Preferring to keep a low profile and minimal internet presence, Tyler Erickson is the prototypical “Underground” magician. Over the last 30 years, he has made a living as a full-time corporate and private party entertainer. During that time, he’s also built a successful parallel career as a personal instructor, dedicated to helping other professionals (and serious amateurs) from around the world. And, lucky for us, he’s going to be sharing some of his best material and theory during a jam-packed Masterclass!

Tyler has created a one-of-a-kind custom Masterclass that is accessible to magicians of all skill levels. While there will be some advanced material, the majority of the content is practical, straightforward workers. This allows even those who are new to magic to work on something that might be a little challenging but is definitely within reach (and totally worth the effort!)

The only thing better than Tyler Erickson’s devastatingly good chops is his ability to explain complex topics in a direct, logical way that any magician can understand. From analyzing every aspect of an effect to the overall psychology of magic, Tyler understands what makes magic great. And, after watching the “Tyler Erickson Masterclass”, so will you!

Throughout this amazing Masterclass, you’ll learn finesses and tips on foundational sleight of hand, as well as unpublished original sleights designed to work better in strolling or platform environments. These adaptations are designed to reduce or redesignate the flash areas, increase fluidity, and improve reliability. (Workers will LOVE this).

If that isn’t enough, each sleight is built into a routine, and each routine is dissected into useful theoretical concepts that once understood can be transplanted into any of the magic you already do.

Learn how to access the power of your Gaze, Tension, Speech, Movement, and Internal Script for devastating results. Absorb expert insights into a standing performer’s choreography in relation to their performance surface. Experience magic broken down in a way unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

“Tyler Erickson understands the difference between stringing routines together into an act and weaving them together into a show.” Derek Hughes

"Rarely do I meet a magic teacher with the technical skills that Tyler possesses. His comprehensive knowledge of magic history and his ability to perform and teach are astonishing." Jeff McBride

"Tyler Erickson is a quite exceptional magician and a gifted teacher. One would be very fortunate to study with him." Eugene Burger

You’ll want to get yourself a nice notebook for this Masterclass because it is filled with invaluable information—a lot of which he is sharing for the first time on a broad scale. You’re guaranteed to walk away a better magician.

Session 1 - February 4, 2024 (4pm ET | NYC Time)

In Week 1, Tyler will be explaining a well-designed, practical Coins Across routine chosen specifically to help illustrate many of the core principles of magic choreography and design. It’s a mini-masterclass on how to utilize your performance surface to your greatest advantage.

Not to be overlooked are his innovations on an almost angle-proof Click Pass and tips on using the Classic Palm. Those who enjoy this level of detail will also treasure the Lightning Leipzig section in which Tyler details the real work on holding a truly invisible break. This is one of those details that can be an absolutely game-changer to your card magic, especially for those who do a pinky count.

Undoubtedly though, the surprise stunner of Week 1 for most magicians will likely be Tyler’s chapstick routine for impromptu situations when you only have a few seconds to dazzle someone. This will undoubtedly be a new favorite EDC for many of you.

Session 2 - February 11, 2024 (4pm ET | NYC Time)

Warm up your hands before Week 2 because Tyler will be diving deep into his knowledge of hardcore—but tremendously useful—card sleights. If you’re currently not looking to learn any hard moves, don’t worry. While the sleights are covered in tremendous detail, the surrounding ideas on theory, choreography, and motivation are incredibly helpful for improving your performance as a whole. As always, the emphasis is on working surrounded or close to it, so your efforts will be good for more than just a webcam.

Tyler will also be letting loose one of his most cherished secrets—a nearly instantaneous Diagonal Palm Shift. This unique variation does not telegraph compared to many other versions, and you’ll be learning a direct Card Under Box routine so you can put it into action right away. This is ridiculously beautiful, and a must-watch for anyone who is a fan of sleight-of-hand card magic. Also included is a pass designed for the standing performer, invisible to a seated audience from almost any angle… Including underneath! (Super useful for the stage or strolling)

Week 2 even covers a modern classic: Sponge Balls. Much like the previously taught Coins Across, this brief routine was specifically chosen to be both strong and practical, but also because it is a perfect way to leverage a false transfer for maximum impact. Tyler shares his Retention of Vision transfer, which not only looks great head-on, but also from both the right and left! He also includes the Al Schneider Transfer, one of the best sleights for universal application, and his preferred first choice when it comes to basics.

Best of all, Tyler is joined by his good friend and long term student (since he was 8!) Nick Diffatte. Nick purposefully chose not to revisit the Coins Across and Sponge Routine he had learned long ago, specifically so you could see what had stuck and what had gotten rusty. This gives the session a human feel, where you can get a sneak peek into professional training and the real-time discussions it provokes.

Live Q&A - February 25, 2024 (4pm ET | NYC Time)

Join Tyler live on Zoom to ask him any questions you have about the Masterclass or improving your magic in general.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: This Q&A is happening 2 weeks after the final lecture as opposed to the usual week after.

