Catch by Vanishing Inc.
Catch Coin Vanish

"Catch" allows you to perform coin effects that look like real magic. It's that good. Ask yourself this simple question: if you had the power to vanish a coin from your hand, what would it look like? Now keep that mental movie in your mind and watch the trailer...see what we mean? There are no tells, awkward movements, or strange presentations to justify a weird method. A coin is placed on your legitimately empty palm. The fingers close around the coin for a brief moment and when you open your hand the coin is truly gone.

But "Catch" is more than a coin vanish. It's a device with no moving parts, yet once a coin is slipped into it, it has a clever locking system so the coin won't fall out...until you wish to release it. In other words, this device not only vanishes coins, but allows you to reproduce them as well. This makes it ideal for transpositions, changes, and more. You can use borrowed or even signed coins.

  • Use any small coin you like, across multiple currencies
  • No magnets, elastic (or anything else!) attached to the coin
  • Easy to do (but with some killer advanced handlings for the coin guys)
  • Use borrowed pocket change

As well as the specially made gimmick (which is ambidextrous), you also get access to a 35-minute video tutorial during which you will learn which handling to use in which scenario.

Catch trick angles

Questions & Answers

How practical is “Catch”?
Very! In the instructional video, you will learn handlings for all sorts of environments. If you want a vanish that you can perform in walkaround situations, we’ve got you covered. If you want to perform an ultra clean coin through glass, we’ve got you covered too. Or if you are looking for eye-popping visuals that look great on camera (like the first vanish in the trailer), we’ve got you covered there too!

What size coins can I use with “Catch”?
Catch works with small pocket change. The ideal size coins are quarters, 10p pieces or 50c coins. No matter which country you live in, there will be a coin that is suitable. (It’s not designed for large coins like half dollars because that would make the gimmick ineffective.)

What are the angle restrictions?
The angles for “Catch” are very good. They will vary, depending on which method you decide to use, but for the most part, you will easily have 180-270 degree coverage.

Do I need sleeves?
The coolest part of this gimmick is that you can do it with your sleeves rolled up (but you will need to wear something like a watch or wrist strap to hold the gimmick). It’s an unobtrusive gimmick that is ready to go as soon as you need it. We do suggest that you use a watch with an adjustable strap though since those with links may require adding another link to accommodate the gimmick.

I have used similar concepts over the years and sleights for similar affects, with this said I love the product itself however I do wish half dollar was an option.

Wonderful gimmick - cleverly designed, with great potential. My ONLY criticism (or suggestion, actually) would be to coat it with some sort or grippy, rubber surface. Those who have purchased it will understand. Otherwise, well done.

Reviewer

Graham

I think it’s a great little gimmick and can’t wait to use it. It needs a bit of practice which I am doing.

Reviewer

James

Excellent trick that looks so good. It starts and ends clean and is very deceptive. There are a few different moves that can be done. Being able to make the coin disappear and then appear in a pocket or suit jacket looks great. There is some practice needed to use the device properly and make it look unnoticeable. There will also be a coin from any country that can be used with it.

Reviewer

Nathan

Very clever and deceptive. With a bit of misdirection of what is going to happen the work is done before the spectator knows so looks so clean. Coin to pocket is brilliant. Very good tutorial.

Catch emerges as a practical and versatile coin vanish device to various environments and scenarios. The instructional video ensures that whether you are performing for walk around situations, executing a clean coin-thru-glass, or aiming for visually striking effects suitable for camera work, Catch has you covered. It is adaptable for small pocket change including: quarters, 10p pieces, of 50c coins making it universally accessible.

The angle restrictions are broad and the unobtrusive nature of the gimmick allows performers to execute the banish with sleeves rolled up, provided they were a watch or something to secure the device.

It looks like real magic. The vanish is clean. There are no awkward movements or tells. It is convincing and deceptive. The device has a clever locking systems that adds a layer of functionality, enabling not only vanishes but also fun stuff like reproductions of coins for transpositions and changes.

Absolutely fantastic gimmick!
It's so simple yet so perfect at the same time. When I read in the trailer that it doesn't use magnets I was slightly disappointed as I thought that would be the best method for it, but no, magnets would vastly hinder this gimmick and it's much much better as it is. It's made very well and won't ever break, and is so easy to perform! Practising is also very satisfying too!
The locking method is genius and again, very satisfying!
Very quick delivery too and the explanation video was fantastic! He explained everything so well and covered all bases. The pace of the video was perfect - it didn't drag or take ages on one simple point, but also wasn't rushed in any way, he spent the perfect amount of time on each section and explained everything very very well making it super easy to follow!
Over the moon with this gimmick! Wish I could give more stars!

