You have someone open up the crossword puzzle book to any page and think of a word. Even with your back turned, you instantly know the world. But, the routine isn’t over there. They can then open to a different page and look at another puzzle and you’ll be able to tell them the answer to the clue they are merely thinking of.

I am so happy to see this re-released, this is one of the first 'Mentalist' tricks I ever performed, in fact, I wore it out to the point of dog eared pages and the cover held together with packing tape. It's also the first effect that turned me away from just performing card tricks, (not that there is anything wrong with card tricks) just, that I evolved into more a Mentalist performer due to these type of effects. It's also 100% fool proof. If you are into mentalism at any level, you need to be performing with this...Be it a book test, word divinations- the selection process is so fair and so deceiving, your selected volunteers and audience's will never work out the method. And, you will fry brains. What is also, great, is you have two unique routines that you can play on your spectators. So unique, you can play them both on just one person if you desire to do so.It's almost too good, because it's impossible to be wrong unless you intentionally want to be wrong. No memorisation, the secrets hide in plain sight. The prop looks 'real' and most importantly 'unremarkable'... in performance you hand it out to both spectators - with simple instructions, you know everything needed to blow them away. While, I never used it in walkaround I like it more for Parlour or Stage, it could play in a table hop, just be careful not to overuse it around the same spectators. This time round, I will create a 10min closer, as it can play easily that big, I already close with Starwars book test, Chris Philpott's crossfire and a tossed out any line from any book, having a 4th option means audience's can now watch 5 shows before seeing any of my routines repeating - being 'mentalism' means even when they do see it again it plays differently and this helps secure repeat business.I love Dan Harlan and already use SNAPS and Aesop's Fables in my routines. Welcome back My Word.

  • Ron asks: Regarding MY WORD by Dan Harlan .... The trailer says the spectator can pick "any word." Is that any word on the page? Clues and answers or only from the answers? Also, are all the puzzle pages complete and they have a hundred different words to choose from or are there only a few words filled in, limiting the choices?

    • 1. Terence answers: I have performed this hundreds of times, it performs exactly as the promo, I have never had a spectator question the pre-written words as being anything suspicious. But, my performance patter doesn't lead to this type of scrutinised response, ie; "select any puzzle, are there words filled in? Good, pick any word, can you remember it?, Can you spell it? Great, close the book"... I then have them write the word on a blank billet and hand the book back to me. They are under all the performance pressure, do you really think they are taking the time to look to your method? If they are, you are performing too slowly. If they select a two or three letter word, and the performance has only lasted a couple of minutes, I even hand the book back to them and ask them to choose a longer word. Never had any issues, remember, if they are not chasing you then you don't need to run. My final tip is the more you treat your props as nothing suspicious the less suspicion you will attract.
    • 2. Richard answers: The choice is from the few words filled in in the puzzle section. There's also the option to pick any word in the answer keys. Of course, those are completely filled in. Each option has its presentational plusses and minuses.

  • Pedro asks: The words are in english or can be in other languages?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: They are in English
  • Lewis asks: For the puzzle book test by Dan Harlan. My eyesight isn't the best. As an example, there is no way in life for me to read the answers on the bookmark for Revalation Book Test. I had to memorize the key words, but that's only 18 words. Thanks for your help, as always.

    • 1. Terence answers: Effect one mind reading a selected word can be performed by memory, which is easily taught in the instructions and this is easily worth the purchase price alone. The 2nd effect does require a little reading and I won't give the method away here, impossible to know if you could perform it until you buy it.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: There are some improvements and you're receiving the props.