I’ve known Tyler from going to FFFF convention. This guy is a real student of magic. Not just a teacher. His attention to detail is second to none. Highly recommend this lecture, especially if you want to learn the why’s of different moves. HIs worms eye pass is flawless. But smooth

For starters, my name is Tyler Couch, and I asked a question about Capstick in the Q&A! So you already are aware that Tyler has taught me quite a few times throughout the last 5 or so years. I am a new nurse, and I performed Capstick for another nurse who just mentioned they needed chapstick. I show them the routine and the way they described it to everybody else is so much more incredible than it simply vanishing and reappearing on the chapstick! She said something along the lines of "He took the cap, and somehow threw it perfectly onto the chapstick without me seeing it." So yeah, Capstick gets a win. It's already a favorite. I could go on and on about how amazing of a teacher Tyler is. Not only is he amazing at sleights, but his way of thinking is truly unique and magical. He's funny, awesome, and you'll be happy to have this Master Class in your arsenal!

Great info, yet again from the great resource of Tyler Erickson!
I'm fortunate to get in-person coaching from Tyler regularly. His thoughts on refining moves that I once thought were good, have now grown into much stronger techniques that have increased my skills, and allowed for much better confidence while performing.

Rather than getting the next 10 tricks I look for routine enhancer with respect to timing, misdirection, details on slights, etc. Tyler‘s masterclass is all about that. I would love to see him coming back maybe then focusing on some longer routines.

I’ve been fortunate to be Tyler’s student for over 7 years.
Like all the best professionals, Tyler has a deep understanding of the ‘why’ of every move.
So Tyler not only teaches beautiful utility moves, but he teaches the why of all the fine points that make the moves great and fundamental.
As a teacher he is one of the rare people who can explain why someone’s technique is suboptimal and help fix it on a very deep level.
This masterclass is archetypical of Tyler’s classes; each word has a purpose and the density of his message needs several listenings to fully extract and benefit from Tyler’s wealth of years of experience.

Damned, this stuff is so well analyzed and thought to the end.
Very well done. I hope I will be able to transfer at least a bit of that material into my skills.
Thank you for booking Tyler for the Masterclass.

This is exactly what a "master class" should be. Diving deep into the details that can elevate what you're already doing into extremely strong magic and providing superior technical alternatives for challenging, real-world performing situations.

Every month should be Tyler Erickson month.

Man I loved this Masterclass. Aside from being a technical marvel, Tyler is exceptionally gifted when it comes to the psychology and supporting choreography behind the moves we do. From motivated action to naturalness to directing attention through gaze, he'll get you thinking differently about your magic. His ability to break down a "simple" thimble-type trick into its individual components beyond the technical aspects is really astounding. I've always disliked thimble magic, but I'm adding this little routine into my arsenal.

More reasons to watch:
His alternative to the Erdnase Bottom Palm is phenomenal, and should be in any card magician's repertoire.
I can't believe I'm excited to practice a finger break.

So many principles jam packed into 2 hours.. and this is only session 1. Can't wait for session 2 and the live chat. Well worth the price. I'm glad I purchased this, because I will need to re-watch again and again.

WOW!!! What a Masterclass! What a teacher! Thank God I can download this...and play it over and over and over.....................and over, etc.

Tyler did not just teach general principles (i.e., like "Now do a classic palm", No! He went into excruciating detail over and over again...And from different angles. And explained the little bits of business that are the difference between success and failure (i.e., like how to move a coin into classic palm position with your middle finger without dropping the coin on the floor....or how to show an open palm display with a coin classic palmed but unable to be seen by the spectators...or how to glace at the audience at precisely the right moment to successfully misdirect the audience away from "the move"...or how to hold a card break...or how to cull a card...or how to bottom palm a card.) Whew! I'm emotionally and intellectually drained!

I may be forgetting something important but, in essence, Tyler spent approximately one hour on a "simple" (Yeh! Right) "coins across" routine utilizing three coins and a metal washer. Excruciatingly detailed small bits of business that make all the difference between successfully performing impossible magic moments vs. a pretty good trick vs...don't quit your day job magic.

How important were the points that Tyler was teaching and sharing? Important enough that I didn't dare dash into the kitchen for 15 seconds to pour a cup of coffee refill for fear of missing another golden nugget.

How good a teacher is Tyler? So good that he actually made me excited to begin practicing the moves and little bits of business over and over and over again that he was sharing...until I can begin to reach a level of competence that, if Tyler was watching, he might utter a "Great Job! comment or maybe utter an subdued "Atta Boy" word of encouragement.

This 1st lesson was sooo detailed and revelatory that I am saddened that Tyler's Masterclass is limited to only two lessons and a closing Q&A session.

Query: When is Tyler's scheduled to teach a second three-part Masterclass. Please let us know far in advance so that we do not inadvertently schedule something so plebeian as a conflicting summer vacation.

Mike

P.S. OH! I almost forgot my manners....Tyler, thank you so very much for this magic lesson this afternoon. It was an experience not to be forgotten.

Tyler spoke faster than I can think, but his speech was remarkably clear, so I was able to process the information satisfactorily. I enjoyed the interactions with Nick Diffatte, too.
