Thankfully for the magic community, Asi Wind is a perennial student of the art. He’s never stopped creating new routines and evolving his repertoire. All of this masterful new material is perfectly captured in this remarkable hardback book that is must-read for any card magician.
Serious students of Asi’s work will absolutely love the extended chapters on the “XY Deck” and his Card to Box load. These are two of his absolute favorite tools and, after reading Repertoire II, they will be yours too.
The “XY Deck” is Asi’s preferred way to strip cards. Besides being easier to construct, this innovative method unlocks many new applications that weren’t possible with standard stripper decks. You’ll not only learn how to make the “XY Deck”, as well as all the mechanics for the strip-out move, but also Asi’s favorite routines for putting everything into action.
In the Card to Box chapter, Asi highlights every detail and nuance needed to conduct the move completely invisibly—even while you’re surrounded. After you conquer the mechanics, he’ll then guide you through a variety of custom built effects that fully capitalize on its massive potential. This includes what will likely become a new favorite variation on the Ambitious Card for many of you.
These sections alone are worth the cost of the book Yet, you get them and so much more in this jam-packed, 150-page hardcover book. Everything is described in comprehensive detail and accompanied by illustrations created by Asi Wind.
Contents of Repertoire II by Asi Wind
Card to Box and Card to Wallet
A deceptive and powerful way to load a card into a box or wallet that can be done while fully surrounded. This angle-proof move will be your new favorite weapon.
Card to Box Stage Handling
A stage handling for the card to box move that can be done while a participant holds the box on stage.
Ambitious Ending
Asi’s take on the Ambitious Card that ends with the card impossibly appearing in the box.
Double-Digit Force
This super practical and devious method for forcing any two-digit number offers countless applications and features.
Under & Inside
A multi-phase routine where a card first ends up under the box before the second phase where it ends up inside the box.
Last Second
A chosen card, which they can clearly see in your hands, instantly travels to a card box that is nowhere near you.
Think Twice
Two named cards appear inside the box.
All In
A thought-of card to box effect.
It All Adds Up
A few cards are shown to be in the box. They are removed and revealed to add up to a randomly chosen number.
C2B Prediction
One person randomly takes four cards and puts them in the box, while another person signs a random card that is then lost in the deck. The cards are then removed from the box to reveal that each one predicts something about the selected card. As a surprising kicker, the fourth and final card of the prediction cards is shown to be the signed card itself.
The XY Deck
It takes only a few minutes to make this diabolical new approach to the stripper deck. Not only that, but it has more features and applications than any other stripper deck. This info alone is worth the cost of the book.
Reds and Blacks
This Out of The World variation using a shuffled deck is a showstopper. Asi used it to close his Off-Broadway show and you’ll be eager to add it to your own show.
Shuffle-Bored
Capitalizing on the advantages of the “XY Deck” you can perform an impossible clean and direct version of Simon Aronon’s iconic “Shuffled-Bored” plot.
Anybody and Nobody
A no-Faro reworking of Paul Gertner’s classic “Unshuffled” effect. For the jaw-dropping finale, you can make a thought-of name appear on the edge of the cards.
Other XY Deck Applications
A dedicated chapter to all the other amazing possibilities for the potent XY Deck.
Fan Force
Few modern magicians have showcased the deceptiveness and potential of the Fan Force quite like Asi Wind. It’s Asi’s favorite force because it leaves your audience convinced that they’re just thinking of a card. This small shift elevates standard “pick a card tricks” into miracle territory. Asi has been perfecting his use of the Fan Force since he was a child, and shares everything he knows in this can’t-skip section.
Noah
A four-phase stunner that continually builds in impossibility. In the first two phases, two randomly selected cards coincidentally happen to be mates (the same value and color). In the third phase, three randomly chosen cards are turned face up in the deck and then mixed. Somehow, they land right next to their mates. In the last phase—after the cards have been shuffled many times throughout the routine—every card in the deck ends up next to its mate.
Gang of Four
Asi has reworked the handling for one of Dani DaOrtiz’s best tricks “Twin Souls” so that it can be performed without requiring a setup.
Phoning It In
With your head turned away, a participant chooses a card in the fairest manner. Despite these impossible conditions, a prediction left in full view next to the participant is proven to be correct. This is diabolically clever and will fool your magician friends as much as it does your non-magician friends.
Ex Nihilo
A random card chosen from an imaginary deck of cards appears under their watch.
The Verdict
This is Asi’s twist on Cody Fisher’s beloved “Killer Prediction”. A paper ball is thrown in the audience to different audience members who all work together to create a random card. That card first appears reversed in a deck of cards and then, as a final kicker, is shown to have been predicted well ahead of time in the paper ball they had been tossing around.
Wild Name
A unique approach to Tommy Wonder’s highly visual “The Tamed Card” in which their name gets duplicated onto numerous blank cards. You can then give the cards away as a magical souvenir.
3D Telepathy
You perfectly reveal three different pieces of information written by three different people.
Center Burn
A Center Tear without any tears.
