A revolutionary new way to produce a full glass of liquid in a totally impossible way. This innovative method allows your audience to both see and hear the moment an object appears out of thin air.

With a variety of all-time best sellers under his belt like “Glance”, “Flite” and Video Chat Magic, Steve Thompson is one of the most innovative and respected creators in the industry. But “Appearing Glass” may be the closest he’s ever come to “real” magic.

A Brand-New Method

You’ve seen the basic idea before, but never in a way as fair and incredible as “Appearing Glass”. This is the key to finally taking that extra step from “amazing” into the realm of “truly impossible.”

Other marketed effects follow a similar pattern: you remove a bag from your pocket, unfold it and produce a glass of liquid. Many of them even allow you to show the bag is completely empty first. However, before you can make the production happen, a fishy move needs to occur for the glass to somehow get pre-loaded in the bag.

This typically requires you to either ruin the flow of the routine by creating an offbeat at a critical juncture or find a seemingly viable excuse to justify your actions—which, unfortunately, can sometimes transform into a giant arrow pointing directly at the method when the audience recaps the effect.

“Appearing Glass” by Steve Thompson solves this problem.

You can show the bag empty and even have a participant place their hand inside to verify nothing is there. Then, instantly, without ever putting your hand inside the bag, you make a glass appear with a visible and audible thud. They can immediately reach in and take it out themselves.

Don’t want to produce a glass? You can also use the bag to produce phones, cubes, decks of cards, or any other similar object.

This modern take on a popular effect is visual, fast, safe, and simple. The premium props are a joy to use and make “Appearing Glass” practical enough for every performing situation from stage to close-up.

The Perfect Gimmick

The centerpiece of “Appearing Glass” is the custom-made, wildly-clever gimmicked bag that is about as close to perfect as possible. You won’t be able to stop yourself from smiling when you see how clever it is.

The best part is that it’s been designed to be easily operated with one hand. This greatly simplifies the handling while simultaneously amplifying the fairness. Let them examine it and then instantly make the glass appear like real magic.

Constructed from durable Tyvek™, this bag is built to last countless performances. It’s resistant to tears and water, making it especially useful when making a tall glass of liquid seemingly drop out of thin air.

The Perfect Glass

Careful consideration was also given to the custom-made, high-gloss glass. It looks just like a real glass, but is constructed of durable acrylic that is not only light and easy to steal, but won’t break if you drop it. The custom-designed lid keeps the liquids from spilling until you’re ready. It can then be quickly, quietly and discreetly removed with one hand right before you load the glass into the gimmick.

The Perfect Steal

Ok, so this part is technically not new. But, the way Steve pairs a slight modification on a classic holdout with a totally justified and simple steal is unrivaled. Every movement is motivated perfectly to make it completely invisible. With a little practice, you’ll be fooling yourself in the mirror. All you need is a belt and some type of coat, hoodie, cardigan or similar.

Oh, and once you’re loaded, the glass is ready to appear instantly whenever you’d like. And you don’t have to rush anything. In the loaded position, you have 220-degree working angles that enable you to confidently show the bag empty one more time immediately before the appearance. This is a true game-changer.

From the Stage to the Table

While “Appearing Glass” is clearly a showstopper for any stage magic or parlor magic show, it was also designed with close-up magic workers in mind. Very generous angles and a quick reset time make it great for walkaround magic and street magic.

Don’t want to use it as an opener? The custom-made props allow you to safely perform this amazing effect at any point in your set.

“Appearing Glass” by Steve Thompson is perfect for any magician that wants a surefire way to truly astonish every audience. You’ll perform it for a lifetime, and the premium props will last just as long.

Very easy trick with a nice clear explanation in the video... You nearly doubt yourself that you will pull it off properly but the way it's made it works. First time doing this and everyone was baffled....but as with most tricks (don't do it more than once unless you use a different routine)
Can make other items like phones , watches ECT appear too.

This routine is actually very fun. I haven't yet worked it into my act but I've long love the idea of producing a drink from an empty bag.

It's often difficult to find a good bag that isn't going to get ruined and the nice material of this one seems like it will last for years.

Great job Steve!

I've just gotten The Appearing Glass and I must say, I'm genuinely impressed with the craftsmanship of the gimmick. Every aspect of the handling and the nuances within make perfect sense, and I'm confident that this routine will have a memorable effect on my audiences. With proper maintenance, this gimmick is built to endure indefinitely.

I use this as an opener for my kid shows and family shows and it stuns! They always say you should immediately establish yourself with a great visual opener and this fits the bill perfectly! I ordered a second one as a back up because I plan on using this every show. Well made and super clever!

