Trick by Jason Bird and Dallas Fueston (20.00)

In stock.

This is, quite simply, one of the most impactful, poetic effects we have ever produced. A bill self-animates to move and form the shape of a caterpillar. Then, it transforms into an origami butterfly! The folded butterfly can be immediately handed back to the spectator as a souvenir of an unforgettable magical experience.

The best part is that the effect is practical. You can perform it surrounded, and although it uses threads, the approach is entirely workable and easy to manage, and can be mastered within minutes. You'll even learn how to perform it with a borrowed bill using an easy and justified switch.

"Moneymorphosis" comes with a half hour long download which takes you through each step of the process in great detail. This is the best self-folding bill ever devised, and is NOT something other magicians are doing. Get yours instantly...and add a transformational effect to your repertoire.

Online instruction. Running Time: 29mins 58secs

I really liked this! It is a self-folding bill that makes sense, and it is beautiful. The instructions are very clear and it is more practical than I expected, since you can be prepared to perform it several times in a day and can give it away. I'm really glad I got this.

Not crazy about this type of effect for fear that something can go wrong (I guess that can happen with any trick), but I decided to give it a shot. Not disappointed. The gimmick is pretty strong. You do need to test different quality of dollar, in my case a not so crispy one worked better. Fairly easy to set up, easy to perform. I'm still practicing, and can't wait to start showing it around. Great video instructional too, easy to follow. You get everything in a small carry box, almost like a mini Happy Meal, where you can keep everything you need to set it up and carry it with you.

This effect is very strong, and was performing within days of setting it up. Ditto on the confusion in instructions mentioned in other post. Great reactions from spectators. I find I have to reinforce creases just prior to performing or the bill will get caught up in cross fold or end up upside down on final appearing fold. Switch works like a champ. Fun to perform. Worth it!

This couldn't be a more perfect effect for an upcoming series of shows we're creating. Simple, well-taught, well credited, and pretty.

There's definitely a learning curve for making the gimmicks but once you get it down it's not hard. When the package arrived, the thread it came with was so invisible it was really hard to find where it started and I had to use a flashlight and some tweezers to pick it up. Overall, its a great product and the effect itself is so magical. It's loved by everyone, I did it at a kid's party and they loved seeing the butterfly "breathing".

Still practicing it, but it is going to be a very nice effect. One minor error in the video. I'm going to be vague to avoid giving anything away, but if you have purchased this, you'll understand what I'm referring to. At the beginning of one section the bill was face up when it was manipulated, but in the next section, the bill had been manipulated starting in a face down position. It took me a few minutes to understand why my bill looked different. The authors might want to modify the video by adding a couple of text lines to explain this. But, don't let this keep you from purchasing it. It will be a lot of fun to perform, and the video does a very nice job explaining everything.

This is one of the best illusions that I love to perform. Even though the bill I’m the second half of the video is the reverse of what was taught, it’s still great. I feel like I can move objects with my mind like I’m Magneto from X-men. I even have a mutant facial expression that that my own character.

Eventually, I find my own handling that may be a little different from the way the creators do it. Ok other words I may fold it a bit in away that’s more functional than there handling. Overall, I love performing it and am willing to do the arts and crafts prep do it live!

5 stars if you are good at arts-and-crafts. If you aren't talented in that direction, this will be difficult and frustrating. If you manage to get through the finding of the thread, threading the needle (with invisible thread), and several folds after that, then lots of practice, you will have a beautiful and magical result.

  • Les asks: Wouldn't it be chancy to trust the condition of any borrowed bill or is this subject to discussion with the instructions?

    • 1. Jim answers: There is a small risk. If the borrowed bill looks terrible, you could always ask to borrow a crisp one. You are about to perform some visual poetry—it would be reasonable to ask for a nicer bill.

  • Conway asks: We have polymer bills. Will it work with them? If not, could this be done with play or 'joke' bills?

    • 1. Jim answers: In theory, it should work. There might be a risk with tearing—you would have to experiment with the polymer material. Yes, play or joke bills should be fine.
    • 2. Edward answers: Polymer banknotes are very difficult to tear, so that shouldn't be the problem. But I'm worried too about how they will fold. Would be great to hear if anyone has tried this with UK banknotes.

  • stephen asks: Does it work with the new English notes

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: With some good creases on the folds, it can work.
  • Bud asks: If the signed bill involves threads, are they removed before you hand the bill out as a souvenir; or just leave them in, thinking the spectator will leave the souvenir butterfly as is, thereby never knowing there are threads in the bill?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: The threads are removed.
  • Jeffrey asks: Is there any reason why this can’t be done with a similar weight and sized non-bill piece of paper, plain or patterned? I see a presentation that would have nothing to do with borrowing or signing.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You can do this with any dollar-sized paper but money is very organic.
  • Anthony asks: This effect is impromptu ( Borrowed bill). and in the video there is no mention of it .but is there any pre folding involved as your preforming in preparation for the transformation to the butterfly?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It's not exactly impromptu. You are ready to go but the bill can be borrowed and the gimmick is brought into play.
  • Sam asks: Do you gav to make the gimmick yourself ' as I don't have good finger control ' I know what your thinking no finger control how do you manage magic ' simple I use ready made props' and don't use anything that involves cards manipulation. Sorry for the long enquiry. Regards Sam

    • 1. Jim answers: Yes, you will have to make it. In my opinion, it is worth the effort, since you will hand out the bill at the end of the performance.
    • 2. Bud answers: There is no sugar-coating this . It's not easy setting all this up.. It does help if you are an arts-and-crafts person. Don't hesitate to email any questions to 'Vanishing Magic', they helped guide me through the process - even finding the thread beginning & threading the needle for the start of the arts-and-crafts portion of the trick. If you are willing to put some work into this , the end effect is just beautiful poetry in motion, literally!

  • Matthew asks: Could we maybe get a download only version for those of us who have 100 reels of thread in our drawers? Assuming it's pretty standard.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Sorry, that's not at option at this point.
  • Brian asks: Could I use a programmable TR for this effect?

    • 1. Neal answers: Possibility. One would have to try it out.
