A revolutionary new way to produce a full glass of liquid in a totally impossible way. This innovative method allows your audience to both see and hear the moment an object appears out of thin air.

With a variety of all-time best sellers under his belt like “Glance”, “Flite” and Video Chat Magic, Steve Thompson is one of the most innovative and respected creators in the industry. But “Appearing Glass” may be the closest he’s ever come to “real” magic.

A Brand-New Method

You’ve seen the basic idea before, but never in a way as fair and incredible as “Appearing Glass”. This is the key to finally taking that extra step from “amazing” into the realm of “truly impossible.”

Other marketed effects follow a similar pattern: you remove a bag from your pocket, unfold it and produce a glass of liquid. Many of them even allow you to show the bag is completely empty first. However, before you can make the production happen, a fishy move needs to occur for the glass to somehow get pre-loaded in the bag.

This typically requires you to either ruin the flow of the routine by creating an offbeat at a critical juncture or find a seemingly viable excuse to justify your actions—which, unfortunately, can sometimes transform into a giant arrow pointing directly at the method when the audience recaps the effect.

“Appearing Glass” by Steve Thompson solves this problem.

You can show the bag empty and even have a participant place their hand inside to verify nothing is there. Then, instantly, without ever putting your hand inside the bag, you make a glass appear with a visible and audible thud. They can immediately reach in and take it out themselves.

Don’t want to produce a glass? You can also use the bag to produce phones, cubes, decks of cards, or any other similar object.

This modern take on a popular effect is visual, fast, safe, and simple. The premium props are a joy to use and make “Appearing Glass” practical enough for every performing situation from stage to close-up.

The Perfect Gimmick

The centerpiece of “Appearing Glass” is the custom-made, wildly-clever gimmicked bag that is about as close to perfect as possible. You won’t be able to stop yourself from smiling when you see how clever it is.

The best part is that it’s been designed to be easily operated with one hand. This greatly simplifies the handling while simultaneously amplifying the fairness. Let them examine it and then instantly make the glass appear like real magic.

Constructed from durable Tyvek™, this bag is built to last countless performances. It’s resistant to tears and water, making it especially useful when making a tall glass of liquid seemingly drop out of thin air.

The Perfect Glass

Careful consideration was also given to the custom-made, high-gloss glass. It looks just like a real glass, but is constructed of durable acrylic that is not only light and easy to steal, but won’t break if you drop it. The custom-designed lid keeps the liquids from spilling until you’re ready. It can then be quickly, quietly and discreetly removed with one hand right before you load the glass into the gimmick.

The Perfect Steal

Ok, so this part is technically not new. But, the way Steve pairs a slight modification on a classic holdout with a totally justified and simple steal is unrivaled. Every movement is motivated perfectly to make it completely invisible. With a little practice, you’ll be fooling yourself in the mirror. All you need is a belt and some type of coat, hoodie, cardigan or similar.

Oh, and once you’re loaded, the glass is ready to appear instantly whenever you’d like. And you don’t have to rush anything. In the loaded position, you have 220-degree working angles that enable you to confidently show the bag empty one more time immediately before the appearance. This is a true game-changer.

From the Stage to the Table

While “Appearing Glass” is clearly a showstopper for any stage magic or parlor magic show, it was also designed with close-up magic workers in mind. Very generous angles and a quick reset time make it great for walkaround magic and street magic.

Don’t want to use it as an opener? The custom-made props allow you to safely perform this amazing effect at any point in your set.

“Appearing Glass” by Steve Thompson is perfect for any magician that wants a surefire way to truly astonish every audience. You’ll perform it for a lifetime, and the premium props will last just as long.

This effect far exceeded my expectations. Love producing liquids at some point in my close-up work. This is an incredible clean production. The props have been well thought out and of great quality. Definitely different from the methods most performers are used to. Great job!

Just wonderful. Ingenious. Rivals "THIS" (the bottle production using three silks) in terms of ease of working. A body load effect that I WILL use. Guaranteed. Great opener. Can't wait to get it and start working with it!

Excellent! Fully worthy of 5 stars. I have seen LOTS of products for producing liquids from body loads. This is as good or better than any I've seen. I've given up on the others. This I will use.

It is quite a clever trick and easy to execute. The packaging itself is even tricky because I initially thought it was missing the bag (which is integral to the trick), but it was there. If you like tricks to be pretty foolproof to pull off, as I do, I’d recommend this.

The demo video for this product is beyond amazing. I’d pay double to see the inner workings of the demonstrator’s method for the steal. It’s just too good to be true. After spending a few hours practicing and studying the demo video, I just don’t see how he loads the glass in the first 5 seconds of the performance. Please add a bonus video on his handling because it’s baffling.

Has everything you need! Even something you think you need, you actually don’t. This is deceptively simple, wonderfully visual, especially with the addition of sound and moving liquid you can drink. The added safety feature is something you don’t realize you actually want until you have it. I screwed a small eyelet into the side of it and connected it to an elastic or ribbon to eliminate the need to ditch. A simple loosening with a pinky or wrist bump will cause it to dislodge and swing away quietly. This is a neat trick!! Great tips!

This is not only very clever, it's extremely usable.
The props are very well manufactured and should last a very long time. The explanation video was just ok though. There is a part where he talks about a 'crease', and that's all he says.

I would have like more of a close up explanation. I almost feel that the video was rushed a touch for no good reason.

But, it works. It's practical. And it's a fooler.

This is the perfect "handshake" to start your show. As a comedy magician, I can walk out with hands empty, take the bag out and produce a glass of water. No music needed, it's a non verbal attention grabber. Awesomeness. I would add a fake lemon wedge and some fake ice cubes. Also I don't always wear a jacket and yes, this still can be performed. Thank you!