Hello it's me Paul again. I bought this for my Comedy/Magic because I need a drink production.I was really happy with this. Not only is it made to last but you will be doing it in know time. I am currently using it to make all kinds of things appear. The cube is cool. honestly you can make almost any bottle-like objects appear. I like taking a trick and not using it for its intended purpose. The cube production is really neat too. The instructions are well taught and they are easily understood and it is to notch production value. This really gets great reactions. I have done this in my live show for a long time. I think it said that it will last forever. So if you need a solid drink production this is the one.

This is "miracle class" magic. I freaked everyone out at a holiday work party with this thing and am so glad I purchased it. Going to incorporate it into my parlor show immediately. One thing that I'm still trying to figure out...it makes you walk around kind of funny, a bit difficult to look casual if you have ways to go before getting to this trick in your set (this is just something I'm going to have to figure out)....and regarding the narrow glass (which was filled with beer)- someone did yell out as I was drinking the beer, "looks like a urine sample!" but...other than these points- it's insanely effective and makes no f-ing sense to the spectators. Highly recommended.

Great trick! You can do it close-up and surrounded. It is angle proof. You can show the bag empty from the inside exactly before you make a glass appear. The bag isn’t the best quality but I think Vanishing inc. would happily supply refills. We all know how this is done. But the small modifications make it look like real magic for both laymen & magicians. You will learn how to vanish a cube and how to store the bag. You can make any liquid appear as long as you don’t mind splashes of that liquid on the prop or yourself. The bag can’t be inspected, but I have never seen anyone asking to have a look at it because it looks too ordinary. You will be taught how to begin the presentation in a way that removes any attention from the bag and hint to it being ordinary.
There could have been more instructions regarding the choreography in the demo.

Nice product, smart engineering. I have added an entirely elasticated belt which makes the process much easier. For Brits M&S do one for £18.

The truth is that I was quite reluctant about this routine. After seeing the materials, the doubts began to dissipate and after watching the video, they completely vanished. It is true that you have to take into account a few things that are quite obvious: that you need a jacket, possibly a belt and that you have to control the angles in a certain way, but it is nothing that is strange given the nature of the effect itself. It is a great routine, the gimmick is wonderful and works perfectly and in summary I would say without fear that it is one of the best products to make this type of appearances. Brilliant!

Very good explanation , is a good trick and you can take a lot of millage from it so it becomes a whole act and not just one trick

I used Barrie Richardson's appearing glass for years. But this looks as stunning and is simpler to perform. It take a bit of time to break in the bag. But once you go that this is rather easy to do. It is a audience stunner. This can be done both in a platform setting or try it close up it will blow people's mind. This people will remember for a long time

I went to this bonus section right away and thought I knew how it’s gonna work. To my surprise, the extra “tips” make this more doable and convenient! They really know their market of cube magicians. Although it’s a simple thing, I appreciate the misdirection that flows with the cube production. I am even considering making it look like the paper bags from our local bookstore which sells rubik’s cubes too. Overall, we’re really buying the prop. I’m glad I bought this during black Friday and I’m hoping to make the most out of it.

First of all: Please excuse my English (I´m Austrian) - The appearing glass is definitely excellent!!! I really love the way to perform it. Maybe it isn´t the right one for a complete newcommer in magic, but with some practice everything is possible to learn!!! The tutorial video is really genious and very easy to understand - even for me... :O)) The performance technic which is showed in the tutorial is almost perfect!!! One thing is a little bit tricky: It´s pretty much angle sensitive but also this problem is very easiely solveable by checking it out in front of a mirror or by filming with a camera. This trick seems to be impossible and due to that it becomes definitely priceless!!! So I would defintely recommend the appearing glass for buying!!! I really have very much fun with it, I perform it in almost every show and the reactions are unbelieveable - So go for it and try it by your own...

I was stunned by the simplicity and elegance of the construction of the routine and how easy it "flows".
Before I bought it I scrutinized the video several times to detect the steal of the glass. I saw nothing - and hoped it was worth the risk of buying the trick.
Folks, there is no risk! Everyone can do this if you carefully pay attention to the details. How devilishly simple.
I sat applauding at the end of the explanation, and that includes the bag.

This is such a nice touch to a parlor or stage show. I think its possible to do this with walk around, but you need to know how you would approach a table or spectator. I think the bag is really well made and will actually last a super long time just because of the material alone. I think this is a great effect that can build your confidence with misdirection, as it can really leave people flabergasted at what you pull, or should I say drop into a bag.

