Think of these as magnets themselves, so yes as long as the poles are correctly aligned.

Does the quarter itself have a magnet in it or are these the Tenyo steel core quarters that are magnetic?

Got this for magnetic detection with Flux. It does the job. It does take some practice to get the right angle with flux for heads/tails detection. I'm happy with the distance. It looks pretty good, but I wouldn't compare two quarters side by side. This was an old (pre-state) quarter. Only thing that seemed a little off was the edge color and milling feel -- but this won't be scrutinized for this sort of effect.

Randy K asks: Just got the Tango Quarter Dollar and very dissapointed. Every picture of their coin that I have seen shows a regular quarter on the heads side with George Washington and the eagle on the back. The quarter I recieved shows a Wyoming commemerative bucking horse on the back that that looks like an arcade coin and not many pepole would recoginize as tails and would make my using it in my act not work. I had another quarter from tango with the correct back of an eagle, but this back does not look good. Do I have any options to return it for a realistic correct one? Everything I have got in the past from Vanishing has been good, but this is not good.
