Instantly transform a silk into an adorable puppy with Silk to Puppy!

Offered as part of Alan Wong's delightful Silk to Animal series (which also features the charming Silk to Pig), Silk to Puppy is perfect for any kid's show magician or stage performer.

Each set includes a small white magician's silk, a super soft Silk to Puppy gimmick that is approximately 2in (5cm) tall and resembles a cute Bichon Frise puppy, as well as a matching ungimmicked squeaky toy that can be handed out for examination or used as a special assistant for other magic tricks.

So I assumed that this puppy would be sponge and similar to the Goshman ball to rabbit, it's not quite.

It's a small fairly rigid plastic toy, although the basic concept of where the silk ends up is the same.

The reason I have only given this middle score is that Alan expects you, through either a set of non-verbal diagrams or a non-verbal video, to do a move before handing the squeak toy out - and a beginner or even intermediate strolling worker is going to have to do some thinking themselves on how the heck to make that clean.

Pros: the colour-matched tiny silk is included, you'd probably want to buy a larger one (some variants do have a larger silk included). The production/transformation toys are all cute. The price is fair if you understand the props you're getting.

Cons: "pocket management" and creating an off-beat right when the heat's on, twice.

Alan's video demonstrates being in an at the table environment but would be impossible without a servant. Or you might pull another clean solution out of your memory. Or change Topic...

  • Scot asks: Is there a video for this?

    • 1. SGKYDUYEN answers: No, I'm afraid
    • 2. Ralf answers: There is at least one version of the Alan Wong Silk to (X) that comes with non-verbal video link instead of non-verbal small paper with diagrams, but it won't solve the dirty moment or patter concerns.
