A delightful and direct piece of mentalism from Wayne Dobson.
After the spectator thinks of a card, the magician introduces their new "phone". This brand-new piece of flat, paper "technology" will help them figure out what card the spectator merely thought-of by asking just a few "yes or no" questions on a "phone call".
Yes, we realize there are a lot of quotations used in that last paragraph. If you watch the trailer, it will all make sense.
As with many of Wayne's effects, there is a ton of comedy built directly into this fun routine. Each "The Call" set comes with three specially-printed cards that handle all the work for you. This effect is super easy to perform, allowing you to focus on your presentation.
The included instructions feature three complete routines with that signature Dobson Touch, including a way to transform "The Call" into an amazing stage magic or parlor magic routine.
Customer reviews for The Call
This is a great prop that will amaze and delight.
The cards are card stock with a coating and should last a long time, as long as you take care of them.
There are two main routines taught in the video, with and without playing cards.
With playing cards, the reveal is ACAAN (A card at any number) which is my favourite handling.
There is also a routine where the spectator can call anyone from their contacts for the card reveal.
This also comes with two PDF files that go with the video.
Works great for closeup or parlour.
There are no difficult sleights with easy memory work.
The routine can be humorous, depending on your presentation style, which you can see in the demo.
This is a great routine which has gotten smiles, laughs, groans and has a big impact on children and adults.
Very clever and well taught.
This is now in my everyday carry.
This is a simple carry and do trick. It isn't a knock their socks off and pick the jaws up from the floor thing, it is a nice interactive fun trick for those impromptu 'Do a trick' moments.
There are two presentations, one without a deck of cards and one with a deck of cards.
For me, the teaching was good, though I did need to go back a couple of times in the Vimeo video to pick up what was shown/said, but I believe it was just my slow grasping.
The 'phone' is good sturdy plastic card and should hold up well for a good long time.
I am pleased with THE CALL and enjoy the playfulness and terrible jokes (you need terrible jokes so people will appreciate the good ones you know).
