idea what language he's speaking. Tried both pre-made gimmicks and they worked only once. It looks terrible unless you're far away and mine only worked once. I'm not gonna even waste my time building more gimmicks. A waste of $40.

Community questions about Project Polaroid

Have a question about this product? It's possible others do too. Ask here and other Vanishing Inc. Magic customers will be able to respond with assistance! Alternatively, email us and we can help too.

  • David asks: May I hand out the "changed" photo at the conclusion of the effect? For example, the photo that shows the Statue of Liberty gone, can I hand that out? And-----can I make the Statue of Liberty reappear? Thank you.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Hand out - not really, no. Reappear - no, you will need to reset.
  • David asks: Can you make more gimmicks up after the initial ones wear out? Or requires refills?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yup!
  • Victor asks: Is there a reset?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It takes a few seconds.
  • Don asks: I don't quite understand. I'm under the impression that after a certain number of refills have been sold, there will be no more of that type gimmick made. But you say you have plans to expand the project?!...I don't get it. Are you saying that certain gimmicks will stand the chance of becoming obsolete?....Thank's!

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: None of the gimmicks will become obsolete. You are taught how to modify and repair the gimmicks should you need and we are also in talks with the manufacturer about replacements.
  • Douglas asks: Can some of the effects on the show video be created (easily) like the pet change?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You cannot make the gimmick easily. We recommend buying it.
    • 2. Paul answers: The pet change doesn't come with the package.
  • Kenneth asks: Are there ungimmicked photos that we can switch out for examination?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes. You get 30 regular photos.
  • Edwin asks: Do you get the coin one? (Or taught how to make it) ? Thank you this looks amazing

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yup!
    • 2. Paul answers: I'd have to say that I disagree with Edwin on this. On the promo Felix, presumably, performs a coin flourish and vanish - which you can either do or not. However, the package does not include a polaroid picture of an empty hand / fingers and subsequently, the fingers of an hand holding the vanished coin. More importantly, there is no explanation as to how you can make the type of photos you need to go with this effect / gimmick.
  • Guy asks: Can I use part of the routine of myself doing part of it for my own showreel advertising? Just a bit, teaser????

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, you can perform this effect in your own showreel.
  • Thomas asks: Is everything explained which is show in the trailer. Is it easy to prepair the gimmicked polaroid foto?

    • 1. Niki answers: You will learn everything show in the trailer and the gimmick is easy to fix.

  • Paul asks: A Q & A above was; Q: Can I customize my own photos? A: It's possible. Once you have learned the concept, you may build your own Polaroid routine. Hence, please advise me which photographic retail shop in the UK can develop / produce back-to-back polaroid photos and / or which Fuji Mini Polaroid camera can produce back-to-back photos so that you can "build your own Polaroid toutine" as stated above ??

    • 1. SGKYDUYEN answers: Please drop an email to magic@vanishingincmagic.com they will be happy to help you out
    • 2. Paul answers: Will do. Many thanks.