While it may be a tad pricey, it is extremely practical as it can be incorporated in countless ways. More importantly, it seems quite durable, which means once you buy it, you will likely not need to buy it again.

I saw this trick in a review by Magic Orthodoxy. I tried to buy it and it was sold out. It finally became available again so I bought it. It is clever! With this trick, one can pull a folded bag out of your pocket, show it empty and then pick someone in the audience to imagine they are pouring their drink into a glass. You then have them toss that (imaginary) glass to you on stage. You cry out "I've got it" and hold your bag out to catch it. The audience then sees (and hears) the glass drop into the bag a you reach in (or the spectator) and pull out a glass of liquid!

I'm using this for an opening trick and will quickly prove that magic is real. The bag can be used over and over and is durable. The gimmick is clever and difficult to see, even close up. I can see why it sold out! Get one today and don't miss it!

Having two AGs, I have the luxury of comparison. The first bag had an issue. In asking how I could repair it, Vanishing inc. immediately shipped me a new one. Bravo. I requested the "fix it" info at 9pm by 7am (PT) The replacement was shipped!
Amazing!
The new bag had one bit of glue holding the fold at the top of the bag. Maybe a 48th inch. I pulled it open just fine. Clearly individually made. as there was the slightest difference in feel. yet I feel the replacement bag will last some time.
It's going into my Stand-up open mic set that will get 12-20 performances a month. I expect to be putting mileage on this. At first I thought, Can I pull this off? The more I rehearse it, the more confident I feel.
My best $$ investment this year.

David

I first thought, that the Trailer is missing "something" (preparation etc.), BUT it is exactly how you see it.
You get what you see and it is awesome.
The glass alone is a win for me plus the special extra to "store" it (you not have to use it) - and the rest is pretty well made.

I am happy to let my eyes guide me into buying this. Highly recommended if you looking for a effect like this. AND you can also priduce other objects instead of the glass with liquid in it - like a rubic cube.

Reviewer

Brandon

It is definitely an effect that lives up to its description with no disappointing surprises. Very simple to use and well-built. While it should last a very long time I'm thinking of getting a second as a backup just on the off chance something were to happen to it and they become not available any longer, as I can see this being a permanent addition to my show. It is versatile in how you can present it and where you can perform it. The instructions are very clear and concise with just enough tips to add value and make sure your performances are smooth.

This is an excellent effect - a very good rendering of a classic effect. This is very cleverly constructed and the Tyvek bag's extremely durable. Comes with very good, clear instructions. I'm finding this to be a real joy to perform with lots of room for creativity. I coated the wooden lid with sealer (this is not essential) in order that the wood doesn't warp - my own solution and preventive. I give this ten out of ten.

Awesome trick! I first learned about this trick from David and his review on the YouTube channel MagicOrthodoxy.

This looks like a digital trick but it isn't. You can make a real glass full of liquid to appear.

You pull out a folded bag out of your jacket, open it up and show the audience it is completely empty. Then have someone prepare an imaginary glass and pour liquid in the glass. They toss it into the bag and the audience sees (and hears) you catch it in the bag and have them pull out a full glass of liquid. Simply amazing! I'm planning on using this for an opening act. I think it will slay the audience and put them on a roller coaster journey of wonder and amazement. This is easy to do and from the video appears well made. I will have fun with this one!

First of all the bag is high quality and I expect it to last a long time. Actually the more you use it the more it appears as an ordinary paper bag. Regarding the trick it’s self, it’s perfect magic for the magician and the audience. Just the right amount of slights for the magician followed by the spectator’s heads exploding! A must have trick.

Everything about this is good. The supplied props are good, the instruction video is good, even the packaging is good. The trick is not too difficult to do, and very powerful. A simply great trick!

Amazing method. You can show the inside really empty 2 seconds before the glass appears. Also you can use a spectators drink. The load idea seems new even though card to wallets use it.Tyvek van lasts years but I recommend putting a patch of white electric tape inside on the small gimmick since they rust with moisture.Use the regular way then steal their drink for a repeat.

100 out of 10 stars. This is as good as it gets. 50 years in this business and I finally found a superb opener for any time anywhere. Nothing beats the sound and thump of the glass appearing after hands have touched the inside of the bag. Very simple, foolproof, brilliant construction. A real worker. A lot of thought was put into this prop. So very clever. Great angles. Well thought choreography. It hadn't occurred to me this could work in walk around, but the idea of doing it close up seems very viable.