I want to start off by saying. I love this. it's very clever...and one of those things where I thought to myself "why didn't I think of this". It's a very very deceptive and unassuming gimmick. There is nothing inherently bad about the product. It does EXACTLY what the trailer shows. So if you just like what you saw. Buy this. Because you get exactly that.

Now let me take a deeper dive. With a little more information that might possibly answer some questions you might be having that the trailer doesn't answer. I speak for myself when I say that my experience has been that magicians have been searching for the "perfect" and "cleanest" vanish of a coin for a long time....the community always seems to be on the grind and the look out for the perfect coin vanish. To incorporate in our current coin routines or as a stand alone. It's be the subject of conversation amongst magicians since my introduction into magic. With that said ....off the top of my head... There are many different options out there. Such as the topit, TKO, raven, etc....all of them without question have their pros and cons with the preparation and what effects can be done, where and the angles. Some are more suitable for certain situations. Like if you wear a coat....or a button down shirt and so on. Some require and additional apparatus to be attached to your person. Hidden by your clothes. Although all of those are fine options. They each require a certain level of setup and "alteration" to your clothes before you ever leave the house. And if you need to adjust or check on something. You have to go in a different room to do so. Which is okay for some. Others don't want to fuss with that....this product eliminates that....and you don't even have to set it up before leaving your house. You could head out to wherever and once you park. You could set it up in 10 seconds and be ready to do this the rest of the day. Before I ramble on....I should mention that for me....and others im sure. For a product to be good it has to check a few boxes and meet some criteria and with this my criteria would be...,is it well made, the answer is yes. It should last you a lifetime if you take care of it. is it difficult?....this one is interesting... because the basic vanish is easy. But the potential for expanding the applications are tremendous...at that point, it would depend on who's hands this product is in and what they develop...when asking if it's difficult. But I want to be clear that the basic one handed vanish as well as a few 2 handed ones should be within the grasp of any magician with a basic knowledge of sleight of hand with coins should be able to pick this up quick. I would dare say you will be accomplishing the vanish within minutes. But perfecting and polishing could take much longer.do I need a coat or long sleeves? No. You don't. You could do this in a tank top and shorts. Is there a reset. No and yes..... But I must be clear, it only would need a reset if the routine performed was such that you didn't reproduce the vanished coin. Even then, the actual reset could theoretically been done in mid performance of your next routine. Without revealing to much. It would be a matter of being mindful of your situation and designing a moment in your follow up routine to provide the needed motivation to reset. The instruction download that comes with this has a beautiful routine that does EXACTLY what I'm describing but designed the vanish and reset into an actual routine.....which I love. Because he is using the choreography of that routine to reset lol. it's the coin vanish to pocket routine. It's a beautiful piece of magic. The type where you don't have to say anything....just vanish the signed coin and pull it from your pocket. It's awesome, clever and strng.. Ive always tried to incorporate the motto of if an audience member cannot walk away from a trick you performed....call up a friend and describe the trick you did.....in one sentence. Then it either isn't worth doing or you need to re work it to make the effect clearer....and that's the cool thing here. Besides tha gimmick...u get the download teaching a bunch of routines....all of them are simple. .to the point....and relatively easy....

Now my least favorite part of this. The negatives...I personally only have 1 negative about this...and its that they made it so the largest coin you can vanish is a quarter. I wonder why they didn't make it so you could do half dollar or dollar sized coins. Because it might really limit who's going to want this. Manly because most magicians use half dollars. Not quarters. So it seems a little restricting.....I only say this because it seems that they could have made it possible to be able to vanish the bigger coins with a little adjustment without affecting the abilities and attributes of the smaller coin vanishes. However, I knew this before I purchased. I wasn't surprised. I believe it mentions it in the trailer we well. Any way....that's my only negative regarding this and it isn't that big of a deal because I imagine you know this before you get it and it's a matter of choice and preference before getting it.

That's all I have for now. Sorry for the long winded review here. I wanted to be thorough. In case anyone was contemplating on getting this and has a few looming questions to ask before doing so. I hope this helps. The main take away for me is .....It does EXACTLY what you see in the trailer and exactly what the trailer says you can do.....

