In stock.

Causing your money to multiply is, perhaps, the most iconic trick in magic. In the past you needed a gimmick, glue, and lots of preparation to make this trick happen. “400 Lux” is COMPLETELY impromptu and uses no gimmicks of any kind. You change four EXAMINABLE one-dollar bills into four EXAMINABLE hundred dollar bills.

Creator Kyle Littleton takes you through every step of the process. The routine is easy to learn, easy to perform, and imminently practical, since it uses just eight normal bills. It’s possibly even stronger than gimmicked versions as the bills can be examined before and after, and the change looks just as magical!

  • Use any bills — no gimmicks
  • If your currency is different sizes, change blank paper to bills
  • Includes multiple handlings
  • 25 minutes of high-quality explanation
"It's a beautiful thing when sleights can flawlessly replace a gimmick! Kyle Littleton's "400 Lux" is a great alternative to all the "Easy Money" variations. "400 Lux" is pure magic done with pure sleight of hand!" Karl Hein

Running time: 25 minutes

I think it is worth it if you don't want to do the preparation of the other effects like this out there. From audience point of view, I think this is just as strong. I plan on using this effect to hand out money afterwards, that is, I show up at cashier and show 4- $1 and say "oops, I don't have enough money, hate it when that happens, let me fix this" and change the $1 into 4-$20 and pay for whatever coffee/grocery I'm buying. I have several of the other effects, but too lazy to make the preparation and although I've watched the tutorial, I've never gotten around to making the gimmick. It is unfortunate that there is no video of the performance on trailer. Perhaps that's to hide the secret as I think if you are astute enough, you can backtrack and figure it out. I think visually, it is just as impressive from a spectator's point of view. The other similar effects out there I think are slightly easier to execute, but if you are planning to do this often, I think it will come pretty easily to perform. I think this is my 3rd effect of this sort and like I said, the other 2 are still sitting in its box but I think I will try this as no arts/craft involved.

I love any magic where I can end clean and pass out the objects. It took some practice to get everything to look smooth, but once I got it down, I never stopped performing it.

Official review from MAGIC Magazine

From the May 2016 MAGIC Magazine. Reviewed by John Wilson

I spend long hours trying to limit the required preparation in my routines. I love removing sleights where possible and finding gaffless ways to perform effects that usually require them. Kyle Littleton has done a wonderful job of removing the gaff from one of the most popular pieces of close-up magic in the last few years.

The effect here is that of Patrick Page’s Easy Money, an effect that has been popularized by published handlings and refinements from several magic notables. Hundy 500, Heiny 500, Slow Burn, and several other versions of this effect have presented us with minor differences in handling and subtle differences in the construction of the required gaff. 400 Lux provides the versatility of most of the available change styles seen in other versions while completely removing the gaff from the equation. The required preparation should take under a minute.

The routine looks like all of the other bill-changing effects, with the exception of being able to hand out the bills for examination at the end. The traditional gaff for the effect has been replaced by some sleight of hand and clever handling. The bills appear to be shown cleanly before the effect and really are freely examinable at the end. This is the simplest, cleanest version of this effect that I have seen.

This is so very clean and well thought through. The method is exactly as promised. The handling is natural and simple to master, leaving the performer free to focus on their own presentation.

This trick is similar to others in the market. It is good, however to be honest I prefer different options. Probably is just because of my style. It is not a good one, it requires more practice than the others options in the market. If you decide to give it a try you will be happy with this.

I like the effect very much. I only have two criticisms both which concern the production of the DVD itself. First, the DVD teaches the setup and method for several different presentations but nowhere on the DVD doe Kyle perform the trick as he would for a lay audience. Instead, he launches right into construction and methods. Second, it would be considerably more helpful to see the construction/assembly of the packet and the performance from the performer's perspective. An overhead camera would do nicely to achieve this. When the instructions are presented from the spectator's point of view, everything is reversed as when watching yourself in a mirror.

I really like Kyle Littleton's version of the multiple bill change plot! I know, I know, there are already many other worthy bill changes out there, so what makes this one different? 1) No gimmicks, so you can be up and running as soon as you have bills to change. 2) No gimmicks means you don't have extra money tied up in an unusable gimmick. If you decide to spend the money, no problem! 3) Because there are no gimmicks, you can hand [all] the bills out afterwards.

I understand, handing bills out after changing won't be for everyone. However, even if you don't hand them out, it's still just as strong as some of the other changes I own and have used. To be perfectly honest, most people want to look at bills immediately after they've changed (who wouldn't?!), and this version allows you to do this if you have a controlled environment. Kyle performed this at Magi-Fest, and I didn't notice anything when he handed the bills to me because I was too in awe of the change and display.

This will take some effort to get correct, but nothing a few days of practice won't fix. I found when I started that I needed to "work" the new bills I was using. Once I did that, everything became much easier. If you master this, you will always be ready to perform a beautiful multi-bill change as quickly as you can get the bills (ATM, etc.). Recommended!
