Over the last two years, we’ve worked side-by-side with the Bosch family to develop a range of close-up pads which are, without question, the world’s finest. Each mat is handmade-to-order in the Netherlands. The care and attention to detail that goes into each one is breathtaking, and each mat is made of a blend of the finest woods and textiles on offer.
For thirty years, the Bosch family have been manufacturing exquisite furniture in The Netherlands. They are a family of artisans and their work has been sought after by some of the most famous names in Europe, including the British Royal Family.
Each close-up pad is unique to its owner, so we have made sure that you have complete flexibility when constructing yours. YOU determine the appearance and finish.
Pick one of five base options
The regular mat features a slimline base which makes it the perfect portable solution. This is the base to choose if your travel with your mat and are looking for an affordable, gorgeous magic accessory. We offer three colors to choose from: black, brown and white. We also offer a vegan-friendly options too.
The deluxe pad has a thicker surface with a full rim around it, whereas this, regular pad has a slim hard base that does not protrude around the edges.
Choose one or more color surface
These surfaces are ideal for manipulating doubles on the table with cards, or sliding coins silently during “Shadow Coins” style routines. You can even choose multiple surfaces, as they can easily be changed out (and are even compatible with our deluxe bases). Sustainability is very important to us so none of our surfaces are made from animal products. They are all vegan friendly, and some are even water resistant.
Engrave your logo directly onto the pad
If you want to add the ultimate personal touch, you can have your mat engraved. Using a laser engraver, we can emboss your name, logo, or initials into the surface of your pad. You can choose the size and positioning. Our graphic designers will work with you to make sure that your pad is personalized in exactly the way you want it. To ensure precision, you’ll receive a digital mockup to approve before your pad is manufactured.

How your pad is made: Every Vorst and Bosch close-up mat is made by hand, to order. Each mat takes approximately six hours to make, plus drying time. Wait times depend on demand but usually, mats ship within six to eight weeks from the order being placed.