I would give this gimmick 8.5/10 stars. Very clever gimmick that essentially allows sleeving a coin without sleeves!!
+ Comfortable to wear
+Difficult for Layperson to detect
+ Very easy to use, very little practice needed
+ allows Vanishing AND producing Coin
+ can be performed while earing T-Shirt
+ Outstanding Educational Video
- Only works with smaller coins (US Quarter about the biggest).
- Not Silent at the moment of Vanish
- Need to wear Watch or wristband to hide the gimmick

It's an amazing idea indeed.
I never thought it could be so easy and "tricky" but five stars well deserved.
This gimmick should be a must for all who like to end the coin routine clean and hand-free.
The only con, if I must say one, is that it only supports one specific type of coin (in my case EUR 50 cents) but is something we can work on.
Despite of some comments I've read, in my case well paid and enjoyed!

I love this gimmick hence the name catch! There’s no sleight of hand required. You show the coin in your palm. As you close your hand, the coin is still there.

Do the move and open your hand and it’s gone! That’s some great magic! I prefer to open my hand palm up as opposed to palm out. The less movement of the entire hand the better. It I do believe that this is an ingenious gimmick!

It's a well-made gimmick and should never need replacing. Takes quite a knack to get it right but all good things come to those who wait and are patient. I enjoyed the explanation and the quality of the video is as always top notch. I love the locking system. That is super clever and practical.

I look forward to using this in the final vanish of a coin in a coins across sequence.

Super clever little gimmick for vanishing a coin completely. Really well made, the video instructions are clear and easy to follow. Best to use this with a black watch strap that is not too thin. I have used this extensively on layman and they are very fooled by it. The gimmick is not flimsy at all and will last a long time. I would have loved it to take larger coins but that would come with other problems. Great little product, great instruction, get this!

Reviewer

Most coin magicians try their best to vanish a coin as clean as they can. And they accomplish this by coming up with moves and subtleties to show both hand empty. This device here allows you to do just that, without complex sleights. The only downside is that it cant be done with half dollars or bigger coins.

Okay, I got this during the VI Holiday sale; it looked interesting.

When I arrived, I took a look, but being on deadline, I set it aside thinking, "this is another gimmick for "The Drawer" of unwanted gadgets.

Tonight, I watched the video. "This is really well thought out!" is what came to mind.

"But, I don't think I could ever actually do this," was my next thought. "I'm an old guy."

Wanting to prove that I'd wasted money on yet another magic gimmick, I got a quarter, stood next to the bed ... "Let's actually try this out!"

Did it 2 out of the first 10 tries.

Made it vanish 4 of the next 10 tries.

Then, made it work 7 of 10 tries.

Finally, just now, I "caught the magic" 9 of 10 tries.

In the space of about 10 minutes of dedicated trials, I've gotten relatively proficient with making the quarter vanish and reappear. Ready for performance under fire? Not yet.

However, I believe with just a few minutes a day practice, it won't be long until I'll have a cool thing I'll use!

Even an old guy, with beat up hands, can learn new tricks! Thanks VI!

I really love this product. The visuals are insane! I plan to use this on video to start with where I can control the angles and lighting exactly for starters, but I also would like to try this live in person as well! The instructional video is also well produced and this effect does not appear to be difficult to do at all. I am excited to master this one!

I was a bit skeptical when I ordered it. I am very pleased now. This is almost like having a small version of the "Blackbird" gimmick by Jeff Copeland. This allows for a coin up the sleeve, even when you have no sleeves.
This item is very well made. Easy to use. And eminently suitable to keep on you always...that is if you are a magician. This is one of the gimmicks you want to have with you. No pocket space is needed.
I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks Josh and Andi.

