The unique artistic style achieved with the Robin Hood playing cards took heavy inspiration from the Bayeux Tapestry - a French tapestry from around 1066. If you look closely at each card, you'll find that designer Jackson Robinson drew every stitch by hand to create this incredible display of artistic achievement.
The tuck case was intricately designed to resemble an ancient book, including life-like features to resemble canvas and leather design-work, a book spine, frayed paper edges and finished with realistic wear-n-tear details.
The diptych jokers from the Robin Hood deck show the legendary first encounter of Robin Hood and Little John.
These are wonderful cards. Smooth, easy feel and terrific face designs on both the numerical cards and the J,Q,K and Ace. If you want cards with a fanciful medieval look that really "pop" these would fit the bill.
The Robin Hood deck is beautiful! They are a delight just to look at. The cards are thick, yet shuffle okay. I have small hands, yet I can still manage them. What I have issues with is not the thickness, but how slippery they are. I can send them shooting across the room with ease. laughing... I will play with them longer to see if this gets a little better. If they had used a card stock that was not so slippery and slightly plastic-y in feel, they would be one of my go-to decks. This is from a different sort of customer, a cartomancer who loves good cards.
