Magic download (video) by Joshua Jay (12.00)

Amidst all the Assembly routines you have read, how many do you actually do? Most involve gaffed cards, awkward moves, and too many steps to remember. Further, what does one SAY during an Ace Assembly?

All these problems are solved with Joshua Jay's elegant "Royal Assembly," in which you, the magician, cause Aces to disappear from your opponent's hands and appear in your own. You offer to repeat the effect and attain the winning hand...then you instantly cause a Royal Flush to appear.

Joshua Jay's "Royal Assembly" is just what you need:

  • a gambling routine where EVERYONE (not just card players) will understand and enjoy it
  • it can be performed surrounded
  • it can be performed from a borrowed, shuffled deck
  • it is easy to do and to remember

Magicians all over the world tout "Royal Assembly" as a favorite "go-to" item, and here is why. The trick is extremely impressive to a lay audience, and you can learn and perform it within minutes of watching the downloadable tutorial.

As with all of Joshua Jay's material, both the effect and the way it is taught place emphasis on attention to detail and clarity. This high-quality download takes you through how to get into the routine from a shuffled deck of cards, and includes all the presentational tips and handling advice you need to make this part of your repertoire...right now.

Running time: 10 minutes, 24 seconds.

Joshua never disappoints! This is a straightforward, ace assembly (with a kick) that can be done any time, any place, with any deck of cards. As Joshua mentioned, the premise of the sequence is not new, but his handling makes this a quick routine that makes sense. You can't go wrong with this one.

Very simple ace assembly with a twist. Very basic and minimal sleight of hand for high impact. I like that you change gears from the first ace assembly to the production of a royal flush. This makes sense within the context of the trick and adds an unexpected kicker.

This is a great gambling demonstration. Josh teaches this in detail and it's very easy to follow. In the routine there is a really nice kicker ending that your spectator's won't see coming. I enjoyed watching the download you should definitely buy this.

Great card magic, from the first reveall being the four aces, followed by a kicker ending, as an unexpected royal flush.

This is an excellent routine! The download is about 10 minutes long and he teaches the setup and all the moves necessary for the trick. The moves are taught well and he gives you sources for the only move I wasn't familiar with so if you want more information about it you can seek it out. (I really like it when folks do this!) The moves take some practice but are well within reach of a beginner.

As far as performance goes, the routine hits hard! They think they know exactly what is going on the whole time but you keep surprising them. It's also a pretty lengthy routine if you want it to be, especially to be as cheap as it is. Highly recommended.

I love this routine! I have been using it for years and it it gets great reactions. The fact that it is impromptu makes it an extremely valuable routine to know.

Josh presents a very direct poker demonstration with a nice plot twist in the end. However, 4 cards are given for each poker hand (which might look weird for poker players), and the end shows a Royal Flush, which is a 5-cards hand. So there is a certain discrepancy that would probably pass by most audience.
Adapting it to 5 cards for each hand from the beginning might be possible but it is not obvious.