Not only is this a magnificent idea, it was so well designed it will last forever. Everything was thought of and taught in very easy to understand terms. The angles are great, and multiple handlings are taught. There are tricks which look better after practicing a few dozen times, and this is another one. This trick will blow people's minds with his presentation, but he teaches a couple more ideas which would make you look like you can cgi in real time. Don't hesitate because this will sell out quickly! You can perform this exactly how it is shown in the trailer with just a little practice in the mirror. You will definitely blow minds on Instagram if you practice and present it correctly. Remember on video to get the sound of the glass dropping. This is a killer.

There are many versions of an appearing glass or any object for that matter. But what makes this stand out, is #1 the sound, the weight suddenly seen pushing down inside the bag, and knowledge of the spectator, that something has appeared. #2 The glass which is removed, is filled with whatever drink you want, and there is no cover to dispose of. #3 The bag can be touched inside and looked into by the spectator before and after the appearance. (You will need to control the examination, but it really impresses and seems fair).
I would say negatively, that my bag does not click like it is suppose to, and does sometimes get caught when opening, but this trick is too good to lose a star!
You can probably be surrounded about 130 degrees in front of you, if you carefully follow the video's finger tips.
There is this this real cool packaging, which is just a VI bonus like usual.

The Appearing Glass....
I've gotten to use this and it's a great effect.
Everything is clean from start to finish. You have really good angles throughout the entire effect.
I love that the bag is tyvek and is washable.
This will not let you down. Even the glass is perfect!!

This is the perfect "handshake" to start your show. As a comedy magician, I can walk out with hands empty, take the bag out and produce a glass of water. No music needed, it's a non verbal attention grabber. Awesomeness. I would add a fake lemon wedge and some fake ice cubes. Also I don't always wear a jacket and yes, this still can be performed. Thank you!

Reviewer

Larry

This is not only very clever, it's extremely usable.
The props are very well manufactured and should last a very long time. The explanation video was just ok though. There is a part where he talks about a 'crease', and that's all he says.

I would have like more of a close up explanation. I almost feel that the video was rushed a touch for no good reason.

But, it works. It's practical. And it's a fooler.

Has everything you need! Even something you think you need, you actually don’t. This is deceptively simple, wonderfully visual, especially with the addition of sound and moving liquid you can drink. The added safety feature is something you don’t realize you actually want until you have it. I screwed a small eyelet into the side of it and connected it to an elastic or ribbon to eliminate the need to ditch. A simple loosening with a pinky or wrist bump will cause it to dislodge and swing away quietly. This is a neat trick!! Great tips!

The demo video for this product is beyond amazing. I’d pay double to see the inner workings of the demonstrator’s method for the steal. It’s just too good to be true. After spending a few hours practicing and studying the demo video, I just don’t see how he loads the glass in the first 5 seconds of the performance. Please add a bonus video on his handling because it’s baffling.

Reviewer

Thomas

It is quite a clever trick and easy to execute. The packaging itself is even tricky because I initially thought it was missing the bag (which is integral to the trick), but it was there. If you like tricks to be pretty foolproof to pull off, as I do, I’d recommend this.

Excellent! Fully worthy of 5 stars. I have seen LOTS of products for producing liquids from body loads. This is as good or better than any I've seen. I've given up on the others. This I will use.

Just wonderful. Ingenious. Rivals "THIS" (the bottle production using three silks) in terms of ease of working. A body load effect that I WILL use. Guaranteed. Great opener. Can't wait to get it and start working with it!

This effect far exceeded my expectations. Love producing liquids at some point in my close-up work. This is an incredible clean production. The props have been well thought out and of great quality. Definitely different from the methods most performers are used to. Great job!

Reviewer

Kajetan

Good idea, but I feel like we should've been given one more thing, like it's not a full product. You get the glass (which is plastic for durability), the bag (same thing) and... Nothing else. There still some time you have to spend onstage with the glass but before it appears. How? There are some ideas inside the video but not many. A third thing in the package would be great. Overall pretty angle sensitive but that's obvious.

Reviewer

Rick

Excellent Props, ingenious idea. Definitely recommended. It would have been a 5 Star review except for the fact that the gimmic on the bag was just over a 1/4 inch out of alignment which prevents you from folding it for proper alignment. The effect still works but takes a little more effort to perform.

Reviewer

Ron

I bought this because I wanted something different. The ad looked great. After watching the instructions I am a little dissappointed, more in myself then the effect. It is better if you wear a jacket. I should have realized that. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I thought there could have been a discussion about how to perform this without a jacket. His walk around suggestion could work in a stage setting if you are performing an after dinner show and people are seated at tables.