Oh where to start. I'm pretty new to magic, but I love this gimmick. I literally forget I have it on, and its like, oh, let me see that quarter. WHAT QUARTER?!
Gimmick is made of quality material, and when it loses its durability is easy to repair. I only wish this was good for half dollars. It is two parts, and one of those parts will wear out after some time, but is easily replaced and repaired. Very simple and elegant design, which is probably why it works so well.
As far as using the gimmick, it might feel awkward at first and totally visible, but I use it with my Fitbit and it works great. I imagine I could use my nicer watch with the metal band as well. Might be more noticeable because the watch is silver vs my black Fitbit. No one has noticed it when performing tricks with the device. The video comes with some good tips for how to use the device so as not to run into issues, but I also think the device itself is pretty intuitive.
Tricks themselves are simple to do and have a power effect. You can make a coin appear from no where or make one disappear into nothing. Difficulty is low, and no real sleight of hand needed unless you are adding to the routines in some way (would love to see something).
One thing I will say, is this gimmick is better suited for noisier environments. The gimmick does produce a bit of noise which could give away what is happening, so some sort of party, or a bar, or where there are people talking and music playing are the ideal places to use this gimmick. Not great for a silent room.
Be sure to practice first, and use a mirror and camera if you can. The video will give you great tips on handling and routine. Totally recommend this. Great little opener to more serious tricks.

I just received mine today, and what a cool, classy, little gimmick! Even the little, black slider box it comes in is snazzy! I was a little concerned about the conceal, but once it was in place, looking in the mirror from just a few feet away, it was practically invisible! EXCELLENT!!I immediately started messing with it, and I can say in all honesty, even if you're a beginner, you'll get the hang of the little gadget quickly. Reproductions are accomplished as easily as vanishes with minimal practice, and the way the thing is made, it'll definitely outlast me, lol.If you want to vanish and reproduce US Quarter size coins, grab one!
Personally, I'd like to see something like this for bigger coins, like the US 50 cent piece, or a Mexican twenty centavo.

So, when I first saw the trailer I thought I had a basic idea of what this was. When I finally opened it and started practicing, I realized it was pretty much exactly what I had imagined... but what I didn't imagine was how amazingly easy and smooth it is. I thought, for sure, it was going to be super knacky, but after a couple minutes, I was hitting it every time. I love this thing!

This is brilliant and well worth the money especially while discounted for Black Friday. So, I just-just ordered this through a Black Friday deal, and I'm glad I did! I've had my eye on CATCH since I began perusing, wish listing, and buying. I can't speak for the gimmick just yet, but I think the tutorial is about as thorough as one can get (It would've been much cooler to see two of these gimmicks in action instead of just suggesting, though!)

An addition to my review below: Everything I said was true but keep your gimmick in its case or somewhere safe as it is very delicate and can easily break if carried in a pocket.

Brilliant solution. So much hype, this is practical and ingenious. I would suggest a sort of thin "lining" to eliminate you know what, but wow! It looks like magic should and is fun to just play with.

George is an engaging and & thoughtful teacher. As others have said, It would be great to design this for a larger coin; understanding everyone’s body structure is different and may not be practical for all, but I so want to combine this with Greg Wilson’s Split Focus! Great and practical gimmick! Highly recommended, even if you’re not a coin person!

I like it. I use it. It does what it says it will do. I'm not a big gimmick guy, BUT, that being said, when it works ... it works. And for me, this is an amazing helper. It's not for every vanish every time, but if you do Nest of Wallets or something similar, it adds a whole new dimension. I say buy it. It's the TT of coins.

Reviewer

Roberto

When you’ll first receive the gimmick you will be tempted to dismiss it. It requires a little bit of practice and you’ll not be able to make it work right away.

In the beginning I had many doubts. The gimmick initially failed to me too many times and I was scared that it was too much exposed.

After trying it in real life situations I must admit it is really great. It’s invisible from the front, and many people didn’t catch it (pun intended) even from the sides. I was astonished how well it fooled people, and how they were really floored.

Invest time to follow the tutorial, practice enough to be confident on the moves required and you’ll have an incredible weapon at your disposal.

Just be aware that you’ll need a watch or a bracelet, possibly (and better) with a black strap.

A one handed coin vanish is a wonderful thing to have in your arsenal. Getting used to the angles to hide and produce takes very little time.
My best advice to buyers as well as the manufacturer, is to smooth out the bottom like the top so double sided tape can be used. That way, even a watch is not necessary. I prefer it that way, much more impressive.

Sometimes you look at these trailers and think this is too good to be true! But this is 'simply' amazing. It's because of its simplicity that its so fooling. I've always wanted to do an ultra clean signed coin to nest of wallets where you show both hands empty and CATCH fits the bill. You have to practice it a lot to get the performance to be consistent, but that's true of many tricks. I find that the gimmick "talks," so I need the kids in the audience to call "1, 2, 3!" to hide the sound in a quiet room. I have more practice to go before I am confident the quarter won't go sailing off my hand! I'm glad I bought it and am looking forward to using it.

