Carisa Hendrix is without a doubt one of the best thinkers in magic. We all know we have plenty of tricks, but she provides the way of thinking to go forward for real change in material we already do.

Carisa deserves credit for pushing magic presentation forward as an art form.

An excellent lecture. This was not about how to perform tricks or gimmicks and how to use them, although there were a couple of demonstrations of those, but was focused on methods, techniques, and ideas on how to improve and develop your magic as an art. Although some of the topics could have come across "artsy", miss Hendrix presented everything in an approachable way.

The only critique I have is that the transitions between topics was often too smooth for me to follow. Some way of verbally segmenting the lecture would have been appreciated.

Carisa was a joy to listen to because she’s confident about what has worked for her AND she’s not afraid to ask those hard, painful questions. She knows what it takes to make a good show… (not attempting a perfect show for starters). Though there are only a few tricks taught in this lecture, they each prove a point that can elevate the myriad of illusions I already know.

As a professional stage performer since 20 years I wish I had seen this decades ago. Carisa gives advice on how to become a great act which the magic world really needs to hear. It is clear she put lots of time and thought into creating this masterclass, and I am really happy I bought it.

Oh boy. I’ve seen Carissa live, and seen her lecture at the Magic Castle, and I wasn’t sure there was a lot more I’d get from this.
But she is just SO good, that I bought in anyway, and wow, am I glad. So much to digest. Maybe not trick after trick, but really the kind of lecture that will elevate my performance a lot. I can’t say enough good about her!

This masterclass will support and challenge you to deepen your thinking as well as exercise your creativity on the following: character development, your energy on stage to reach more of your audience, criteria for critiquing, developing an internal metric to evaluate your work, analyzation of aesthetics and yes, she will even teach you some mind blowing magic! I could go on but you really owe it to yourself and your audiences to purchase this one. Carisa does an excellent job and she is so generous on how much concentrated, tried and true information and experience she shares.

Carisa Hendrx's Master Class is one of my favorite classes in the Masterclass series. Carisa is a fantastic instructor drawing on years of her experience in art, acting, and magic to help the student learn how to become a better magician. The courses focus on Visual Arts and Acting, with Carisa giving clear guidance and examples on how to improve your performance style. Carisa gives you ideas for different exercises to help your performance. For example, she demonstrates an exercise in making a normal object seem special, by the way we interact with that object. I would take a whole semester's worth of courses from Carisa if it was offered. Brilliant class. I hope she gets booked again.

Excellent discussion about the manner in which we lead audiences away from the truth and the comparison between the suspension of disbelief in plays as compared to what we need to accomplish in our magic presentations. The discussion of where the energy needs to be in relation to the audience was extremely valuable and how to use energy in different situations that will help create buy-in to the objects we use in our magic. Carisa added her personal understanding of theatre to help us to connect to the audience with our magic. A great Mastermind class.

I couldn't be more happy with this master class and it hasn't even finished! I am thinking much deeper about my performance. It has brought into focus things I would have never thought about before. This will definitely turn your performance into art. Even a beginner could take something away from this master class. So far there are not many tricks taught but what is taught is invaluable.

She will make you think in ways that will spur you to become a better performer. Very evocative. Lots of content and food for thought. Mostly new concepts for me that will bear lots of slow deliberate insight and contemplation.

At times the materials and concepts being presented were so new and foreign (to me)...and were so extensive that I could be excused for thinking that I had mistakenly wandered into a medical lecture on Thrombectomy brain surgery at the Grady Hospital. (grin) Seriously, (double grin)

At the outset of the lecture, Carisa warned us that she had a lot to cover in a limited amount of time. She wasn't lying. The material was delivered in a very deliberate well thought-out staccato precision..from which she never let up.

Her discussion and rationale on her use of video recording and sound recording of her shows was so eye-opening and so unexpected that it hit me like a custard pie in the face. She is a true professional.

The coup de grace was her discussion on her book productions from the shopping bag. Carisa proved the professional that she is when she revealed that the gimmick CURRENTLY beutilized in this effect was the 42nd iteration of the gimmick!!!

WOW! Between her discussion on artistic creativity, her professional use of her show's audio (and video) video recordings and her ongoing quest for perfection in the book gimmick...and in her show itself that I have nothing but respect for Carisa, her professionalism and her never-ending on-going quest for improvement

Thank God !this class is on video...and can be watched over and over.

I can hardly wait for Week Two.

Great lecture ! There are valuable insights from Carisa's artist perspective. As a result of this lecture I will do a lot to of self-reflection in re-evaluating and recreating my magic performance. I have reviewed audio of my performances, but Carisa's methods of data-mining is quite valuable. This first segment has a lot to learn from. Waiting for the next segment.

Hendrix is an accomplished performer. She has a great and marketable act and has created a legendary character. Her lectures have just not been my cup of tea. I sort of wished I had skipped this month. I wish for her continued and long term success.

I had been waiting a long time to see Carisa's Masterclass and unfortunately I have to say that I was disappointed. I expected to find less speech and more action. If your thing is the aesthetics and philosophy behind a performance, this is your lecture. Apart from several hours of dissertation on the logic and psychology of the intangible, there are few routines or new learnings to list. I hope to return another time with more content and more techniques to learn from.

She is a great lecturer. Her insights into concepts and principles of the performing arts are spot on and quite applicable. She is obviously a very analytical and creative performer having studied her shows and routines to the finest detail and then using the data to fine-tune the act. However, I was expecting and hoping for more tricks. Nevertheless, the VI Masterclasses remain one of the best deals available!
