Hindu Magic Self Taught
Learn the secrets behind classic Indian effects.
Here are the history and explanations of several classic Indian magic effects, as performed by Indian street magicians. Some of the effects described are the Mango Tree trick, the Basket trick (still performed today by Western magicians), the Dry Sands effects, performed by Doug Henning on national television, the Cotton Trick, and several other more obscure and seldom seen effects. The booklet concludes with an account of the legendary Indian Rope Trick.
“A very interesting read.” -David Roth

Customer reviews for Hindu Magic Self Taught
This covers some tricks in a very halfhearted manner, lightly touching on methods and barely talking about cultural significance. There are better books on this subject- some of which are on this website- but this is cheap enough to satisfy basic curiosity. For more on the cultural significance of magic in India, I recommend the book Jadoowallahs, Jugglers and Jinns by John Zubrzycki.