It's a very specific gimmick, but while of course you should practice it a lot, it's one that isn't hard to use. And it's well made, for what it is. As stated in the ad-copy, you need to wear a watch or something like that. Which should't really be a problem. It's not expensive and the explanation is as you can expect from Vanishing Inc in great quality.

Reviewer

Michael

It gets the job done but a little bit hard to use. If you do coin tricks without any gimmicks already then don’t get this. But there are one or two good tricks you can get out of this. Just a bit hard to handle.

A bit knacky but fun to practice with. It's something I occasionally carry with me as it doesn't really take up much space and allows for really clean vanishes. The fact that it can't vanish anything larger than a US quarter might be an issue for some but I think it works out as it keeps the gimmick low profile and also allows for some great impromptu vanishes with borrowed coins.

The motivation behind the purchase was just an alternative to basic coin vanishes. I don't mind practicing/performing coin vanishes but I wanted something to seem flawless. After practicing here and there through months, I notice when coin is in the right spot. The only things sometimes I have to make sure my watch is lined up right and strap not too loose.

I actually really like this. As simple as it is, when done correctly it can have a huge impact. It's not foolproof and requires some practice. But just like any trick, to master it and make it look good practice is required. It's actually fun to practice with because when you start to get it down it's a really fun feeling. Then once that occurs it can be a very powerful deception. I would definitely recommend it. It's probably not for everyone but if you like to master things and appreciate the end result you will love it!

Catch something I purchased presumably after watching a trailer for the product! Due to the problems of multitasking on a daily basis, I have only just watched the download and realised that it is far more versatile than I imagined. However, because I have a metallic band on all my watches. I have devised another method of fixing the gimmick on the wrist just below the shirtsleeves and will be making far more use of it than 1st envisaged!

Great gimmick. Through and lengthy instruction is also provided. Works with quarters and smaller which does add some variety to one’s standard coin routines. Easy to use this gimmick at a moments notice practically. It’s a keeper

This one worked pretty well for me. I like the idea of layering methods in magic, and this is a great little secret weapon that can hide with you and be used to take your coin magic to a different level. Slightly knacky, yes, but not too bad, and the visual nature of the vanishes is very clean. The gimmick is durable, discreet, and simple in a good way, and I’m pretty sure you will be able to get it in and out of play as you choose. The coin to pocket taught is very nice, and I am working on a coin to bottle where I feel like the presence of the bottle makes this gimmick an absolute cakewalk.

Cons might be your particular watch, or if you even wear one, so be aware of that one. Practice is, of course, required, but I’d be surprised if you can’t get the hang of it. Some have mentioned the flicker vanish, and that something else (that you probably have) is required, so they feel that vanish might not be doable. I disagree, and will be working on this one and intend to use it in a live situation with real spectators.

Nice video and teaching from VI, and overall a great addition to your arsenal. I am happy with this one.

Catch is very well made. The gimmick makes an old principle more usable in today's world. From this standpoint Catch deserves a five star rating. My rating is lower because of its practical usage. I was intrigued by the product description and wanted to know the secret. I am very satisfied with the product quality and the price. Yet for me, I am still undecided if there is sufficient payback for the effort required to use the gimmick. I do not consider this to be a general purpose utility because of the maximum coin size that may be used and the type of movements used with the gimmick. It is designed for coins about the size of a quarter or smaller. The action for loading a coin to Catch takes practice to acquire the required knack. Once the knack is acquired, the next challenge is to incorporate the loading motion in a routine so that it makes sense and appears natural. Unloading the coin is far more natural. However, when attempting to use the gimmick for a Coins Across type of effect, Catch released the coin at the wrong time because of the common actions used with the effect. This unloading characteristic means that there is a specific range of effects in which Catch may be used. The instructional video includes several effects that work well with the dynamics of the gimmick. Another consideration varies by individual. Because of my skin condition and common hand actions I found that I must use Catch wearing long sleeves. It is possible to use Catch without wearing long sleeves if you apply common approaches found in coin magic.

The gimmick is very well made and works as shown. However, be aware that the most interesting visual on the trailer requires some additional set up.

It is also NOT a gimmick that you can ring in or out easily...it needs to be set in place out of sight and stay there. Not a problem as it is designed to do that and does not get in the way, but if you are going to do many tricks in a row other than coins, you just need to think that through.

