Official review from MAGIC Magazine

From the October 2015 MAGIC Magazine. Reviewed by Jared Kopf
Before he reached his thirtieth year, Dai Vernon’s contemporaries were convinced he was an incomparable prodigy. By the time Vernon was in his early forties, Garrick Spencer’s playful sobriquet for his friend — “The Professor” — became devoid of any irony.

Paul Fox, an incredible artist in his own right, once wrote in a letter to Faucett Ross that he would “always regard [Vernon] as the outstanding magical genius of the age.”

Given the legendary status Vernon achieved in his own lifetime, it seems myopic to claim he has risen to a greater level of legend since his death in 1992; but Vernon’s true contributions to the art of magic are often overshadowed by the richness of his uncommonly long and mythically adventurous life.
On this new double-disc set for Vanishing Inc., however, Roberto Giobbi attempts to deconstruct Vernon’s genius and illuminate what really makes him one of the important historical figures of the twentieth century.

Giobbi’s attention to detail in the video and the accompanying 79-page PDF is exactly what the Professor’s magic deserves. If you are a Vernon aficionado, some of these priceless bits of business may have escaped your attention. And if you are a newcomer to Vernon’s magic, Giobbi’s seminar serves as an excellent introduction to the life and work of one of our art’s greatest geniuses.
