One of the earliest adopters of virtual magic, Will Houstoun teamed up with Steve Thompson in March 2020 to create a special project called “Video Chat Magic”. Publishing more than 50 effects, essays, and tools, from some of the biggest names in magic, this project has since been converted into an incredible book and e-book.
Throughout this lecture, Will and Harry—a talented performer and magic consultant who has worked directly with Dynamo on his TV specials, and is known for creating practical “on-camera” effects—share some of their favorite virtual magic tricks from the collection.
You’ll learn a sneaky way to find a thought-of card, a diminishing deck effect that ends with a named card being the only card left, a versatile switch that allows you to perform mind-blowing predictions, a fun card trick where the entire audience helps you find a selected card in a spectator’s deck, a card-to-envelope effect that can even be mailed to a spectator’s home, as well as a variety of effects taking advantage of the popular video masking and time-shifting programs that are included in the “Video Chat Magic” book.
At the end of the lecture, Will is joined by “Video Chat Magic” co-creator Steve Thompson to speak about the project, answer questions from the audience, and share practical tips for performing better virtual magic shows.
