Chinese history and culture buff Paul Guo introduces the follow-up to his Battle of Muscles playing cards, the Limited Edition Water Margin Playing Cards. This incredible deck of cards is modeled after the iconic Chinese book “Water Margin,” also known as “Outlaws of the Marsh,” which follows a group of rebellious outlaws fighting back against the corrupt Song Dynasty.
Paul selected 14 of the novel’s most recognizable characters and used their stories as inspiration for these completely custom-illustrated playing cards. By also borrowing influence from the Japanese art genre of Ukiyo-e (which was actually once used on early Chinese playing cards), and injecting a touch of his own personal humor, Paul has crafted a collectable deck that is truly one-of-a-kind.
Only 1,100 decks of Limited Edition Water Margin Playing Cards were ever created as part of an exclusive release conducted in collaboration with Will Roya & Co. These traditionally cut playing cards are printed on a classic stock with a linen finish by the USPCC and come wrapped in a themed card box with a custom numbered tuck seal. This 54-card deck also includes 2 beautifully illustrated jokers and 2 special information cards.
