the ESP match effect of the 2023 MasterClass sampler was exceptional. I did not like the other effects, but it was free and this effect has gone into my working repertoire with the Evoke deck. The explanation also comes with Evoke, but I think looking at Turner's masterclass explanation combined with the Evoke explanation provides more clarity.

Peter Turner's ESP match is phenomenal. That alone is worth the price of the download (... just kidding, it was on a free bundle! Which is insane that they have it away for free). Peter Turner's psychological forces are beautiful, easy to do, and, while not fool proof, they are real nice when they do work, which happens now often than not. But, even better, is the routine he provides of the psychological force doesn't work! He covers every possibility, how to handle the handling, how to still take advantage of little psychological wins and milk them, and his thinking is great on it. I was turned off of Peter Turner after trying to watch his free-form mentalism dvds from years ago and he was so long winded and seemed so self aggrandizing. But in the years since, as this trick alone demonstrates, he had become wonderful at teaching, and simplifying, and at clarifying that there are always outs to his psychological techniques. Great stuff and I'm flabbergasted it was free.

I had seen Matt's presentation at Magifest and thought it was great. While he revealed the basic secret of the effects there this gets into more detail and I like the tips on how to simplify creating the effects without having to be a mathematical genius.

Nice, easy to do routine. Good clear explanations and covering all aspects of what might happen.

This is an amazing and very clever optical illusion. The wall appears to be completely solid. But the very clever artwork hides a secret that tricks the eye. And yes the car does drive through the wall. The explanation is very well put together.

This is a solid video—it shows two different ESP routines along with multiple presentation. The value for many will likely be the first routine presented, as the second will be more familiar to anyone doing match-up routines. But even in that case, Turner presents some subtleties that are good to have in the magic toolkit.

The "law of enevitability" by Daniel Prado was excellent!!! I learned much more than expected. Daniel's teaching style was superb!!!The spinning card technique was awesome and so much more!!! Love his approach and thinking idea's. Will be looking forward to more of Daniel's video's. A real asset to the magic community! Thank you for sharing your talents with us!!! Joe

Thank you for the free gift. It's actually made me delve into other magic by these creators so it was nice inspiration over the Christmas period!

The video is short, but it has a lot of valuable information.

This is a fantastic idea. I've seen this sort of thing done with foam "cell phones"... Very visual and lends itself to a lot of comedy. I with he would have gone into more detail as to how he made his props (especially if he doesn't sell them). all in all, good idea.

A wonderful selection of unusual and cool tricks. Each chapter covers a completely different topic filled with great advice and helpful tips. Even if you choose not to learn and perform a trick, you will still learn small tidbits to help you in your every day magic. Learning from experts is always a wonderful experience, you never know what you will learn! This was very appreciated.

Simple in performance. Construction not as simple. But Nick presents in a way to open up personal creativity. As I was watching the instructions, I started to brainstorm my own objects. So as I have heard great magicians say, "Simple doesn't always mean easy."

Awesome take on the ESP match, really expanding on the classics and exploring the (now as I discovered through this snippet) endless possibilites and approaches. Thank you Mr Turner!

Peter Turner carefully explains how mentalists use psychological forces and effective "outs" in ways many magicians never think of. This was a great tutorial that literally minimizes the chances of failure. These methods allow the performer to focus on presentation, without worrying about difficult sleights!

Just brilliant; the technical skills are amazing and given the mechanical limitation (hands changing shape/size due to aging) this is awe-inspiring.

I'm a fan of tricks where is the spectator who makes the magic. The reason is that I'm used to be the factotum for the magic to happen and it's so beautifull that I like to offer the experience to my audience. They feel really good, Its their succes and has much more meaning for them than mine -its my work- and it will become memorable. Daniel presents a good example of that with this routine. I'm not too aware of his work because cards aren't my warhorse, but I like a lot what I've seen

Peter does not think like the rest of us...and that's why he has earned the respect of so many of us.

Reviewer

wonderful, thanks

LIKE ANYTHING (ALMOST), IT WILL TAKE TIME TO KNOW WHAT YOUR GOING TO DO , WITHOUT REVEALING YOUR THINKING. ONCE THAT IS MASTERED, THIS ROUTINE WILL ASTONISH ANYONE NOT IN THE KNOW. EXCELLENT.

Reviewer

Ben

A nice explanation to build some more wonder around a classic principle. As always, Peter brings a few "jam session" thoughts to the session.

Reviewer

ken

Very good; I think most knew the one ahead, but the turn-over move, like a two-card monte, was a nice addition. I also like the idea of not taking chances or playing percentages and always having a way out.

Peter Turner is very clever! His thinking always amazes me and his ability to think during performance is outstanding. I can only hope to be able to perform as well as he does. Peter's ESP match is an extremely powerful mentalism routine that is 100% successful! Thank you Peter for giving us this totally impromptu routine!

Terrence

Loved the inhaler idea. Teaches me extension of another magician's trick. And then, of course, mould making is a necessity. Do it yourself! So ... I've learned how magicians think and solve their challenges. Excellent vid! Thank you.

Reviewer

Stephen

Its always fun and fascinating when I listen to Peter Turner talk about methods and thoughts around mentalism. However I believe like many magicians having their own style that not everything is for everyone. Peter has a very unique performing approach which is difficult to copy.

Reviewer

Daniel

As a magician always looking for unique and engaging tricks, I love this and the creativity and originality. This trick is a creative twist on the classic "Multiplying Bananas," substituting bananas with inhalers.

Performance and Impact: The trick itself is visually engaging and unexpected, making it a potential standout in a magician's repertoire - once you find your prop that fits your character. The idea of inhalers multiplying in Nick's hands fits his character and probably not yours or mine.
Find the prop that fits you so it resonates more closely with your persona on stage.

The mechanics of the trick are similar to those familiar with the Multiplying Bananas, so the learning curve isn't steep for experienced magicians.

DIY Adaptation - Mold Making: For those who are interested in customizing the trick, I recommend exploring mold making. Creating your objects allows for personalization and can add an extra layer of uniqueness to the performance. It would be helpful if he included a reference to a video on mold-making. Thanks, Nick and Vanishing Inc., for sharing this with the magic community!

The Masterclass Holiday bundle (2023) contains five excerpts from Vanishing Inc Series arrived as a free download. Overall, the selection was a mixed salad. What is free is free, after all. Prado's inevitability routine, as well as Turner double feature, contained great routines worth the time-effort, while the routines such as a "Car through Wall", "Three Shell game", and "Multiplying Inhalers" were gags and fillers that could have been skipped. I appreciated the free gift, but if this was an advertisement for Masterclasses, I have questions about the quality for some of the lectures.

Reviewer

Kane

I gave it a chance because it was free so I was actually surprised it was very useful. Although the inhaler one needs to be sort of unique in its construction, I appreciated the method and creativity. The three cup routine was pretty awesome and was my favorite out of them. The prado routine was extensive in its method/setup but I think it’s worth working on if you want a miracle.