I am enjoying working with it, and have found that for me the type of watch band and fit of the band (how tight and location on your wrist) make a world of difference in the accuracy of the move and how it looks. I have several watches and 2 of them are ideal for this gimmick.

It certainly looks great in the videos and hopefully I can get some practice with it. It will take a bit of time to get it working smoothly enough to look good, just like any other great effect. The gimmick is light, and if you watch your handling, very discreet.

The instructional video is excellent and offers many tips and pieces of advice from someone who has obviously been through the experience.

Overall I find this to be totally worth it and I look forward to practicing because once you have it, it looks amazing.

Thanks VI for offering this effect and keep them coming! You offer a truly impressive stable of products at very competitive pricea.

Yes, this will require practice.

Yes, it's not completely silent. But some simple modifications (e.g. with black painter's tape in key areas) can help. But as long as your performance context isn't totally silent, you're probably fine. I think you'd want some background noise to be totally free and clear.

Did I mention you'll actually have to practice to do this well? If you're not familiar with the nature of the required move(s) it's going to feel like a weird, low-percentage move, but in the long run this kind of move can be very reliable. If you practice.

I think this is a very good item (and download!) for the price.

By the way, this'll take some practice!

It's an excellent edition to your regular coin vanishes/productions, because you can end with your hands absolutely clean. Catch works fine with chips/tokes as well.
You've got to put some effort in learning the handling ofcourse. Durabilty seems good.
Limitations are the smaller coin sizes and the fact that it rattles when loaded.
All in all a pretty neat gimmick for coin magicians.

A great device that fits perfectly with a smart watch strap, it even fits in with my smoke watch pro. Just wish Catch was a little wider to accommodate larger coins. Superb tutorial and handing's from George. After some practice you'll find that sweet spot.

High quality gimmick. Should last a lifetime. The video instructions are excellent and the teacher does a fantastic job communicating the moves for both vanish and production.

My only disappointment is one that's probably anticipated by the creator: the vanish that got all of our attention in the trailer is one he calls the "Flicker Vanish"....one in which the coin vanishes with no movement at all other than to close and open the hand.

This is misleading. This "flicker vanish" requires the addition of another additional gimmick (used with the Catch gimmick) and it's a gimmick that many magicians detest using or have trouble using. It's also not mentioned in the trailer that this is apparently considered a vanish that's for "video use only" (as indicated in one of the questions answered above).

In summary, it's an excellent gimmick that has a multitude of uses for vanishes, productions, switches, etc. My only disappointment was to discover that 1/3 of the vanishes displayed in the trailer are recommended for "video only" and require the use of an undisclosed, additional gimmick.

It’s a nice trick. Something you’ll have to work hard with. It’s not a “this gimmick will do everything for you” kinda trick. So it’ll take time to do.

Now some big warnings before you buy:
1. Bigger people (specifically with bigger sized wrists, hands and arms) will have a tough time with this. I had to mod mine a little to get mine to work 70-80% of the time (did about 100 moves and was able to do it around 70-80 times). So slimmer people will have this down faster.
2. Quarter and smaller works. Nothing bigger. I was able to do a 2 quarter vanish but with that came some slight complications on the production or just slip away part.
3. Thick thick thick band or watch only. Nothing smaller than like an inch/ 1 1/4inch. Otherwise the trick will fail.

These are the 3 major points I have with this trick. #1 and #3 are my biggest gripes on this manner and why I rated it low. Otherwise it is a good trick overall.

I got this as a gift in the Black Friday sales. The gimmick is well made, the trailer and the product description are pretty fair and the instructional video is in good quality. However, I wouldn't have bought it and I don't think I will be using this.

Edit - I lowered the rating on this due to the obviousness of it. I have performed coin vanishes using Catch where the spectator did not see how the vanish was done, Catch worked, but the audience member guessed "the coin must be in the watch band somewhere". The spectators didn't see the gimmick but they made a logical and correct guess about the coins location. You can't show them your watchband so there is no way to surprise/fool them.
Original review:
I really enjoy this product. It is clever and it does what it says. It takes a lot of practice to get good enough to be able to use this in front of an audience with confidence that the coin won't miss the mark. It takes even more practice to be able to retrieve the coin smoothly, on demand, without it ending up on the floor. I think this is a bit more difficult than VI has it ranked. Easy to use but difficult to use well. I have two caveats. One is the noise. VI stated "It isn't noisy at all". That is incorrect. There is a very distinct sound when the coin first hits as well as most of the time you move your hands. You can talk over it. On a stage or street it isn't noticeable but in a quiet environment it is. Two is the size. I was worried that it would be overly noticeable but with proper management of how you hold your hands it blends in well. The wider your watch strap the better though. I think the Catch is especially useful for the non coin magic performer that needs to vanish a coin as part of another effect. Despite my criticisms I do find this to be a great addition to my toolkit.

