A brain-busting close-up illusion that leaves them speechless, without any hard work!

"I just got mine! Everything should be this well-made. ‘Industrial Revelation’ takes a modern classic and feeds it Miracle Grow! The result is a thing of beauty!" David Regal

You start by pushing a quarter or knife through a box of playing cards. Most of the audience is unimpressed until you open up the box and tip out of the contents. Everyone’s jaws will drop when, instead of a deck of cards, a solid block of metal falls out.

This is one of those effects that creates instant stunned silence. Everyone’s brains will start scrambling for an explanation, but there isn’t one. It’s a moment of real magic that’s so easy to do, it’s essentially self-working.

  • No switches
  • No steals
  • No palms
  • No sleight of hand

“Industrial Revelation” by Jamie D. Grant was a runaway winner for “Trick of the Year” when it was first released. It has since been long out of production and has fetched crazy prices on the rare occasions it’s popped up on the secondhand market. When the chance came to purchase the rights and bring this classic back to the community, we leapt at the chance!

Working alongside the original creator, Jamie D. Grant, this brand new version of “Industrial Revelation” is better than ever. The gimmick is more elegant and deceptive than before. Constructed from gorgeous brushed metal alloy (which is designed to look like stainless steel), it can withstand intense scrutiny. For the first time, it also includes a ballistic foam carry case so you can keep your “Industrial Revelation” gimmick safe and untarnished, no matter where you are.

This is a perfect opener and attention-grabber. It’s practical, easy to do, and immediately establishes credibility. As it also resets in seconds, “Industrial Revelation” is the type of effect that will immediately become a permanent staple in your close-up set.

"This is the best thing I've bought in the last couple of years!" Craig Petty

IMPORTANT

In transit, your gimmick may develop a faint line of protective oil along the edges. This is completely normal. Once you wipe it away, your gimmick will be totally seamless. This is all covered in the included instructions.

This is A+. I have the original and this new one matches it identically. Such an astonishing effect. I added the deck holder so I can switch this in quickly. It is a heavy gimmick so it a no go in a pants pocket or a jacket pocket. Highly recommended.

I had the original one and sold it but regretted selling it ,so glad you released it again and I just had to get one it comes with a nice case to keep it in lovely condition.

This has been a perfect family trick for the holidays. Dropping a card box with the metal block inside onto people's hands is such a surprise for them, and when they take it out and see that it's solid... always a big, confused reaction.

I lost my original years ago and was desperate to get a new one. This is even better with the provided carrying case and it’s already a hit for me. I present it as the equivalent of how I became a magician compared to King Arthur pulling the sword from the stone, I pulled the card from the deck.

When I took mine out of the box, I was fooled. I had to watch the instructions before I realized that I was handling the gimmick (which wasn't even "locked" properly! and still couldn't figure it out. Really good item. 8.5/10

Picked this up in Vanishing Inc.s Black Friday sale and I'm glad I did! The gimmick works great and you can fool yourself with it! I managed to fool a group of very skeptical friends and although I won't carry it with me everywhere (it's so heavy!), I will use this a lot, that's for sure. Love the case it comes with too. Very handy indeed.

Just received Industrial Revelation today. When I initially opened the box, a very obvious line was present. After following the instructions in the tutorial, the line became completely invisible. I’ve purchased several similar gimmicks, in the past, with very poor results. It’s wonderful to have finally found a block penetration that meets my specifications.

This item is exactly what it purports to be, and it looks and feels as you'd hope. High quality workmanship. Its utility is somewhat limited, and the price of materials being what they are these days, one must seriously debate whether this item will be worth it for them. If you purchase it, you will get a very high quality item, and for that I give this 4 stars.

Nice but:
Great effect however for ÂŁ120 I would have expected a pre slotted card box or at least some inclination of how best to go about created one neatly and accurately. I personally know how to achieve this but I feel some buyers may not. For me I still prefer Holywood by Hanson Chen its exquisitely made and comes with everything you need plus spares and cheaper but it's only my opinion.

A startling, puzzling little mystery, Industrial Revelation by Jamie D. Grant made major waves when it was first released over a decade ago. Long since unavailable, Vanishing Inc has now done the work to resurrect this effective close-up illusion.

Many similar effects are currently available - Holy Wood and Metal Phone, to name a few - but Industrial Revelation is the one that started it all as a blown-up version of the classic Matchbox Penetration. The effect is simple: a knife or coin is pushed through a slit cut in the middle of a card box. So far, nothing impressive; until the card box is dropped into a spectator's waiting hands and they're startled by the weight of it. They open it themselves and find inside a solid hunk of silver metal that fills the entire box, making what just transpired fully impossible. There are no switches or loads involved; just a cleverly designed, self-contained piece of gimmickry.

Vanishing Inc's re-release is made well, but for full transparency, be aware that there have been some noted quality control issues: some units are perfect, others not so much. With this gimmick, it's perfect or bust: the strength of the effect relies on the spectator's ability to carefully scrutinize the solid block at the end. If they can't do that, there's no trick; and with the unit I first received, this wouldn't be possible.

That said, I shared images of the defect with Vanishing Inc and the team was extremely quick to send out a replacement. I'm sure they'll do the same for you if you receive a unit that wouldn't be usable in performance.

That quibble aside, there's a reason this effect is so beloved, and Vanishing Inc has done a good job of bringing it back to life. Recommended.

  • Wayne asks: As quick as these sold out, are there any plans to do another run in the foreseeable future?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Absolutely! We don't have an exact ETA at this time.
  • Andy asks: Is there any way to order pre-cut boxes? I just ruined two trying to get the perfect slot in the middle and neither came out well. Thanks.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: We don’t provide the pre cut boxes at the moment
  • Gary asks: Love this trick! However mine separates so easily there is no way I can allow it to be examined. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I tried the suggested screw drive in the center pin with no luck.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Please email us at wizards@vanishingincmagic.com and we can look into this for you
  • Bud asks: All the different phases in the demo video show the 'gimmick' being examined. Is it examinable or not?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: The gimmick can be examined.
  • Bud asks: Does the gimmick require batteries?

    • 1. Jim answers: No.

  • Roel asks: What's the weight of this solid block of metal?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: The block is around 24oz
  • Bud asks: I concur with Gary's comments. My unit cannot be examined by most adults. i.e. If I can 'operate the gimmick', most spectators with average strength can also 'operate the gimmick'. Is there any way around this problem? So far, I can only perform this trick for kids.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: In the instructions, it explains how to tighten the unit. Although, in my experience at least, no one even considers "operating" the gimmick. It's just not how laypeople's minds work.
  • Tracey asks: Is the locking mechanism difficult to operate (open)? I have Holywood and it is next to impossible for me to operate. I am female with small hands.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Great question. The tension required to open it is totally adjustable. So you will be able to get it to a tightness that allows you to open it.
  • Mikeal asks: What is the largest width of the object passing through the block.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: A knife or a playing card would be the maximum width
