First off, this is a great trick and the included rope is well-made and is perfect for the trick in that there is no core and it is soft and easy to work with. I was disappointed that Javier did not teach the moves himself as the trailer would suggest as he is an excellent teacher. Regrettably, I found the instructions hard to follow and so varied that I had to learn the effect from another supplier. As a beginner, I really just wanted to learn the original handling first, then build on my technique afterwards.That being said, there are multiple teachers in the video, each with their own twist on the classic effect, and now that I know the original workings, these videos are an EXCELLENT resource to unpack when examining their patter and comedic timing. *** It is important to note that these video teachings are the same videos that were used in the 'WORLD'S GREATEST MAGIC SERIES,' from the 70's and 80's which are currently available from Vanishing Inc for the same price. However, this deluxe version has the ropes included for FREE *** With these thoughts in mind, I would recommend buying this effect for the quality of the rope and the patter of the performers. There is definitely something for everyone here.
This looks to be a reissue of old L&L "World's Greatest Magic" videos, with rope supplied, along with a link to the instructional videos. This is my first time learning rope magic, but in my estimation the rope is of adequate quality, no frayed ends or anything. As for the videos themselves, the picture quality shows the age of the videos, but is ok for teaching purposes. There are several magicians who perform their take on the trick, followed by an explanation of their routine. The instructions are overall good, although there were moments where I wished they would have stopped or slowed down so I could see their hand/finger position better. There was no slow option for tbs video so I had to go back and try to pause at just the right moment. For anyone wanting to learn this classic trick, this would be a good start.
