Magic download (video) by Wolfgang Moser ($19.99)

After 15 years of performances, Wolfgang Moser finally shares the work on one of his most cherished creations.

Wolfgang Moser is a consummate professional. Instead of continually creating new magic tricks, Wolfgang commits himself to polishing the select magic tricks he performs professionally. Every effect is performed for years as it evolves into its own masterpiece.

As one of the most beloved effects in his close-up magic repertoire, “Silver Surfer” holds a special place in Wolfgang’s heart. When he needs to leave a lasting impression, this is the routine he performs. Vanishing Inc. is proud to add this dazzling effect to our exclusive magic download collection.

“Silver Surfer” is one of the most elegant Coins Across routines you’ll ever see. While many coin assemblies rely on lightning quick performances or crazy gimmicks to create visual moments, “Silver Surfer'' revels in its slow, methodical pace. Each moment has a chance to breathe as the audience embraces the impossibility that is steadily unveiling in front of them.

Every detail of “Silver Surfer” has been designed and refined to ensure the audience can easily follow the action. You can show your hands empty in-between sequences and take all the time you need to ensure everyone is locked in. There is no reason to rush. As a result, it plays much bigger than most similar coin tricks.

The detailed nearly 40-minute instructional video features multiple angles and an extensive discussion of the key nuances that make this piece so impactful. You’ll be surprised to learn that “Silver Surfer” is actually easier than you might think. While it’s probably best suited for magicians with some experience and an understanding of basic sleight of hand, any beginner magician willing to put in the practice can absolutely perform it.

“Silver Surfer” uses just four regular coins and a matching coin gimmick that nearly every magician probably already owns. And if you don’t have one, they’re regularly available and very affordable.

Download “Silver Surfer” today exclusively at Vanishing Inc.

IMPORTANT CREDITING NOTE

When this product was first posted, the history and antecedents of “Silver Surfer” were not made clear, and we’d like to correct this presently. This handling is directly inspired by John Kennedy’s seminal “Translocation” effect, and both Wolfgang Moser and Vanishing Inc. would like to acknowledge John Kennedy for his substantial contribution to the look and feel of all Coins Across sequences of this sort.

  • Michael asks: Do I need to purchase any gaff coins to perform this effect

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, you will need 4 regular coins and a matching gaff coin. It's the most common gaff coin and most magicians own one. To learn the exact gaff, please email us at wizards@vanishingincmagic.com.
  • roy asks: can this be performed standing not sitting?

    • 1. Andreas answers: This particular version with the things you see in the performance is for tables only as the main move can only be done at a table. He does have a stand up version too, but as it is not mentioned in the description I am not sure it is included.

  • Ray asks: Is there the need for moist hands?

    • 1. Jim answers: No, unless your hands are very dry. Then some hand lotion would help.
Post an answer to this question
  • Paul asks: This is beautifully simple routine. I notice Wolfgang is left-handed. Does the video show the moves from the Performer's View, and is all the teaching from a left-handed perspective? Thank you.

    • 1. Jim answers: The explanation is main shot from the audience's view, with close-ups done slightly at an angle. The teaching is done well, and I believe that most students will be able to learn it without concern for handedness.

  • Vasilis asks: Is it necessary to get rid coins off the table, at any point during the performance?

    • 1. Nicolas answers: I believe so, only once though.
    • 2. Tom answers: I disagree (just to fine-tune the answer). There is no lapping done.

  • David asks: can you perform this routine standing up? or must you be seated to accomplish this?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You'll need to be seated to perform this.
  • Ray asks: When I asked about "moist hands," I was trying to refer to a certain move without exposing anything. So I'll re-phrase the question: are there any moves that are such that a substance like octopalm would help with?

    • 1. Richard answers: If you have aging, dry hands (guilty as charged), the routine is going to be difficult. Octopalm might be a bit of overkill, but yes, you're on the right track.
Post an answer to this question
  • John asks: Regarding the question of dry hands, would something like Magician’s Choice enable you to preform the sleights or are they much more difficult for dry hands?

    • 1. Doug answers: Yes, it should help.
Post an answer to this question
  • Paul asks: I believe I am aware of the gimmick used, and what one is paying for is Mr. Moses's smooth routine that he has obviously refined and field-tested. My question is this: is there any danger of metallic "noise" during the four phases of the coins going from one side to the other? At such close quarters with the spectators being mere inches from the performer's palms, I would hope this is addressed. (Unless, of course, I'm WAY off base in my gimmick assumption!!) Thank you!

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Your gimmick assumption is correct, and the very clever handling eliminates your concern.
  • John asks: Does this routine require a close-up mat?

    • 1. Jim answers: A mat is recommended.