The Appearing Glass....
I've gotten to use this and it's a great effect.
Everything is clean from start to finish. You have really good angles throughout the entire effect.
I love that the bag is tyvek and is washable.
This will not let you down. Even the glass is perfect!!

There are many versions of an appearing glass or any object for that matter. But what makes this stand out, is #1 the sound, the weight suddenly seen pushing down inside the bag, and knowledge of the spectator, that something has appeared. #2 The glass which is removed, is filled with whatever drink you want, and there is no cover to dispose of. #3 The bag can be touched inside and looked into by the spectator before and after the appearance. (You will need to control the examination, but it really impresses and seems fair).
I would say negatively, that my bag does not click like it is suppose to, and does sometimes get caught when opening, but this trick is too good to lose a star!
You can probably be surrounded about 130 degrees in front of you, if you carefully follow the video's finger tips.
There is this this real cool packaging, which is just a VI bonus like usual.

This prop is excellent , durable and well made. I’ve used it twice already, once for a virtual show and once live using an invisible deck both times. It is perfect for an invisible deck routine. When I got this, I was hoping to use this for a jumbo size deck or a book but not the right size. You could use it for a jumbo size, I suppose, and even show the inside of it ‘empty’ if you’re creative and add ‘something’ in there. Overall, great prop and will use it more.

Is it what i thought it would be, no it is not. I thought the process would have been different. The quality of the bag is good, and i may be able to use this more for the bonus download than the glass download. Will see how i work it into the routine.

  • Richard asks: Is it repeatable right away?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It is not instantly repeatable. The reset is about 15 seconds.
  • David asks: Are you able to drink the liquid after producing the glass?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You are!
  • Dimitris asks: do you have to be standing straight and not moving before the load,to not spill the drink?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You can move before the routine but when the glass is "prepped" for loading, it's good to stay in one spot.
  • werner asks: Do you have to wear a jacket

    • 1. Corey answers: In the description it says "All you need is a belt and some type of coat, hoodie, cardigan or similar."

  • Greg asks: Can I wear a vest which is buttoned closed?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, if a jacket is worn over it.
  • Shawn asks: Can this be produced without the paper bag?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No, the bag is integral to the effect.
  • Jordan asks: is that true that you are not limited to drinks to produce when performing this magic trick or can you produce anything when you perform this magic trick with the bag provided when you purchase this magic trick?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, correct.
  • Shaun asks: What about if you don't have a flat stomach. Can you still produce the glass comfortably if you have a little bulge?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Absolutely, just make sure you have a loose-ish fitting jacket.
  • Stanley asks: What are the angles like? Can someone be behind you?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Before you're loaded, you can show all sides of the bag. After you're loaded, you still have great angles. You wouldn't want anyone to be directly behind you though. But, you don't have to load the glass until you're ready. So, the minor adjustments needed to get the right angle can be quickly done before you start.
  • jim asks: Could this be used like the Osterlind glass production? Can you load the glass, and then remove your coat before producing it, without exposing the hold-out?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: With some choreography and slight modification, it is possible.
  • Mark asks: Can you take something out of the bag first, show it empty and then produce the glass?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Absolutely! You can remove an object, show the bag empty and then produce the glass.
  • Patrick asks: Is this appropriate for beginners, or does it require some higher-level sleight skill?

    • 1. Jim answers: With a fair amount of practice and rehearsal, a beginner should be able to learn and perform this. That said, realize that you will have to dedicate real time and effort into it.

  • Jordan asks: What will you get in your package when you get appearing glass by Steve Thompson?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You get the glass, the bag and something else for the glass. You'll also get the instructional link.
  • Lorenzo asks: Can this be performed seated? I'm handicapped and cannot perform standing.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It is possible if you are able to steal the glass.
  • Deryck asks: Can you start with the paper bag flat and folded, pulling it out of your pocket that way?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, absolutely.
  • Danny asks: Does the trailer show him actually loading the glass into the bag or is already loaded?

    • 1. Jim answers: In my opinion, the trailer shows what the audiences sees. This is not video editing—this is good, if you practice it.

  • Rod asks: Will there be an option to buy extra bags if the bag gets overused as I do street shows and things end up jammed in cases on the exit of shows often ?

    • 1. Jim answers: The bag should last a looong time. That said, customer service will help you out with a discounted replacement, if needed.

  • Rene asks: Are you getting the holdout for the glass or do we need to provide our own holdout?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You will almost certainly already own the item recommended for the hold out used in this trick!
  • Lorenzo asks: Can this be performed seated? I'm handicapped and cannot perform standing. 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It is possible if you are able to steal the glass. This reply really does not answer the question. Let me try again. Can one steal and load the glass from the holdout while seated? Is this at all contemplated and discussed by Steve Thompson?

    • 1. Avrohom answers: If you are seated, you can just need to initially hide the glass in your lap or between your knees, and then you will have to sneak it behind the bag at some point. I just tried it, and it is actually easier to perform it while seated than standing. Good luck, and good health to you.

  • Danny asks: Does the trailer show him loading the bag or has that part been edited out? Is there built in misdirection to accomodate the load?

    • 1. Jim answers: The trailer shows an actual performance. What you see on the trailer, is what the audience sees.

  • Eric asks: Can the gimmick be used to produce a bottle of beer?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Depending on the size of the beer, it might be too big to produce.
  • Patrick asks: Am I able to perform this as an opener and then remove my jacket for the rest of the show? Or would something get revealed?

    • 1. Jim answers: Yes, you can.
