Deck of cards by Eric Jones and Destino (12.00)

Out of stock. Email me when new stock arrives.

Partnering with Eric Jones, we’re thrilled to present a premium deck of marked playing cards that blends beauty and functionality unlike ever before.

Working alongside talented playing card designer Destino, the breathtaking custom back design and reimagined faces of the “Esoteric Deck” give it the look of a one-of-kind collectable. Each deck comes with two Jokers and is tucked into a matching custom tuck box with eye-popping foil embossing and no seal—a unique feature that allows you to open the case without damaging it.

The only thing that rivals the gorgeous aesthetic of “Esoteric Playing Cards” is its superior handling. Printed on Cartamundi’s world-class slimline stock with a B9 finish that is beloved by magicians around the world, the “Esoteric Deck” is the epitome of quality.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a deceptive marking system for both the suit and value cleverly infused into the intricate back design. To the untrained eye, it’s invisible. But, with just a quick study of the included marking explanation card, you’ll unlock a versatile tool for a variety of powerful card tricks and mentalism effects.

There are two different versions available to suit any style: the elegant Gold Edition and the chic silver Static Edition.

I got this as a freebie from Vanishing Inc, but even if I had to pay it would have been worth it. I've been playing with a lot of different cards lately and these are flat out some of the best. The handling is so great - you can really tell the difference with the Slimiline stock. Doing certain moves on here just feels better than doing them with other cards. Also great that it comes with matching jokers and mine DID come with a double-backer even though the description says it doesn't. Highly recommend!

the deck is beautiful, the cards handle very nicely. The marking system is a little tough, so this likely won't be my "go to" marked deck, but as a premium deck by itself, I am very satisfied. If you are a collector, or just like to have nice decks of cards, pick this one up for sure.

Marking system takes a little to get used to, but once you do, you'll love how clever it is. Cards feel great. I love both colors, however, the gold is truly stunning.

A stunning deck. Perfect quality and the markings are very cleverly hidden yet easy to read. I picked up a brick and will get more.

I like marked cards. I love the routine where I don't touch the cards and the punter thinks you can define the card between his/her hands when it is in the box and doesn't realise the work is earlier. I like my Bicycle Marked and DMC but find the Marksman and Houdini too much information. Some packs conceal the markings so they wont be found by the punter and Esoteric, Cohort, and Harapan will never be detected and have binary formulae that are small.
So for an old magician like me you may have to peer closely or change your spectacles. I teach old grandads some magic to fool grandkids. They like marked cards including letters not numbers like AMC or Letter Regal.
Although lesson one is to teach how oldies can be magnetised to hold a utensil in an open palm. Grandkids like to catch the fooler out. And over 10 years old who want to be magicians can see the markings in the hard to see. I like to find face down cards at the chosen number with 8 Kings and SHCD sequence to display no marking.
If you can read the back the carried pack has more options
when asked to perform if the light and your sight are good.
Last month I had my cataracts removed and new lenses. Made marked cards easier.

The cards are really beautiful, but the marking system is simply not effective and I tried to work with it for a long time...
So if you are looking for marked cards I would give it up...

Disapointed with this deck, especially for the price tag, nothing special apart from the front of the tuc box that was the only best bit for its design, which is different to the back design on the cards, the back design has a dull flat matt finish, nothing special, the stock not great either, and the marking system was weird, although i new what they meant, they werent that good to read. Very disapointed with this deck.

  • Nicholas asks: Does this come with a project? I heard he was doing a project with this deck.

    • 1. Jim answers: Sorry—there is no project.

  • Anthony asks: Hi, I know it says that you can read the markings from across the room, but my eyesight is pretty naff; I can read DC Elites from a good distance, but others such as Diamond Jim Tyler's, I can only read by holding them a foot from my face and scrunching my eyes up. So, where are these on that scale?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You will need to look fairly close at the cards to see the markings. It's not a reader style marking system.
  • Rob asks: There is a shiner depicted in one of the pictures. Is this built into the box or is it included separately?

    • 1. Robert answers: I think that is just for the photo. No shiner is included.

  • Mark asks: Can we see photos of the cards? The promo video only shows the case.

    • 1. Robert answers: There are photos on the middle of the righthand side of the page.

  • Jørund asks: Will theese be available for buing refills in the future or is it just as a one time limited edition print?

    • 1. Jim answers: These will be available for some time—they are not a limited edition print.

  • HJ Skip asks: The card that comes with the deck that explains the marking system is very poor. Is there somewhere on this site or is there an instruction sheet that you can put in my download area that explains the markings in a much clearer way? I've looked at the key card and to tell you the truth I can't see how to read the cards.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: After your purchase, look in your downloads library for: Esoteric Playing Cards Marking System graphic.