This is a wonderful tabled coins across and the explanation video is well done, but overly long. Once you have watched it all the way through you just need to watch the "how to" chapter to actually learn the effect. BUT THERE IS NO CHAPTER MENU AND THAT IS THE LAST CHAPTER!! When I fast forward to get to the last chapter
the video freezes. Vanishing needs to add a chapter menu..

Mr. Moser's eloquent version of John Kennedy's Translocation. He teaches a nice substitution for the purse palm (typically used in Translocation effects...ie. Kennedy and Dill) which allows one to perform on slightly harder surfaces (such as on a surface with a table cloth). Having said that, a close up pad is still the ideal surface for this routine. The teaching is easy, slow, and methodical with a nice sprinkling of performance subtleties. As much as I love it, my only gripe is the cost (when compared to other 1 trick downloads). I think this should be in the $10-12 range...still highly recommended.

Wanted a great chink a chink routine. Can’t do Dean Dill’s purse palm on a close up pad, but loved his basic routine. This solves all those problems. Beautiful.

Great piece of magic and explained so well! The subtleties explained in the presentation are worth the price. A great piece of coin magic that plays big.

The routine is so smooth, the explanation and reasons why are clear and have excellent motivation.

This is a worker.

A great routine that combines psychology, misdirection, and simple slight of hand that anyone can master in one evening for a routine that will leave your audience believing they have seen real magic.

AWESOME ROUTINE,A little bit too long, but he covered it thoroughly . The moves are awesome. Not hard at all,if you do coin magic. you have these moves already. Practice practice, hope to have this routine down by ythe weekend.

I think this is the most beautiful coins across I’ve ever seen. Wolfgang is a great teacher and goes into all the nuances to make this look great. This is definitely going to be something that I’ll be doing. Highly recommended.

WOW. WOW. WOW. I love this coin assembly routine. It is functionally so much better than the simple matrix assemblies, in part because it only uses “the move” everyone knows ONCE in the entire routine. It is invisible due to the subtleties that Wolfgang offers. So excited to practice and perfect this routine.

This is a lot of fun. I'm pretty new to coin magic and found this to be a good introduction to some basic slights and gimmicks that I can use on other routines. I'm still working on it, but I wouldn't think it would take me more than a few days of practice to get to performance level of this. There is good insight beyond just the mechanics as well.

I was really impressed with the presentation (especially how slow and deliberate he is when performing it). He doesn't try to confuse the spectator by doing moves in a flurry (which in my opinion is counterproductive in a spectators mind. They know 'the hand is quicker than the eye' so they simply 'write off the magic' to that). The slowness is killer. I am not a "coin guy" but picked this up to learn and fine tune because I felt this version is well worth it. I figure if I could choose one coin effect to truly dial in, this would be it. The training is done well and he even does some critical moves in slow motion with an up close and personal camera view. Very well put together method, presentation and training!

Superlative. Very detailed and clear explanation. I hesitated to select this download because there are so many coins across routines out there, but I'm so glad I finally decided to purchase this particular coins across version. Thanks to all.

Slow and graceful looks like real magic. He's thought long and hard about the presentation along with minimum moves. Love it

An excellent version of Matrix. Thoroughly explained and I can see why this is the creator's favorite to perform. The slow style and manner in which this version is performed give the effect of real "magic". I really like this coin effect!

I am no coin magician and I doubt I'll be able to perform this for a couple of reasons, but that is because of my lack of skill and not the effect. That doesn't keep me from trying. I love the entire routine Mr. Moses brings to the table (pun not intended). Beautiful coins across, great sleight of hand, great teaching and performing, and even some comedy. If you're a coin worker, this one is for you.

This is one of the best coins across routines that I've ever had the privilege of learning. The 'moves' are beautifully explained, the creator takes time to explain the reasoning behind why each step of each phase was chosen and most importantly, it really is an extremely magical looking routine, from open to close and is angle proof, allowing it to be performed surrounded. Despite the use of a gimmick, it opens and closes very cleanly. Absolutely killer stuff.

Wow!!!!! I've never heard of this guy Wolfgang Moser, but this effect is absolutely killer! His explanations were incredible and easy to understand, will take some practice but no knuckle busting here. the price was reasonable for such a head scratcher. Get this without hesitation and add it to your repertoire. Your spectators will be truly astounded!

Absolutely perfect. This is what magic is all about! He goes into great detail about what moves he is using, and the tutorial really breaks it down into steps. You get awesome angles for teaching purposes, and he gets into talking about what truly makes a vanish, magical. This is just fantastic and I urge anyone to get this, even if you aren't a coin magician.

I typically don't write reviews, but this routine deserves exceptional praise. It is without question one of the most well thought out routines I've come across. The methods aren't that difficult at all, but the timing of the actions will take practice. You won't go wrong with this. Truly magical.
