Most people recommend that Royal Road to Card Magic be your first magic book. We don't. For the most part, the tricks are good, but the writing is a little outdated, making it a little different to learn from if you're not familiar with card magic.
So, while this book should definitely be on your book shelf, first of all pick up Card College and Magic, The Complete Course. Then you'll be ready to read this classic tome and learn some of the best, simple card tricks in print.
This is the classic introduction to card magic that everyone that handles cards should read. I wish I had found it sooner and have bought several copies to give away. The language is archaic and some of the patter out dated but the techniques and sleights in this book will make you a better card handler. Worth reading several times and worth way more than the price. I don’t think it’s a replacement for card College but it’s an excellent place to start or to fill in holes in your technique.

It's a classic for a reason, a great way to begin your magical journey! Just the work un the overhand shuffle is amazing, so many ideas and tricks. You could possible build a career only with the tricks in this book. It is also a pretty cheap book, definitely a must have for all card magicians. What are you waiting for! Get it and enjoy.