Many people don't wear jackets to perform. A future short video with some ideas for them might be a great thing to do down the road.

I found the intructions to be short and to the point. That's a good thing.

This prop is excellent , durable and well made. I’ve used it twice already, once for a virtual show and once live using an invisible deck both times. It is perfect for an invisible deck routine. When I got this, I was hoping to use this for a jumbo size deck or a book but not the right size. You could use it for a jumbo size, I suppose, and even show the inside of it ‘empty’ if you’re creative and add ‘something’ in there. Overall, great prop and will use it more.

Is it what i thought it would be, no it is not. I thought the process would have been different. The quality of the bag is good, and i may be able to use this more for the bonus download than the glass download. Will see how i work it into the routine.

Reviewer

Matt

Pretty good, I think i would have loved to see a little more thought put into this so it wasn’t taught with only one way to produce it.. to me this cup is a utility device, and the bag is just one idea for presentation, personally i pull it out of a devils hank, and that feels really magical. after i watched the tutorial it sat on my shelf for quite a while since its taught with a “clothing requirement” that i didn’t meet and wouldn’t work for me. Overall i like it, i have modified mine so i can present it with the devils hank like i said instead of the bag, i believe i read somewhere that it “won’t leak” thats somewhat true, but only when its upright, it will leak if its tilted, so i had to modify that for my needs, overall a good utility device, but the presentation taught was not for me

  • Stanley asks: What are the angles like? Can someone be behind you?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Before you're loaded, you can show all sides of the bag. After you're loaded, you still have great angles. You wouldn't want anyone to be directly behind you though. But, you don't have to load the glass until you're ready. So, the minor adjustments needed to get the right angle can be quickly done before you start.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Absolutely! You can remove an object, show the bag empty and then produce the glass.
  • Patrick asks: Is this appropriate for beginners, or does it require some higher-level sleight skill?

    • 1. Jim answers: With a fair amount of practice and rehearsal, a beginner should be able to learn and perform this. That said, realize that you will have to dedicate real time and effort into it.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It is possible if you are able to steal the glass.
  • Deryck asks: Can you start with the paper bag flat and folded, pulling it out of your pocket that way?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, absolutely.
  • Danny asks: Does the trailer show him actually loading the glass into the bag or is already loaded?

    • 1. Jim answers: In my opinion, the trailer shows what the audiences sees. This is not video editing—this is good, if you practice it.

  • Rod asks: Will there be an option to buy extra bags if the bag gets overused as I do street shows and things end up jammed in cases on the exit of shows often ?

    • 1. Jim answers: The bag should last a looong time. That said, customer service will help you out with a discounted replacement, if needed.

  • Rene asks: Are you getting the holdout for the glass or do we need to provide our own holdout?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You will almost certainly already own the item recommended for the hold out used in this trick!
  • Lorenzo asks: Can this be performed seated? I'm handicapped and cannot perform standing. 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It is possible if you are able to steal the glass. This reply really does not answer the question. Let me try again. Can one steal and load the glass from the holdout while seated? Is this at all contemplated and discussed by Steve Thompson?

    • 1. Avrohom answers: If you are seated, you can just need to initially hide the glass in your lap or between your knees, and then you will have to sneak it behind the bag at some point. I just tried it, and it is actually easier to perform it while seated than standing. Good luck, and good health to you.

  • Danny asks: Does the trailer show him loading the bag or has that part been edited out? Is there built in misdirection to accomodate the load?

    • 1. Jim answers: The trailer shows an actual performance. What you see on the trailer, is what the audience sees.

  • Rick asks: I've got a question about this product. Since I could not get it anywhere I bought it from a Chinese company while unavailable for 30.00. When I got it the sack was weird and folded wrong and the trick came in a plastic bag. I moved the magnets a bit to try and get it to work and the glass is okay, but I'm not sure it's the right size. Is their version a knock off that just isn't made as well. I love this trick, but I can't get this one to work and it spills horrible everytime, filling the sack with liquid. I'm just wondering if it's me doing something wrong or if the product is just not up to par.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You bought a knock off, sadly. If you used a credit card, you could try initiating a charge back. As a general rule, if you see something on a magic site that is considerably cheaper, it's going to be a knock off.

  • Stephen asks: It seems the only way to secure the glass before the steal is to have your shirt tucked in. Are there 'holders' that give you the freedom to have your shirt untucked?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You can use something like the Splash Bottle gimmick but you can also use your front pants pocket if you wear jeans.