Very fun but even more disappointing.

Positives:
-Very well made (will last forever)
-Ingenious gimmick that allows you the ability to do some amazing, clean vanishes.
-Signed coin to pocket is Awesome!
-Very fun to practice (great fidget factor for those who like keeping their hands busy while watching TV or other activities)
-Good video instructions (Good explanations, we’ll shot, multiple angles)

Negatives
-Not practical for me. I’m a watch guy and may wear a different watch every day of the week. I have watches with leather bands, resin bands (like on a Casio G-Shock) or steel bracelets. For leather and resin, it’s easy because you loosen the band a hole or two and pop it in. For a steel band they suggest you add a link or two. This is where it gets interesting. If you add links it will be too loose, unless you have the gimmick in. So now you’re dedicating what could be a very expensive watch to this trick or at least required to use the gimmick while wearing that watch or adding and removing links all the time. Not necessarily a big deal unless you’re having the next issue.
-I could not keep the gimmick in place or even to stay in my watch. Whether wearing a watch with a strap or a properly sized steel bracelet, after 10 minutes or so of doing normal activities it fell out. I was able to resolve this with double sided tape on one of my resin band watches and it worked great. I always had the gimmick on me and ready to go. After 3 or 4 days I wanted to wear a different watch. I tried the same thing with a steel bracelet and couldn’t get the tape to work. The only thing that worked was wearing it so tight that the watch was uncomfortable and the gimmick dug into my skin and making marks. In addition to the discomfort, having it that tight creates an issue with the way the gimmick works. I continued to experiment and got to a point where I thought I had it worked out with another resin band watch. I put it in, ran a few errands and when I went to potentially use it, it was gone. I back tracked everything I had done and no dice. I couldn’t find it.

Conclusion - This is a great gimmick if you have a watch with straps and you want to make it semi permanent on that watch. It’s also great if you want to Cary it in your pocket and put it in place when you want to use it (which is difficult with a steel watch bracelet). It didn’t work as advertised for me. I wasn’t able to put it in place and go without discomfort, attaching it with double sided tape or ultimately losing it.

In a way I was relieved I lost it. It’s that good where I wanted it with me at all times. But it created limitations around watches I could wear and when. Watches are like ties to me. I change watches based on the situation. If I’m performing a paid gig, I rarely wear a watch with a resin strap, which was the easiest to make work with double sided tape. I tend to wear a metal dive watch or a dressy watch with a leather strap. So just OK for me but may be great for others.

Great gimmick but not idea if you have thick hands or wrists. My hands are thick and the bases of my thumbs are big and so far I can’t pull off the “move”. Not the gimmicks fault but maybe with practice and moving it I’ll figure it out somehow.

Ok, I like idea behind overall But!. It is actually pretty noisy be aware of it, you can go around with it I guess. One important thing, really, really be careful how do you position your hands because spectators going to see it very easy!

I really like this idea and wanted to perform with it. Unfortunately upon the 2nd or 3rd time practicing with it, it broke. I didn't have it too snug under my wrist, but as soon as I flexed my wrist, one of the pieces on the gimmick snapped. I will give high praises to the instructional video, it was very thorough.

Reviewer

Richard

As others have mentioned, a bit knacky and not 100% reliable - others have mentioned more tricky for those with bigger wrists. The biggest downside is that if you wear a watch that's where the spectator attention goes, so will be back to relying on sleights and damp skin.

As soon as I saw the trailer I knew that I wanted this. My brain immediately started to think about all the effects that I could create and perform if I could vanish a coin so cleanly and then retrieve it whenever I wanted...

If only.... was that easy. I probably put about 5hrs so far of practice, and although it's getting a bit better (not by much) I'm still too far away from 100% accuracy that I think it's needed to pull an effect like this off. Or you need to have backup plans/routines that you can use if you fail to "catch" the coin.

Love, the idea and the gimmick but in practicality it's no where as easy and accurate as the trailer makes it seem. Not sure if there's something in particular about the hands/skin of all the people that gave it a 5 STARS but as a fairly muscular guy approaching 50 there's just not fool-proof position of the watch and gimmick (left/right closer/farther from wrist or tilting the hand) to make it precise.

For now it will stay in the house!

The first item I received was broken, and labelled as "Marcus Eddie - Catch", which I'm presuming was old stock. Contacted support and quickly received a response (in minutes) saying a replacement would be sent, which arrived a week or so later.

The device is quite large comparative to the thing you're "hiding" it in, and it talks, so I don't think it's suitable for anything other than video - which even then, you could do 'the move' without the device entirely, albeit you wouldn't be able to bring it back. I also found that it can pinch the skin, which provides an extra barrier to effective use.

I think the price is reasonable for what is provided, and I could see some people getting use out of this - however I think this is much more a video/instragram trick than a real world practical effect.

The gimmic was genius but I give it a below standard only because I don't wear a watch which is the only downside as for if you do wear a watch then this is a must have, Great product to throw into your coin stuff even though you have to use a quarter or smaller but who knows maybe if it sells good the creator will make one for bigger coins. Ya gotta get one.

Struggling to understand how this gets so many 5 star reviews. It works exactly how you thought it didn't when you watched the video.

Bought this as I expect many will in the hope of the final clean end of routine vanish. It just does not live up to the video. I say again it is the exactly what you thought it wasn't when you fell for the trailer.

Another straight to the draw gimmick. You would be better off saving the money and practising your coin palms and final wash clean. Another Kings new clothes of magical tat.

I was thrilled to be receiving this in the mail, as I love knacky coin sleights and I'm always willing to put in the effort. But I can tell this is not something that can be performed with any degree of consistency which makes it pretty much unusable. 10 out of 10 for what this could be in theory. 2/10 for real world practicality which unfortunately is everything. I've never returned a magic item in my life as I love supporting the community, even when I buy a stinker. But this simply doesn't work. I have no choice but to return it to Vanishing Inc. The most charitable I can be is to say perhaps it's an anatomical thing and the shape of my wrists just don't allow for this to work well.

After receiving Catch and watching the instructional download.
After examining the gimmick, at first I thought this was pretty cool
But after playing with it I decided this is not for me. It’s very difficult to maneuver your hand to move the coin into the gimmick located under your watch band without being noticed and visible to the spectator.
It’s a lot easier to use a retention vanish with no gimmick! And more convincing as no bulky gimmick visible under your watch band. Not for me !

  • Ryan asks: Can the catch gimmick be adapted to any watch?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It isn't fitted onto a watch, so you're good there.
  • Kim asks: Is this usable with half-dollars and with full-sized dollars? What's the weight limit? I have another disk-shaped prop I want to work with that is roughly coin-sized in diameter, but is nearly 4 times thicker. So I'll need to know the weight limit. Thanks.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No — Catch is designed for pocket change. Anything larger or thicker than a quarter won't work.
  • Michael asks: Is this gimmick suitable for quiet environments (i.e. does it make [much] noise)?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It isn't noisy at all. In fact, we added an element into the gimmick to ensure that it is quiet.
  • Robert asks: I wear Rolexes and Omega watches only. I do not want to use a gimmick that would risk scratching any part of my luxury watches, including the band and clasp. Is this gimmick safely compatible with luxury watches with stainless steel and/or gold bands and snap closure clasps, (rather than a buckle type that would be found on leather bands)?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Nice watches. The gimmick itself fits under the strap of the watch, not on the watch.
  • Brandon asks: How knack is this? Do we have to aim the coin at the device and potentially have it miss it?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: As with all good tricks, it will take some practice and as with all devices of this nature, if you don't hit the gimmick, the coin will fall on the floor. :)

  • Rick asks: Can the spectators be looking down at your hands, as they would in real world performances, or do your hands have to be 'straight on' to the spectators (as they are in the demo video)?

  • asks: I like to do magic for my waiter/waitress. I am seated, they are standing at the table. awould that present difficulties, challenges, an undesirable situation?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, this is better to do standing. In your situation, just lapping something would probably be my choice!
  • Jonathan Kaplan asks: There's naturally going to be a tremendous amount of HEAT on your watch and that's going to be the first place that spectators are going to suspect. What do you suggest the user do when the spectators shout out "It's hidden in your watch!" ????

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Having watched this demo'd for years at our convention booth, no one has ever shouted that out.
